Instead it will most likely output either 4K60 4:2:2 12-bit SDR REC709 or 4K60 4:4:4 8-bit SDR REC709 depending on the ouput options set in the player. As mentioned 4K60 4:4:4 is only valid at 8-bit.
Thanks! My EDID 14 is different: 4K30-444 300MHz All Sound. I am running the latest FW (v 25). I attached all Custom EDID options I see. Do I need a custom firmware to get the 4K60 444 600MHz BT2020 All Sound option?

Also Claw - I know the Panasonic Netflix app will force REC709. Do you happen to know if the Shield TV app does the same? What I want is to compare the HDR version (using Arve's curve created by Chad) with the 4K, BT2020 non-HDR version. Right now I am not impressed with the HDR results - perhaps because I got used to the fantastic tone mapping done via MadVR. All that using my JVC RS-500.

Thanks!

Download HDfury EDID collection available on download section of mostly any devices on our website and then take the EDID 14 from VERTEX directory and load it as custom EDID (bank 1)

As HDfury mentioned, download an EDID collection for one of the other devices; for example the Vertex EDID collection.

I don't have a Shield.

Netflix does not store a SDR BT.2020 version of the content. The way the Panasonic outputs SDR/BT2020 for Amazon Video is by tone mapping the HDR BT.2020 version that is output from the Amazon App. But as you already know the Netflix App in the UB820/UB9000 seems to be broken as it will only output BT2020 when the player is in HDR output mode and not when in SDR/BT2020 mode.

I very much doubt the Shield can tone map HDR to SDR. So if you force BT.2020 from the Shield (which I think you can do) you would likely get the 4K SDR REC709 version from the Netflix App converted to SDR BT2020 by the Shield. Not what you are looking for.

That's a bummer. I was hoping to force a SDR Bt.2020 from Netflix. Thanks Claw!

@HDfury

I got sidetracked with home repairs so just now got around to trying the Linker.

I'm trying to change to EDID 8 but I get "Error writing EDID values".

Video signal path is Panasonic UB900 > Maranatz 7702MkII Bluray In > 7702 Mon2 Out > 35' HDMI cable > Linker > 6' High Speed HDMI cable > JVC X570R

My 35' HDMI cable gives no picture w/60 Hz, but I have the 900 set to 24 Hz output, and the picture is stable with no dropouts.

In case it matters, I have Color Mode set to Y:Cb:Cr 4:2:2 and Deep Color Output set to Auto (12-bit priority), and HLG/PQ Conversion set to Auto.

[edit] I also tried setting it to FIXED EDID but got the same error.

You are prolly using a GUI newer than the Fw on the unit, so if you downloaded latest package, make sure unit is flashed with latest firmware too.
If problem, send GUI Screenshot please.

Yes ok, but did you update firmware ? because the GUI does not show any FW version, so as I said, firmware currently on the unit does not match with the GUI.
Update firmware and retry, you should see FW version of Linker displayed in GUI and then settings EDID will work.

Not sure, what you mean by that, please elaborate, all what I'm saying is that Linker FW should be reported on GUI, if GUI does not report FW version, then it just means that unit is not running the right Firmware, so run the firmware updater in the same directory and you will be fine.

That depends what you are trying to do here and your PJ max, if you don't know your PJ max, add link to its usermanual in PDF and i'll check it.

Sorry, I wasn't clear; I didn't know I had to separately download the firmware after downloading Silabs installer (I thought it would install f/w) and GUI.

I did that and was able to set edid to 8.

My 35' cable doesn't work at more than 24 Hz, so I have Panasonic UB900 and ATV 4k set to output 24 Hz.

My projector is JVC DLA-X570R

Ok good, so if you want to me check something, please tell me PJ max or link to its usermanual in PDF if you don't know about it.
Also send GUI screenshot when signal is passing thru so we can see if incoming/outgoing is optimal or not;

I believe the projector can handle 18 GHz, but like I said my cable can't, so I only send it 24 Hz.

I only need the Linker to strip the HDR flag, because JVC disables the dynamic iris when it sees it.

Manual is here http://www33.jvckenwood.com/pdfs/B5A-2025-02.pdf

Yes just checked and it supports 4K60 4:4:4 8b or 4K60 422 12b if you want to confirm all settings are ok, please post GUI screenshot when signal is pass thru.

I'm not sure what you mean by "signal is pass thru".

I can only take a GUI screenshot with the Linker connected to my PC, which is not near my AV system.

Is "signal is pass thru" a setting I make in the GUI, or do I need to connect a video source and play it through the Linker and then take a screenshot?

Yes "signal is passing thru" means SOURCE > LINKER > DISPLAY and computer connected to Linker with Windows GUI running so you can see the incoming and outgoing signal, if you cannot do that because computer is far away, consider getting GoBlue so you can use mobile/tablet to check what's going in/out. (this is in case you want to verify all is good) if you set something on source, and see resolution and incoming timing on your display, then you should be able to deduct on your own if all is fine or if there is room for improvement.

Since the only thing the Linker is doing is allowing the dynamic iris to work, I should be able to tell by seeing that bright scenes look the same.

If not, I'll be back

Also tell me cable length at input and output and brand of them.
Update: The blinking is gone now. There was no issue with the unit. It was the wire as you suspected. I had another HDMI 15 feet wire laying around but this one is like twice as thick as well. So I decided to try it out and woalllaa, issue resolve . Now that its working, what settings should I be using for JVC RS500? I do see the Iris working which is awesome .

RS500 should work just fine with default settings and Disable HDR, if any doubt, just post GUI Screenshot when signal is going thru and it can be confirmed.

Vertex/Integral2 or newer generation have Macro for your PJ, that is prolly better solution for RS500

Cool thx. What does the Macro do?
I watched The Skull Island in HDR and was amazed how good it looked. Before never liked how it looked. I did have projector calibrated but wither HDFury, didn't look good. Could it be just Iris doing the job??? Don't think so because that'd kick in the dark scenes. Everything is looking so good with Fury in chain. I used to play Skull Island for its sound but not visually, its quiet stunning looking movie.

Macro will put PJ in each picture mode you want based on incoming content so for any type of incoming content you can decide in which picture mode it must be played and then all is automatic.
On RS500 results depend if have loaded custom gamma curves or not, refer to Manni guide for this.

Hi, I am having an issue where when I try to play a DVD or Blu ray through my PS4 or Xbox One, both connected to my HDFury Linker I get sound but no video. My setup has the HDMI cables going from the systems to the HDFury, then to a receiver and then from teh receiver to a projector. Everything wroks perfectly until I try to play a DVD or blu ray. Is this an known issue and is there a solution? I vaguely remember encountering this shortly after I got the HDFury and finding a sokution but it was so long ago and I so rarely watch dvd and blu ray discs that I can't for the life of me remember what the fix was if I had actually found one.

Thank you

I think you will need to update firmware, please send PM, email or join our discord support server.
In the meantime, make sure drivers are installed on your computer (if you can run Windows GUI, then you can update)

Hello @HDfury

Would be possible for you to share the Sony A1 LLDV EDID that you have in the Vertex2 and other newer devices? I would like to load this profile on my Linker. I looked for LLDV profiles in the EDID extensions zip file, but I only found the LG C8 LLDV there.

Thanks!

Atmos on a 720p Plasma

Hello,

From what I've been able to gleam, it appears I can get Atmos content through my non-4K system via the following...

Netflix, Amazon, Disney+ through Amazon Fire Stick 4K

And...

4K blu-ray player (future purchase)

Into Denon AVR-X4500H receiver

Then Denon's monitor out to Linker

Then from Linker to Panasonic TH-50PX75U 720p display (with the display handling the downconversion from 1080 to 720)

Yes?

@HDfury

Do any of your products do dynamic tone-mapping like the new f/w for JVC projectors?
