Texans-Jaguars is looking pretty good as well. Does CBS ever broadcast in 5.1? Once again, OTA from KFOX in El Paso.

Bengals @ KC

OTA WHIO out of DAYTON , OHIO

Not thrilled...The audio (DD5.1) seems to be all over the place...Not unhappy with the PQ but not especially impressed either...

OTA WKRC out of CINCINNATI, OHIO

Not disappointed...The audio (DD2.0) in Pro Logic II I have never really been impressed with...Would be nice if they would get modern and use DD5.1 equipment...PQ is pretty close to WHIO PQ but overall crisper in my opinion...

*EDIT* The WHIO DD5.1 seems to have stabilized now...

Of course the game I want is Dallas/Patriots!!!

Titans @ Buccaneers is having sporadic audio issues; volume dropping and I think going from 5.1 to 2.0 back and forth.

Sounds like separate issues to me, based on the reports in the old thread.

Yes. It could be you local station, as they also must have 5.1 capability. You may want to check your local topic for more info.

When the audio volume drops, is when it goes from 5.1 to 2.0, I think. If it happens again, I'll get more details.

That could be switching at CBS NY between the game directly (5.1) and going through the update studio (2.0). Regardless of whether that's the problem here, they really need to fix the studio issue.

I'm mainly watching [email protected], but when I switch over to [email protected] on WHP-DT via Comcast Harrisburg it's macroblocking hell. The abundant reds and oranges are visibly marred in fast action. It's downright disrespectful.

This is occurring during the game, not at the breaks.

Is it volume drifting down and up during the game or is it switching between 5.1 and 2.0 (when not tipping off an impending game break) -- or both?

Sometimes they do this in anticipation of a update (such as from another game) but switch back if they decide not to have one. This wouldn't coincide with a commercial break. They could be having metadata issues too.

Both, I think at the same time, which would account for the lower volume when it's in 2.0.

NE / DAL... Does the grass look grey to anyone else?

Also it seems so underexposed that you can't even see Mike Carey's face when he announces penalties.

WKRC-DT Cincinnati OTA

Drop pay-TV. Put up an antenna. Enjoy free HDTV. Save $60-100 or more per month!

The KC/Cin game had audio issues. Mostly the center channel was coming out of the rear speakers.

The Dallas/NE game is fine.

WWJ via Star Choice looks horrible, lots of pixelation. KIRO-Seattle looks marginally better, DirecTV-ST actually looks the best of all 3, don't know what station it is, WCBS possibly.

CBS via WTVF-DT here in nashville looks terrible, horrible pixelation, happened last week with the broncos too. Strange, the first game (titans) looked spectacular.

As mentioned in a prior thread here in Atlanta CBS has been doing the 5.1 to 2.0 switching during games for at least 2-3 years, and always before an in game update from NY. It happens on College Saturdays as well. My reciever handles the switch with momentary pause in sound so its very annoying. Also they normally drop it to 2.0 about a minute before they go to NY for the update. The problem is if a big play happens they wont go for the update so it goes back to 5.1. This creates quite an audio mess depending on how your reciever handles the switching.
