"Ya' ever think, Bullock, of NOT goin' straight at a thing?"

"No."

Those two sentences encapsulate the character of both men perfectly.

Yeah, I just got a little thrown off by a quote somebody posted earlier ::

said McShane. “If it makes $115M, HBO will somehow find a way to do another one.”

Not only that, I have trouble associating the word "movie" with HBO. Years ago it probably would have been called a "special".

The Sopranos, Oz etc put HBO on the map for original programming but previously they were known exclusively as a 'movie' channel

Yes. I know that. Put "original programming" in my post after "HBO". I figured it would've been inferred, but I guess I could be clearer.

Wouldn’t it be great if the movie was successful enough to garner a 2nd one or better yet, another season?

I watched Clint Eastwood's "The Mule" last weekend and also caught an hour or so of "The Girl Next Door" with Timothy Olyphant (and the impossibly gorgeous Elisha Cuthbert), and realized their voices are very similar.

Both seem to form words in the back of their throat and have similar delivery styles.

All of the previous episodes are available via HBO-Go and HBO-Now. If you are a subscriber of HBO on DirecTV or cable service you have access to HBO-Go and probably on demand with those services.

I bought Deadwood The Complete Series on Blu-ray, watch it in the HT via projection on a 92" screen. Looks great, sounds great.

I wish that instead of this 2 hour movie that they could have done one final shortened season (maybe 6 episodes)...no matter how successful it is I highly doubt that we'll get any more...mainly because most of the cast are busy with other roles...it was hard enough getting them all together for this movie...plus add to that the recent Alzheimer's diagnosis of showrunner David Milch and I think people better enjoy this last rodeo...I also hope that people who have ever watched a single episode of Deadwood will watch this 2 hour movie and fall in love with the writing, characters, setting and dialogue that they seek out the previous seasons and binge watch it

Really? They kind of made it their signature to have an HBO original movie debut every month/quarter in the 90s. They were well known for making excellent TV movies when the big 3/4 broadcast networks were pushing out pure garbage with their ultra cheap movies of the week. HBO even went meta when they made The Positively True Adventures of the Texas Cheerleader-Murdering Mom.

They still debut an original movie about once a quarter. But, two dramas about murderous, self-aware robots and flying dragons, respectively, suck all the oxygen our of discussion of anything else on the channel.

Moreover, unlike Showtime and Starz, they haven't lost any studios (yet). Fox, Universal, Dreamworks Animation, and obviously Warner Brothers continue to provide first-run movie content.

Anyway, looking forward to the Deadwood movie next month!

I've been rewatching the show in preparation for the movie and am about halfway through season 2. My wife is really bothered by Garret Dillahunt playing a different character in Season 2 than he did in Season 1. I have to admit, it stands out more when you binge the episodes over a short period of time. It didn't seem as distracting with a year's break between them.

I had a similar experience, especially now that I am much more familiar with the actor after dozens of other shows and movies since. I love the guy, but it stands out.

Revisiting the show has been an interesting experience after over a decade of fantastic television.

I don't like the idea of hiring the same actor to play a different role on the same show but with Deadwood it worked pretty flawlessly...both of Dillahunt's characters are so different from each other...unless you knew it was him it's hard to really tell...another actor played 2 characters on the show as well...the actor who plays Tim Driscoll in season 1 (Dan Hildebrand) also plays Shaughnessy...FYI: that same actor also played Kraznys the slave master on GoT
