WH-1000XM3 alternative

I am looking for a pair of headphones comparable to the WH-1000XM3's. However, I cannot use headphones with noise-canceling due to the pressure aspect related to a medical issue. I do not like the quality difference of the WH-1000XM3's with noise-canceling turned off.

I was recommended to try studio headphones. I do not need the bells and whistles, I only want then for listening to music (Classic and modern rock, new and modern metal, and some electronic and EDM).

What options would you recommend that are equal or better than the WH-1000XM3's? Since my phone is USB-C, would an adapter run quality of the headphones are not wireless?

Thank you for your help,

Ky

There are lots of options that better the WH-1000XM3's if you don't need wireless or noise cancelling. Those are the headphones to buy if noise cancelling is important. I'll just throw out a few options that you can research. Grado GH-3, Audio-Technica ATH-M50x, Sennheiser HD600. You can get a USB-C to 1/4" adapter.

If you want wireless and leave the NC off check out the Bose Quiet Comfort 35 II. The Bose Soundlink 2 Wireless do not have NC and sound very good. One more good option that comes in wireless with no NC and wired is the Focal Listen.

Polk LSIM 703 / ADS L710 / AKG K240 Studio cans / Martin Logan Dynamo 300
NAD 720Bee / Schiit Modi 3 / Yamaha CD-S300 / XBOX One X
