Spectrum 210 Box - Audio: "Other" What is it?

Just curious...

I recently purchased and installed the Avantree Bluetooth transmitter/receiver and Headphones.

Connections are...

Cable box (HDMI) to TV (HDMI)
Avantree (OPTICAL OUT) to Bose Soundbar (OPTICAL IN) - Avantree says this is just a passive loop from in-to-out.

TV set to external speakers and PCM

No sound in headphones until I changed cable box Audio from HDMI to "Other"
Would also not work with Audio out set to "Dolby" on cable box.

Everything works, sound quality not bad for the price....just wondering what is the issue?

Its like the TV cannot convert the HDMI input into whatever the Avantree needs.

The weird thing is that the BOSE continued to work fine.

So....WTH is "other"?

Thanks...from an old guy.

Only thing that "Other" could be is Stereo PCM (aka LPCM)....for those "other" equipments (e.g. most Wireless Headphones) that do NOT support DD5.1 Optical format [aka "Bitstream"].
