Greetings HDfury.
I have the ub820 and the sdr/2020 output looks a lot worse than than sdr/709. Could this be the reason?
Would any of your product rectify this problem?
Many thanks and best regards,

Vertex App not connecting...

@HDfury ,

Hi, I have a strange problem with the Vertex Android App on my phone: it either crashes at startup or shows "No Devices Found" after activating the Bluetooth.

I have no problem when using my old Android Tablet to connect to the Vertex or the same phone to connect to my Integral via another GoBlue...

Both GoBlues are visible when I activate the Bluetooth on my phone and are not paired.

Would the Vertex App have a problem with Android 9 ? My phone was updated not long ago before I tried using it with the Vertex App and I can't think of any other reason, since my tab on Android 4 and the Integral App on Android 9 are working.

Can anyone with Android 9 and a GoBlue connected to a Vertex confirm that it's working for them?

I have a Samsung Galaxy S9 just in case.

Regards,

W.

Looking for a 600 MHz video sample

Hi,

Anyone know where I can find a video sample to test the maximum bandwidth of my equipment?

The maximum I've got is 371 MHz.

My mediaplayer has a resolution of [email protected] with 10 bit color and is HDR compatible, my TV also has the same specs...

Thx,

W.

Is there any way to configure the Vertex to output video only on Output 0 (zero)? Thanks.

Please make sure GoBlue is updated to latest firmware and make sure you have latest APP installed.
Also confirm if you are using normal USB>mini USB cable or the "Y" version.
If you use same phones for multiple of our devices, when you go from one device to an other, please try using top right corner option > CLEAR PREVIOUS CONNECTION > RECONNECT.

You need to look for 4K60 422 12b or 4K60 444 8b, usually recorded from PC or game system.

You can turn off audio on BOT output from GUI or via IR/RS232 commands or via Android/iOS APP if you have GoBlue.

Hi,

Thx for both replies...

Regarding the Vertex App connection issue, I am using the Y cable which is connected correctly, since I have no problem connecting via my Tablet, it's the phone App which has an issue.

All firmware & software is up-to-date, but while checking, I noticed that the Vertex App version on my phone is APK 1.1.1 (dated 14 January 2019 on the Android App Store) whereas the working App on my Tablet, as well as the latest mentioned on your website is APK 1.1.0.

Did you release then withdraw APK version 1.1.1 ?

If it has a bug, please have it withdrawn from the Android App Store.

I tried disconnecting and reconnecting again several times again, but nothing changed.

Regards,

W.

Its the website that need to be updated, actually also GoBlue update coming tomorrow.
1.1.0 works when you install it from the phone directly, so you can download that version and try it, but it didn't worked when downloaded from google play, so it was updated to 1.1.1 (You can also try to desinstall and reinstall from google play, see if it changes anything)

I guess we should try Android 9 and see if we can reproduce, I don't think we have S9 phone to try.

Ok, tried reinstalling Vertex APK 1.1.1 from Google Play, but it didn't work.

So I downloaded version 1.1.0 from your website and installed it: immediate detection of both GoBlues and no problem connecting to the Vertex.

So you might want to put up a note for the combination of Vertex APK 1.1.1 and Android 9.

Reminder: Integral APK 2.1.0 also works correctly with Android 9.

I have just noticed that the Vertex App is not available on Google Play if I search for it with my Android 4 Tablet... is that normal? I don't remember if I installed it via download from your website or not, but it works without a problem. Integral, AVRKey and Linker Apps do show up, but Integral 2 App doesn't either.

Hi.
Is the analog audio output tied to one of the HDMI outputs or is it available to both outputs trough switching?

By looking worse, might it be looking overly dark with a red tint? If so, check that your TV or Projector has not switched to an HDR picture mode.

The UB820 outputs a fantastic 4K picture when in SDR/BT2020 mode.

Ok, we will fix it on online version. Thanx for your help in determining the issue.
For android 4 tablet, if you have 1.1.1 it comes from online google play if its 1.1.0 it comes from us directly

In splitter mode, both outputs are the same so it doesn't matter. (but it's BOT out)
In Matrix mode it's bot output that get extracted via analog or optical output

Hi,

Regarding the HDFury Apps that are available on Google Play for my tablet under Android 4, I think you didn't understand what I meant: neither the Vertex nor the Integral 2 are shown as being available... whatever the version.

Do you know why?

I have a rough idea about why

Vertex and Integral2 APP are using new base code and may be Android made that unavailable for previous version in order to force people to update since fragmenting is a big issue on android.
anyway, just give it a few days and all will be good, everything already forwarded to devs, they are on it.

Thx for the explanation.

Unfortunately, customers don't really have the choice to upgrade their version of Android if the manufacturer of their device doesn't release a new version...

Yes ofc, anyway, as long as you can download from our website, then you always have a workaround till we find and fix any such issue with playstore version, its just not so convenient than playstore for quick install and upgrade, but if you are using our devices, you are a power user after all

Hi,

I've followed lots of links and downloaded several 4K 60fps HDR demos, but not one clearly states either of the above specs nor goes beyond the 371 MHz mark!

Would anyone have a direct reference / link I can follow to finally get a 600 MHz test sequence to see if my stuff holds-up to the maximum available bandwidth?

Thx,

W.

Yes that's the problem with samples files and most creators, they usually never mention anything else except resolution and a few times color depth only and rarely chroma. So no one really knows until player decodes.

May be check links from that page, I suppose one of them should at least have one of such clip

It seems to me that whether the video file itself was recorded/compressed at the high quality parameters you want to test, the pixel clock megahertz of the video signal output is dependent on the video resolution you've selected on your source device that is playing back that video file. For example, you could be playing back a 480p 24fps YUV 4:2:0 compressed video file, but if you're doing so on a Windows PC that is configured to output 4K60 YUV 4:4:4 to your 4K/UHD monitor, the video signal bandwidth is still probably going to be 533Mhz (typical DisplayPort) or 594Mhz (typical HDMI 2.0) anyway.

Thks for the tip, I did a search for my mediaplayer with chroma settings and found an interesting thread on the Kodi forum.

I might need to install an alternative to Android on the box to enable more options.

W.

I’m needing to pick up a device that can scale my Nintendo Switch to 4k before sending it to my projector.

Is the best thing right now a vertex? Or should I wait for the diva or vertex 2?

UPSCALE ability is the same for Vertex, Diva, Maestro, Integral2 or Vertex2

Just may be over time Diva/Maestro/Vertex2 will have more options available under scaling method.

Maestro: 4I/4O +4K HDR over HDBT +Autoswitch any sources +HDMI/ARC/eARC sound to AVR input +webserver. [Won Best Product Award]
Diva: 4I/3O +Ambient Light +Lag Tester +4K HDR > 1080p SDR +HDMI/ARC/eARC sound to AVR input +autoswitch +webserver.
Vertex2: 4I/3O +Autoswitch any sources +HDMI/ARC/eARC sound to AVR input +webserver.

When is the Vertex 2 supposed to be released? Sounds like the Vertex 1 would do what I need?

For example, you could be playing back a 480p 24fps YUV 4:2:0 compressed video file, but if you're doing so on a Windows PC that is configured to output 4K60 YUV 4:4:4 to your 4K/UHD monitor, the video signal bandwidth is still probably going to be 533Mhz (typical DisplayPort) or 594Mhz (typical HDMI 2.0) anyway.
@pshuang ,

Thanks to your insight, I've just installed the alternative software and my Vertex now reports 594MHz for UHD 60 fps HDR demo files

Happy to be able to confirm that my gear (cables included) can be pushed to the limit and pass the test with flying HDR colours !

@HDfury ,

Why is it not possible to simultaneously display the RX and the TX info on the OSD?

I find it usefull to see when using the Vertex to upscale...

W.

End of the year only. You can always trade in any device for any newer one anytime.

May be because no one asked for it till now Vertex today firmware is the results of our work + people requests overtime.

Please note that both infos and more are always displayed on : OLED, GUI and Android/iOS APP if you use GoBlue.

Well, if you could please slip this option into an upcoming release if it's not too much work, I'd be grateful.

I did notice this info was available in the Android App, but it's not as practical as having it readily available onscreen.

Thx,

W.

Great! Just picked up a Vertex. Hopefully that’ll work for a while.

I have two displys connected to my vertex, JVC proj 4K and a 1080p monitor in another room ajacent to the cinema. I have the vertex on auto sence and to favour the 4K proj.

Often my JVC isn’t opening up in 4K when I turn it on, just 1080p. I can power off the vertex and power on but the pc is still in 1080p. If I restart the pc then it opens in 4K. Do you think it’s the vertex not reading the correct display first, the JVC????

It might require a redesign of one of the OSD checkboxes on the GUI; HDR RX/TX info, as it currently displays the RX info for pass through signals, but TX for an altered signal.

Also, the RX HDR info checkbox currently overrides the HDR RX/TX checkbox when selected.

This was requested in the past but I don't recall the reason it was not implemented.

I don't think there is enough memory left to do that as we are currently implementing some ARC update to Vertex/Integral2 and it's already a nightmare to find available free memory, had to tweak many routines.
So i'll speak to devs but no guarantee here.

Please send config export.

Hi Claw,

can you please describe how it should be displayed or what you would like to be changed exactly. thanx.

I am OK with the way it is now. I was just commenting on the poster's request to display both RX and TX info.
