Headphone Extension cable

I have a sennheiser 650. The headphone cord is not long enough to reach my sitting area. I want to purchase an extension cord to plug from the end of the provided cord to my receiver. What cords are recommended so as not to compromise the headphone fidelity?

The primary issue is the length of the cable. The audio grows fainter the further you go, in my setup going over 5.5m there was an audible loss of volume, but not sure if quality as well.
The 650 already has a 3m cable.

The cable should be shielded and resistant to wear and tear. I use cheap cables, but don't have the 650's.
Something like this:

It also depends on the source. What is the source?

Grado extension cables would do fine, hardly any signal degradation. Also you can accidentally step on them lots before they break. Yes. I owned cheaper/thinner 10 bucks ones with less sound..had to replace them 1 or twice a year after i accedentally stepped on them. Grado is way to expensive though...like 50/60 bucks these days. Probably can get much cheaper brand with similar result.

I previously used Grado headphones that is when i bought those. Now i use the cable with a HD600.

It's due to impedance, use lower gauge(thicker) wire and you should be fine.

what's the distance? and like noob asked, what's the source, an avrs 1/4" jack on the front? a tv?

Ive wondered about the shielding, it's not a low level signal like between components or microphone. I like quadrapole wiring, I've put 500mG smps on the headphone cable for my el8s(balanced star quad) and noticed no difference in sound quality, so the wire geometry does reject emi well, same with rfi.

It is going into an NAD 758v3 receiver. I only need another 3m or so.

With the hd650s being 300ohm I don't think impedance or damping is anything to be concerned with

Hmm, at best

Then you would just need a 1/4" to 3.5mm adapter.

But I'd be suprised if you heard a difference between that and

I use Grado's extension cable with my 650 and 800S headphones. Works just fine, with no degradation of sound.

You said you needed 3m, that's a hair over 9 ft.

I always like to have a bit of extra length two. I can get up and move around if I need to, get something out of a drawer ect.

I saw one for 21 bucks on a US site. I had mine replaced last year after 10 years or so the new one was from a private seller for 25 euro.

In general, I'm always pleased with monoprice. I buy my HDMI cables from them. I have a couple of RCA cables from them. Never had a problem. I just didn't see a 6 ft extension cord on their website. I saw a 6 ft with the female end being 3.5 mm. Not TRS 1/4".
