Wink Any advice for me to choose a pair of headphones?

Hey guys,
I wanna buy a pair of headphones recently. The budget is under $100. And I prefer bluetooth headphones. Active noise cancelling will be better. But the most important thing is the sound quality. So do you have any advice or recommendation?

Sure. Forget Bluetooth and active noise canceling if your main concern is sound quality. These are a little over your budget but IMO you should buy once and cry once. These sound good and are easy to drive.

The Monoprice BT-400 wireless headphones are currently on sale for $32.99/shipped. What's interesting about these is they appear to be rebranded headphones same as the discontinued RBH HP-1B that used to sell for $200. I had the HP-1B headphones and they were very good, but no ANC, same as these BT-400 from Monoprice.

I'm not specialist however I bought mine Sennheiser hd4.50 for 99$ if you can find such a deal those are very nice headphones (but a little bit small frankly speaking). The other option could be V-moda (but those are without noise cancellation but sound quality really good and very very comfortable). That's my recommendation based on my small experience.
Greetings!

I would always go with sennheiser. if you arent planning on using a headphone amp, I would stay away from any cans that are greater than 150ohms.

why stay away from anything over 150 ohms? - don't most decent AVR's have headphone jacks that have plenty of power for a 250 Ohm headphone? I am confused on this subject - have read that some AVR's have headphone jacks that are actually too powerful and that's why some modern headphones that are designed to use with PC's phones, etc. do NOT sound good when plugged into a AVR. So, they suggest that your better off getting high ohm headphones - up to 600 ohms to improve the "ohm ratio" and "headroom" - what ever that means. NOT arguing as I haven't a clue and trying to educate myself on the subject.

you will limit the use if buying a 600ohm headphone...like if take headphones with you and use your phone or plug it into a computer. if you have an amp, buy whatever....

Very true- but my phone doesn't have a Headphone jack anyhow- so only BT. So ,for me buying wired headphones would be for home audio only = jacked out of my AVR.

I own 7 or 8 wired headphones: focal, sennheiser 600,58xx, 363d, beyerdynamics, fostex tr60p, tinhifi 2's and 3's....my everyday youtube pair are the senn/massdrop 58xx...they cheap/comfortable/sound good.

The difficulty is apparently trying to figure out what the actual output specs are for my Denon 3400 - no info in manual, support chat said is 1 volt= 16 ohm. BTU they didn't seem all that confident. Have read articles that say many AVR/receivers have a headphone jack output up around 250 ohms ( crazy high) - so would then need the 600 ohm DT 990 premium headphones to even come close to sounding good.

Bose has the goto patents on Noise Cancellation tech/algorithms

I would suggest used/open box/refurb/sale Bose QC25's

https://www.amazon.com/Bose-QuietCom...tronics&sr=1-3

with an add on BT receiver
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You get a QC35 equivalent for much less.

Actually better- the QC25's NC feature is powered by a standard, easy to replace battery, plus you can update the BT receiver as BT evolves (BT 4.1>5.0>5.x>6.x, AptX>LDAC, etc)

For probably IP license cost reasons, Bose doesn't do AptX/LDAC

That said, I also bought a set of PSB M4U8's used at auction for ~$200 shipped like new complete in box.
Excellent NC and music sound quality- been a PSB speaker guy since the 90's

See avsforum review
https://www.avsforum.com/psb-m4u-8-w...ng-headphones/

PSB appears to use their own NC algorithm, and it works and sounds good.

Make an Offer is your friend

Sony WH-H990N open box

I recommend the Sony WH-H900N. I just bought an open box pair from eBay for just a tad over your budget (like $9 but open box sellers are lower). I was just curious since RTINGS.COM gave them a pretty high score for the "Critical Listening" category. If I liked them enough they were to be gifted to my girlfriend. She's been enjoying them for a week now! This model must be listened to using noise cancellation on for best sound. And I prefer the aptX-HD codec (vs. LDAC or aptX, all three this model does, in addition to AAC) with my LG V20, but I paired them to my laptop via regular old SBC and the sound was pretty good. EQ to tweak the bass or not, I dropped it a bit since I'm not a total basshead, but do love tight, controlled and full range bass (and these do fine by me with bass if EQ'd). The headphones are good enough for my goldenish ears (and I mostly listen to my music library playlists, all Apple Lossless). Actually thinking of buying me a pair to have around for convenience. Also have several wired cans (AKG, Sennheiser, Sony, and Shure IEMs).
