About to Wire - Confirm Final Plan!

Hey everyone,

I think I did this wrong and just realizing it..but confused still. Framing is done and I have to get in there to wire for everything. I'm going to be using a few sonos amps for my WHA. Anyways... I'm gonna do volume control knobs in all the rooms that will be a zone. Take for example the screenshot. I will have zone 1 (4 speakers) in kitchen and garage. The caveat is...I want it so that if my wife doesnt wanna hear anything while cooking, she will turn the knob all the way down. In the meantime, I can turn the volume up in the garage with my knob.

I have this wired wrong right? I already bought 250ft of 4 conductor to go from the closet to the knobs. Then I bought 500ft of 2 conductor to go from knobs to speakers.

Looking back at my mockup..I can't figure out if its correct or not. Any thoughts?

Also..if 1 amp is rated at 110RMS, and I put 4 speakers on it (27.5RMS per speaker) should I Be getting a 50W knob or 75W knob?

The diagram looks correct. Home run the 4-conductor cables to each volume control location. Then two, 2-conductor cables from the volume control to the (2) speakers.

And please also run a cat5e in parallel with your 4-conductor cable. You'll really want that for the future.

Wiring is pretty straightforward to audio only zones with volume controls.

Pick an equipment closet location which offers excellent ventilation, good access, and room for growth.
Any room with a pair of speakers (or more)
Run speaker wire to volume control location (14/4 or better typically) from your equipment closet location.
Speaker wire to speakers (same gauge that you ran to volume control).

A 5,000 watt amp likely will be used at under 20 watts, so you should be fine with any volume controls, but if you crank things up at full volume, for a long period of time, it can always damage them. So, getting a bit more overhead in a volume control isn't a bad thing.

Make sure to use low voltage boxes, or very deep boxes so you have plenty of room to work in them.

This is a very unique time, so if you can wire the heck out of your home... Do so.
