Hello, is there any way to get Vertex2 to AUDIO OUT from TX1 via firmware (or other method) for customers who do not need ARC/eARC extraction?

I have TX1 > EPSON 5030ub (1080p) which needs the downscale port from my 4k sources and TX0 > LG OLED E7 in a separate room with a separate receiver providing audio. I have no need to have TX0 sound go to my AVR in the separate theatre room.

No there is no way to do that, if you only play 1080p at TX1 output, then you can just put a 1080p splitter at TX1 output to feed PJ and AVR.
and if you have AVR at AUDIO OUT, then just set TX1 to copy TX0 and that will work just fine unless i missed something or unless you play 2 différents sources at the same time on both displays.

Here are my ideal use cases for the VERTEX2. I also own a now unused INTEGRAL1.

VERTEX2:
TX0 > LG OLED E7; TX1 > EPSON 1080p projector
INPUT0 > X1S; INPUT2 > ODROID N2 (Kodi 4K, HDR, HBR bitstream)
AUDIO OUT > SHERWOOD R-972 AVR 1080p (HDMI 1.3)

LG OLED is in a separate room with different modern AVR . TX0 goes to LG HDMI1.

Use cases:
1. If using the EPSON PJ only in the dedicated theatre room, all is fine. Splitter mode is fine for picture and sound to AVR at AUDIO OUT.

2. Depedning on the family situation we may want to simultanteously play X1S with the PJ while watching Kodi with the OLED or vice versa. AUDIO OUT would ideally output sound from the source feeding the PJ.

I wanted to keep the downscale TX1 port with the PJ so I didn't have to modify the config on the source. Also I do have VERTEX2 configured as CEC because the ODROID N2 works well with the OLED using the regular remote for CEC. Can I turn VERTEX2 CEC off and still do this?

Hope I have explained the ideal use cases well. Was hoping to consolidate to just the VERTEX2 to keep the connections more simple.

Your support for both my INTEGRAL (in the past) and the VERTEX2 is incredible and I'm glad to have the ability to ask questions like this and be confident in a well-written thoughtful response. Thank you!

"well written" i'm not sure, i'm not a native English speaker sorry !

If you still have Integral1, i think you can insert it at TX1 output to feed AVR and PJ.

yes you can turn CEC OFF, that won't prevent TV to send CEC commands to sources connected at Vertex2 input.
In fact, enabling CEC only make Vertex2 discoverable in TV network, nothing else, the option is there mainly in case of ARC/eARC extraction needs, where CEC is mandatory.

I can always understand your written communication - thank you.

Should TX1 be able to send CEC commands to sources? For testing I moved my LG OLED to TX1 and it didn't seem to send any CEC as it did on TX0.

No, in CEC any device with multiple output only have one CEC master output, which is the same used for ARC/eARC

So either Vertex2 or any AVR, the CEC master output is always the one that offer ARC/eARC, which is TX0 on Vertex2.

Hey ive sent a config via discord as i cannot get any audio when trying to watch a netflix show now. On the netflix front page when it previews the series i get sound. Soon as i try to watch a show it goes off?

This is on appletv and skyq. Disney plus on appletv is fine?

Can i ask if owners of other avr(marantz anthem etc) have this issue or is it nad only?

If you post something in discord, then use discord please, cannot do back and forth like that, thanx.
only nad avr have issue as wrote my many in previous pages.

if NAD is at AUDIO OUT then use AUTOMIX and AUDIO OUT audio flag, if NAD at TX1 which is where you should use it for the moment, then use AUTOMIX with TX1 audio flag

Shipping was made right before Chinese New Year, when you got delivery please let us know and please try to insert either Dr.HDMI that was shipped to you between AUDIO OUT and NAD input and then AVR-Key which was also shipped to you between AUDIO OUT and NAD AVR input, let us know if both or only one or none fix the sound issue you are having.

Hello,

I picked up the package this afternoon, I have to work tonight, so no time to test.
I'll do the tests tomorrow afternoon and let you know how it went.
Do I report back through the forum, or PM?
And is it useful for you to send a config of every test situation?

Kind regards,

Gunther.

Hello,

You can post feedback here or via PM/email/support server, as you prefer, does not matter much for us.
Config is not needed presently, what we are interested in is knowing if one of the device sent (which one ? ) or both of them .. or none of them fix the issue.
As we know already that inserting a device such as Vertex between audio out and NAD input fixes all issues with NAD AVR. so this test is to determine what exactly is helping the nad issue.
If Dr.HDMI solves the issue then we know it's a signal integrity issue, if AVR Key only solves the issue, then we know it is a handshake issue, etc...

Not sure yet, need test results and then see what we can deduct from it, it can be fast or takes some time, cannot say atm but should know more soon.

If you had another unit at output between audio out and nad input then it will fix the issue, this is confirmed by one nad owner using Vertex1, so we are trying to determine what exactly resolves it when introducing another unit in between.

Shield>Vertex2>Lyngdorf mp50>JVC nx7. Not able to get correct Gamma setting. I can get 10+ and all audio. I get prompts for DV in the advanced settings. I rebooted to all default settings so I’m starting from scratch (again). I am very new to this. 👨*🎓. I am able to get DV with my Apple 4K.

I should clarify that I got nothing going direct to PJ from Vertex. I was told by Nvidia customer service that the aShield needed to be connected to a processor in ordered to do DV.

What is the purpose of Vertex2 in your setup ?

For DV, you need to be in EDID > AUTOMIX mode, yet all that depends if your AVR copy PJ EDID correctly or not.
So if automix fails then try :

SHIELD > VERTEX2 > TX0 t JVC and TX1 to LYNGDORF
in automix make sure VIDEO flag is set to TX0 and Audio Flag is set to TX1.

IF problem send config export (webserver > config > config export)

Maestro: 4I/4O +4K HDR over HDBT +Autoswitch any sources +HDMI/ARC/eARC sound to AVR input +webserver. [Won Best Product Award]
Diva: 4I/3O +Ambient Light +Lag Tester +4K HDR > 1080p SDR +HDMI/ARC/eARC sound to AVR input +autoswitch +webserver.
Vertex2: 4I/3O +Autoswitch any sources +HDMI/ARC/eARC sound to AVR input +webserver.

Thank you very much for your advice. I will try and post results. I put the Vertex in the loop because I was unable to get any immersive audio formats with Atv and I had read about so many scenarios where similar issues were resolved with the Vertex. I didn’t know what I didn’t know. That being said I am unable to get DV with the V2 out of the loop. Thanks again!

If you are unable to get Atmos from the ATV, it could be that your audio processor does not support the Dolby MAT 2.0 flavor of Atmos. If that is the case, the Vertex2 can't help. It can pass through Dolby MAT Atmos but cannot convert it to bit-streamed audio.

The Vertex2 is what allows you to send LLDV to your JVC as the JVC on its own does not support Dolby Vision.

Correct, if the JVC PJ does not support DV then you also need to check CUSTOM DV STRING option in AUTOMIX

Hello,

I ran the test you asked for this afternoon,

1. Atv 4K --> vertex2 --> audio out --> DR HDMI --> NAD T777
--> no difference, just pcm surround or dolby digital out

2. Atv 4K --> vertex2 --> audio out --> ultra avr key --> NAD T777
--> everything works out the way it's supposed to, dolby atmos from Atv4K
and all other devices work as they should

Vertex settings; auto mix, video flags : TX0, audio flags :audio out

Dr HDMI I tried with edid 1 & 8 --> no difference, doesn't work
AVR Key tried with default settings --> works as it should

Kind regards

Gunther
