HDFury Integral 2 - Owners Thread

The new HDFury Integral 2 product has been announced, is available for ordering on the HDFury Web Site, and is expected to start shipping Mid October, 2018. It will replace: Integral, AVR-Key, and Linker once they sold out. It is based on Vertex technology and HDFury states that the only difference between the Integral 2 and the Vertex is the OLED Display on the unit itself. In other words, the Vertex has the OLED display on the unit but the Integral 2 doesn't. I don't know that this will be missed as the contents of the OLED can be displayed through other means... OSD, Android/Apple app, RS232, and etc.

Integral 2 is a state of the art HDMI central for FHD source or sink in UHD/HDR setup or the other way around. Comes with OSD, huge scaling power and toolkit for researcher, content creator or advanced user. Support any video and/or audio signal in existence today including DV, HLG, HDR10+, DTS:X, ATMOS and more… Integral 2 allows any source (Blu-ray, UHD Blu-ray, media players, satellite receiver, game consoles, PCs, etc.) to be shown on any of the connected displays and any sources HDMI audio to be played on any AVR. With built-in scalers you don’t have to miss any 4K HDR signal because of older legacy equipment in the signal path.

For usage with the Android or Apple mobile apps, you will still need the optional GoBlue Bluetooth device. The GoBlue device connects in line with the power feed on the Integral 2 to allow the Bluetooth access within the mobile apps.

General Information:

  • HDfury Integral 2 is a 4K60 4:4:4 600MHz 18Gbps HDMI2.0b Level A smart converter for interoperability between legacy equipment, for integrators, content creators, calibrators, streamers, digital entertainment centers, UHDTV retail, show sites, data centers, schools, conference or home cinema.
  • HDfury Integral 2 is capable of converting HDCP, FHD<>UHD Resolution, Chroma, Color Depth, Color Space and more in order to individually feed any of the connected sinks at their best capabilities. GUARANTEED!
  • User can pass thru Dolby Vision or HDR from Source to TV while sending Dolby Atmos or any sound format to a non DV or HDR capable AVR.
  • Featuring a true 2×2 18Gbps HDMI matrix/splitter/switcher/scaler/converter/audio de-embedder, HDfury Integral 2 can also act as an Infoframe and HDR metadata Injector and Extractor, HDCP Doctor, CEC Commander, HDMI Doctor, EDID manager and more…
  • It supports any HDMI, any HDCP and any HDR up to HDR10+, HLG or Dolby Vision, including LLDV.
  • HDMI Audio is compatible with any sound format in existence today.
  • It provides full EDID management for an optimal handling of today’s wide variety of sources and displays and comes with OSD, IR, RS232 and stereo or optical audio output for ARC up to Atmos®, DD+®, Dolby® 7.1,
  • DTS® and LPCM for capable sink.
  • Instantly get and feel the HDMI supervisor power through OSD, Windows GUI, RS232, iOS/Android APP (with GoBlue) and more…
  • Note that it have the best 18Gbps signal integrity ever seen for a 5v device, thus ensuring seamless integration even with marginal cables that would otherwise not work with others devices for high bandwidth signals.
  • If you ever saw the following statement: “this TV does not support HDCP 2.2. Make sure you have HDCP 2.2 capable TV” or a similar HDCP error message, make sure you never see it again with HDfury Integral 2!

Technical specs:

  • HDMI revision: HDMI 2.0b (Level A) 600Mcsc – 18Gbps
  • Max Resolution: 4K60 4:4:4 8b, 4K60 4:2:2 12b, 4K120 4:2:0 8b or 8K30 4:2:0 8b

  • Upscale port: FHD 1080p to UHD 2160p & 2K/DCI to 4K/DCI

  • Other info: Input Lag <1ms (nanoseconds count)
Android or iOS Bluetooth control of the Integral 2 with the GoBlue device:
  • Allows you to configure the Integral 2 with your Android or iOS device rather than having to use the Windows GUI... Much more convenient for projector owners where the Integral 2 may be sitting on top of the ceiling mounted projector.
  • To purchase the GoBlue device, go to the Integral 2 product page from the link below and then scroll to the bottom of that page where you see the "GoBlue" device and click on the "Select Options" under the GoBlue product.
  • You will then need to download the Integral 2 App for your Android or iOS device.
    • Go to the app store on your device.
    • Search for "HDFury".
    • Locate the "Integral 2" App (it may be down the list a ways... It was on my Android Phone).
    • Download the App to your device.
  • Update the Firmware on the GoBlue device.
    • On the GoBlue product page on the HDFury site, click on the "Download" tab.
    • Download the latest version of the GoBlue Firmware.
    • There is a video on how to flash the firmware on the "Getting Started" tab on the GoBlue product page.
  • Connect the GoBlue device in line between your power block and USB power cable to the Integral 2.
    • When you launch the Integral 2 product on your Android or iOS device, it will automatically connect to the GoBlue and allow you to make configuration changes with your Android or iOS device rather than using a computer and the Windows GUI.

-General Support-

Please be descriptive in your support question and follow this format:
Source Brand/Model > length of HDMI cable (and type: copper/active/fiber) > Brand/Model > length of HDMI cable (and type: copper/active/fiber) > Brand/Model > etc...

In a setup with X1X, Integral 2, X4200 and LG C7, in one chain, it would look like:
X1X > 6ft copper > Integral 2 > 6ft copper > X4200 > 6ft copper > LG C7

In a setup with X1X, Integral 2, X4200 and LG C7, in split chain, it would look like:
X1X > 6ft copper > Integral 2 > 6ft copper > LG C7---------------------------------> 6ft copper > X4200

Additional info the user community would like:
- FW in use and config (if possible)
- Confirmation that lock Icon is or is not visible via the On Screen Display (OSD)
- Issue Description
- Link to any active or fiber cable in use
- For users with any active or fiber cable, Test by replacing with copper: solve issue or not
- Test by power on sequence (power sink at outputs first, then source at input): solve issue or not

Driver installation:

There are two different Silabs Drivers; v4.0.0 and v3.9.2. Try to install v.4.0.0 first and if you get a message saying cannot find any drivers for your system, then cancel and install v3.9.2 instead.
3.9.2 are mandatory for WinXP only.

To download Silabs Driver v4.0.0: http://www.hdfury.com/tools/Silabs_Driver_v4.zip
- Unzip it and navigate to the inner most Silabs_Driver_v4 folder. USBXpressInstaller_x64 application file is for Windows 64-bit. USBXpressInstaller_x86 for Windows 32-bit. Right mouse click on the correct version for your Windows and select Run As Administrator to install the driver.

To download Silabs Driver v3.9.2: http://www.hdfury.com/tools/Silabs_Driver_v3.zip
- Unzip it and navigate to the inner most Silabs_Driver_v3 folder. Right mouse click on USBXpressInstaller application file and select Run as Administrator.

After installation of the Silabs driver is complete, reboot your PC, connect your device and wait for USB notification sound (first connection after drivers install always take more time than next one).

HDfury loves such user ! Thanx a lot, very nice first post !

PS: On Integral 2 lock status is displayed on OSD, when locked OSD will report it.
Walky likes this.

Use Automix/SINK mode for DV support on AVR-Key/Integral. Linker does NOT support all DV.
Want to get DD+ and ATMOS sound from TV streaming Apps back to an AVR via HDMI since it fails via ARC or S/PDIF?
Show interest by posting your TV and AVR brand/model. We might select you in the future for some beta test.

Thanks. I noticed that it had the OLED in what I copied and later edited it. I have now added that the lock can be found on the OSD.

By the way, if there are any additional pertinent items you think I should add to the initial post, just let me know. For example, a link to the Owner's Manual when that is available.

Sounds great -- what is the difference between the Integral 2 and the Vertex (other than the integrated display)?

There is no difference except the OLED and external look.
Integral2 is a cheaper variation of Vertex to allow more people to solve their issues at affordable price

PS: we have made a HLG to HDR conversion feature that will be added on both Integral2 and Vertex. Allow people with HDR TV only (not HLG capable) to connect their HLG source and get HDR content rendered correctly.

Use Automix/SINK mode for DV support on AVR-Key/Integral. Linker does NOT support all DV.

I read the Integral 2 User Manual today and I have to admit that my head is still spinning a bit. This thing sure has a lot of capability and with capability, comes complexity. The user manual does a great job of explaining all the GUI panels and options but is there some sort of "getting started" guide? The user manual shows the capabilities but doesn't really address how you should approach the initial setup of the unit to get maximum benefit for your specific mix of equipment.

Since I have no previous experience with Linker, Vertex, or any of the other HDFury products, I think some direction on how to get started would be helpful. It may be that, once you hook it up and see the source and display EDID information, it might make more sense and become apparent on how you need to set things up but it doesn't seem to be that way in reading the user guide.

This has probably been covered in one of the HDFury product threads but, if somebody could point me to the information, that would be great.

My setup will be... Source Device (there are multiple of these feeding into separate HDMI inputs on the AVR) --> AVR --> 18Gbps 30' Long Cable to Ceiling Mounted Projector Location --> Integral 2 --> 6' Cable to Projector... I will only have a single device (AVR) in and a single device (Projector) out.

My equipment list is in my signature below. My projector isn't DV or HDR capable and, although it supports 4K 60FPS, it only supports 8bit 4:2:0 in 60FPS mode. My AVR will pass through DV. It also doesn't support BT2020 but it does support DCI/P3 and Rec709

A few "startup questions" which come to mind are:
  • Do you set up all your source devices to their maximum capability including 4K 60FPS, HDR, DV, Deep Color and etc and then let the Integral 2 do the step up/down as needed?
  • With multiple source devices coming through the AVR, will you be able to have different settings for the various devices?
  • In the setup diagram above, will the Integral 2 have visibility through the AVR or will it only see what the AVR is capable of (this is probably a dumb question as I don't even know if AVRs have an EDID of their own.
  • Do you start out in "automatic" mode to have the Integral 2 do "discovery" on the input devices and output device to determine the best EDID to use?
  • For the Android App, there doesn't appear to be a specific app for the Integral 2. Do you use the Vertex App, Integral App, or will there be a new Integral 2 App?
I realize I may be jumping the gun here but I would like to be ready to get things set up as quickly as possible when the Integral 2 arrives. I also realize that I'm a novice at this stuff and probably haven't stated everything correctly.

If projector is not DV or HDR capable, you have 2 options, use AUTOMIX to create dynamic EDID on the fly based on your PJ capabilities, or use a custom EDID that match your projector specs. (so you just pick up the EDID that match your PJ specs from the list of 100 custom EDID available)
> this is if you want minimum signal operation.

You can however use a higher bandwidth EDID so Vertex will accept higher bandwidth signal and downscale chroma or others if needed at the output to feed your PJ at its best.
> In this can, you need to make sure the 30ft can pass thru 600MHz, if it cannot you have to stick with AUTOMIX or Custom EDID that match your PJ capabilities.

You DO NOT set the unit based on the sources device (because if you have SOURCES > AVR > VERTEX, then Vertex only can see your AVR), you set the unit based on the display and devices at the output, the whole purpose of Vertex is to feed any of the output sinks at their best, no matter the input signal.
> All devices in HDMI have an EDID, your AVR will see Vertex EDID and forward it to your sources.

In your case, start with EDID slide on AUTOMIX or Custom EDID matching your display specs or above as explained previously (but do not choose a custom EDID with HDR or DV as your PJ is not capable of handling it and AVR not capable of passing thru BT2020)
SCALE slide on autoscaling, PJ connected to TOP out.

The Android APP (GoBlue accessory needed) will appear in a few weeks.

So basically for you:

EDID slide on automix
SCALE slide on autoscaling
AVR at any input
PJ at top out
Add power and you should be good.

The only thing I question is the statement that my AVR isn't capable of passing BT2020. I wasn't aware of this limitation and will research. Originally my AVR didn't have DV pass through support but it was added in the one and only firmware update which has come out for it. I would have assumed that they added BT2020 support at that time (if they didn't already have it). That may be a bad assumption though. The good news is that I will be able to determine this for sure when I get the Integral 2.

I got this statement about your AVR from your post "It also doesn't support BT2020 but it does support DCI/P3 and Rec709"

DV will work anyway since DV travels in RGB container, so even if its BT2020, it appears as RGB when it travels. so BT2020 support is not needed to allow DV to pass thru (it would be needed for LLDV which use another method)

Use Automix/SINK mode for DV support on AVR-Key/Integral. Linker does NOT support all DV.

Oh, sorry. That statement was meant for the Projector and not the AVR... It is the Projector that doesn't support BT2020 but does support Rec709 or DCI/P3

@HDfury

Does the Integral 2 come with a standard PSU or does it have a 5.25V output to cover for voltage drops when using non powered fiber HDMI cables? Remember the regular Integral thread where I described the problem I'm facing ATM.

Thanks!
Mike

Hi Mike,

It use Vertex PCB2 which have this issue solved already, so yes it will solve such issue. (Assuming the active chipset of the connected equipment is not taking way too much power)

Use Automix/SINK mode for DV support on AVR-Key/Integral. Linker does NOT support all DV.

Mine is scheduled to arrive today. Can't wait to try it out. I have an Xbox one x and ps4 connected to a Samsung mu9000 TV and samsung k950 dolby atmos sound bar. I was having drop out issues with avr key so I hope that this will fix my issues.

SCALE slide on AUTOSCALING, TV to BOT OUTPUT, sound bar to TOP OUTPUT
Make sure the unit is unlocked (HOLD RST + press INP button 2 times, then power cycle) if you see the mention "LOCKED" next to firmware version on OSD.
Once unlocked the "locked" mention on OSD will disappear, only FW version displayed normally.

About your question:
It removes limitations that must be present out of the box. It's a step you have to do out of the box and after any firmware flash, as we are not allowed to supply devices/firmware without such limitations.
