I'm not convinced we will get blacked out on local telecasts of this, but its definitely a possibility.

But as far as the point, Extra Innings isn't for local fans either, and they put a lot of time and effort into that.

And if they have this why have all the jays home games in 4k on MLBEI as well?
As far as the Blue Jays, Sportsnet has dedicated channels to deliver the 4K broadcasts so if your provider is one of the 3 providers in Canada that carry the channel, and you have the required equipment, you'll be able to see the games in 4K. I believe the first broadcast was sometime last week.

The games being broadcast in the US appear to be national broadcasts which can be seen by all but the local team's markets. There's always the chance that the league will lift the blackout rule for those games but I wouldn't hold my breath.

As far as Blue Jays games being seen in the US, I'm not sure that's actually happening yet.

List of Blue Jays 4K home game broadcasts,
Spoiler!

Not sure how it would be on 213 since that isn't a 4K channel. I'd look for it and any other scheduled 4K programming on 106.

I've been with them for >15 years and thru' a couple of installs.

I do not think they will install on a roof any longer, and frankly I would never allow them to due to the risk of damage. Much better to install on the side of the house or on a dedicated 'pipe' next to the house that you can then hide with landscaping etc. As long as you have direct line of sight to the satellites, higher is not better, and the WAF is much enhanced with the dish located in a ground type of location instead of being stuck up high on the house somewhere.

When I upgraded a few months back the tech told me they don't go on the roof anymore. Awhile before that another tech said the same thing when my folks had a tech over. Probably to much of a liability now a days.

Bishman, thanks for the advice about appropriate placement.

Since you have had several installations over the past 15 years, did you have the best installation experience with Direct TV corporate or a third party (e.g. dealer)?

Just found out that AT&T is really pushing Uverse customers like me who bundle to switch to Direct TV by locking in the 2nd year (no price increase. The new deal is live on Friday so I think that the timing is good.

Hoping that the picture quality dramatically exceeds the already good HD picture quality I am receiving from Uverse.

WhiteJ - I understand about the potential liability of damage to the roof. Good policy.

I can't be sure but I'm thinking that many, (most?) of the installers in certain areas are contracted by DTV to do the installs and are not directly employed.

As for quality: I have previously used Uverse for Internet access; (I now use ATTs Gigapower service), but never used it for my TV service due to limited number of HD streams that could be recorded at the same time, as well as numerous reports of poor quality. I am overall very happy with Directv's product and quality, although it can be a little expensive. Frankly they really should give some major 'breaks' to long term customers like myself, (> 15 years). Google fiber currently being installed in my area and I will switch to their service as soon as I'm able.

Just got a Costco Directv installation on Saturday. Best installer I've ever had. He was extremely knowledgeable and professional. Of course YMMV.

Bishman, you are lucky to have Gigapower- you must live in a relatively new neighborhood where it was cost effective for AT&T to provide fiber to your premises. I am in an established neighborhood and they would have to trench to get the fiber to my house from the closest node. Enjoy your ultra fast network speeds! I have the fastest tier and get about 60-75 Mbs on my iMac and about 50-55 on my iPad and iPhones.

DkoFord, Good for you. You scored with the $300 cash card and a quality install.

Did you order online, by phone, or in store? Did you have to request 4K service to receive the HR54, C61, and reverse band LNB? Do you have the C61 hooked up to a 4K compatible TV?

Can you explain - I'm a bit of a noob. I'm able to record anything I want as far as I know (although I haven't tried to record 4K yet).

Ordered in store. Specified during the order I needed 4K - they confirmed the boxes in store as they called in the order. I have the C61 hooked up to an LG65EF9500.

minis do not have tuners. they get all thier signals from the hr54

if the c61k and the 2 minis are watching live tv, and the hr54 is watching live tv you only have 1 extra tuner.
if for some reason you have 2 things scheduled to record, someone is getting kicked out of the show they are watching

lack of a tuner makes a unit worthless, especially since they charge the same $7 a month you pay for the genie

This doesn't sound right. They show all the packages on their website with 1 DVR Genie, and Genie Minis for all other rooms. Even the 6 room/TV package shows this.

it was on first batch, now it's have 5; as to hidden two - please read back the thread about bonding transponders (actually, I would mandate new members coming to the thread read back for a couple months - all info is here, before you'll ask)

What happens in a setup like this with 4-6 total TV's and you choose the wireless option?
