Why bother, just find the best settings with the included remote and then leave it alone!
Also, you may find you'll may have to do a little tweaking to your set after, but it should have a more solid look - remember, nothing drastic, but subtle.

Thanks P! I was under the impression you have to adjust the hd, game mode, pop depending on the source being fed through the halite. I guess i will just have to wait until tomorrow and then i will have better understaning of the unit. I dont expect drastic improvements but any small noticable improvement will make me happy. I was torn between the Halite(darblet is not astically appealing!) the DVDO iscan duo(1.3 hdmi made me hesitant). I will puchase the Oppo BPD-103 after christmas so i can get the benifets of of marvell qdeo.

Should i turn the digital clean view and mpeg noise filters off on the tv will using the halite? I know the most people prefer them off regardless but i cant stand all the mosquito noise coming from diecttv. From what i understand the darbee wouldn't solve that problem and will exagerate even more if too much darbee is utilized. I very excited to see what and it can do for ps3 and blueray movies.

Settings are always a person's personal preference.(I'll occasionally will pull out the remote and check the settings. Always end up back where it was.) I do my TV calibrations with the Darbee and Halite Inline.
As mentioned in my previous posting, the Halite is better than the Darbee. How much is subjective. Definitely more overhead than the Darbee, and as mentioned running the Halite currently at 50 HD. The Darbee was running at 70 HD.
Re the OPPO - I would delay that until the new H.265, and HDMI 2.0 or Display Port 1.3 decisions are finalized.
The iScan Duo (I have 3 of them) is current if you're going to be using on current sets - definitely not for 4K usage. ($599 currently on Amazon.)

I turn off the usual fluff video enhancers, etc.

Thanks for all of the info....P! The Halite was waiting for me Friday evening when I got home from work. I really like the subtle enhancements it produces, especially to blue-rays!

I have been researching the DVDO Iscan and was curious about you thoughts regarding the auto-calibration using an eye-one meter or a similar meter to calibrate the grayscale & colours. Are you familiar with chromapure calibration software? Is it worth the money?

May pick up a second unit for the new Samsung PN64F8500. (Pending any monies left after Christmas!)
Purchased! MC not due to February - Halite Inventory may not last that long!

Halite lost in a US Snow Storm? Tracking is not tracking where it is! (Finally crossed over into Canada!)

Out of the US Snow Storms and into the new one hitting Southern Ontario, Quebec, Maritimes and Upper US!

Who was trying to say something about Global Warming - I'm freezing my butt off waiting for this mail delivery!

The Halite is the SALT...correct?

Have an opportunity to purchase one within a week and want to make certain that this

is a good buy.

So far, the reviews on the Halite are very positive.  Just want to be certain it is the same as the SALT.

By SALT, it is.

Yes, regarding a "good buy" IF you like what does. I do

Now with a new calibrating technique on my LG 55LHX fed from my Halite and Radiance XE-3D, and the Samsung PN64F8500 now AutoCaled from my iScan Duo fed through a second Halite, I now have 2 sets that almost appear 4K like in appearance. MAGNIFICO!

Almost? I bet if you were to place a 4K TV beside your 64F8500 playing the same thing and sit back to your view spot, you could not tell the difference.

LG 55LHX beats out the F8500 due to motion issues on the 8500. Running the Video Processing Motion Tests on the Spears and Munsil 2 - LHX runs 24,30 and 60fps without issues or blurring on all tests. 8500 can only pass the 60. Blurs on the 24 and 30.

Interesting.

My thoughts have been my next will be a 4K if the OLEDs don't pan out. By panning out, I mean 65-70", flat and hangable

You left out Affordable! Right now, the Halite is the more affordable way to go. Not quite up to spec for 4K, but looks damm good!

The Halite on the PN64F8500 first lost it's 3D pass through, then quit. This unit when received, was not packaged like New. I was told some units had been bench tested. I guess they didn't test it enough!

Sewell sending a replacement Halite after talking to engineering if it's not something I can fix here. Shipping label for return will be enclosed.

Replacement unit powered up with a blinking Red power led, no 3D through put, and Menus that wouldn't allow you to select anything. New tested replacement being sent up.
Replacement in, so replaced the Halite on my 2D system. Breaking the newbie in gently. My experienced Halite moved down to the PN64F8500 3D system.

Had to replace my iScan Duo with a Radiance XS-3D - Duo and the Samsung PN64F8500 were just not getting along. Haite doing OK.
