I just received my LG OLED C7 55". Total novice here. I also have bought an Apple TV 4K.

What are the best settings to use under "Video"?

Should I enable Dolby Vision? And under Match Content should both DR and FR be activated?

Yup, same here. Tried several with 5.1 in description. All 2.1.

Yes I checked Grand Tour and Sneaky Pete. Both activated HDR on my Sony. I do have 11.2 installed with Match Dynamic Range set to on.

HDR is working for me. HDR on Amazon, though, always makes the video look too dark, almost as if the contrast has been turned down just a little too much;black is crushed just a bit. I see this not only on the ATV 4K, but also on Roku. If I switch to 4K SDR, the black levels look normal. My TV is a Sony 65” X900e. Does anyone else see this or is it just me?

Yeah I see similar with Amazon on my X930E. Look at something like Grand Tour, it is shot more in the daylight. Something like Sneaky Pete is really dark but I think it was partially shot that way.

I had a 75" X900e briefly and noticed this too. I returned it for an LG OLED which looks punchy as hell. To get brighter colors on the Sony I had to turn on one of the Dynamic Color settings to high (forget what it was called). That made it much brighter and colors popped, but unfortunately, it made SDR content look like hell. If I remember correctly, the Sony locks the auto brightness to "on" in HDR mode. I think it is too aggressive with it's dimming. I hated that.

Having problems with AV sync with the prime video app. Video trailing audio. No problems with other apps like Netflix.

There is no one right answer to your questions. It really depends on whether you want the ATV to convert everything to the same format, or pass through each piece of content in its original format. I have a 65C7 and go with DV enabled, and both match settings set to On. Some on this forum don’t want to drive their sets in DV mode unless the original content is in DV, to avoid stressing their hardware. With an LG this shouldn’t be an issue, so you can just try it both ways and see what you like.

LG OLED 65C7P <- Oppo UDP-203 -> Denon AVR-X4300H; Dish Hopper; Apple TV 4K; Paradigm speakers

I have a 4K version that I can get the Amazon app on the app store. Does anyone know if they are pushing this to Apple TV MD199LL/A (3rd generation) that don't have app stores?

Amazon seems to be working fine for me and it's nice to see the integration with the TV app. HDR is quite good and working.

However, even though Amazon is saying 5.1 on their display it is only giving stereo no matter the setting on ATV.

Why Apple TV 4K Amazon vs LG Amazon app?

A newbie here. Just wondering what advantage, if any, to using Apple TV 4k to view Amazon Prime movies vs using the app on LG's webOS?

To route through your AVR for your surround sound speaker system without using TV speakers or ARC, if that is your setup (like it is mine).

Mainly for the convenience of not switching inputs. The AppleTV now has pretty much all major apps except for Youtube TV. Also on the AppleTV it appears to integrate Amazon into the TV app which shows you the next show playing on the home screen (from any app that supports this).

It's also very possible that the video quality on the AppleTV is superior as the AppleTV wins in this category often. The Apple TV 4K also always wins in speed (my experience).

I have an LG B7 OLED and the built-in Amazon app looks and works better than on the new and old 4K Fire TV box. Tonight I will be able to see if it looks the same or better on the AppleTV.

The only thing AppleTV lags in now is audio format/quality as there is no Atmos and still some dynamic range issues, though it's not terrible by any means.

The folks that aren't getting surround sound out of the Amazon app... Are you using HDMI ARC or are you going straight to a receiver?

I have my Apple TV connected to LG and the receiver connected to the LG via ARC HDMI.

Its actually worse on the Apple TV since you cant make purchases, subscriptions, etc so content is more limited. You only get access to prime content with the Apple TV app.

They are probably better off using prime video with the WebOS , Shield TV or Roku depending on their needs.

This is a valid point. If you want/need to make purchases through your TV the ATV is not ideal. You need to purchase/rent on a PC or through a browser before it'll show up in the ATC app.

Personally, I don't really buy/rent through Amazon so my use case is Prime Video only.

How do we report the stereo-only audio issue with the Amazon app? To Amazon or Apple or both?

Nice to come over to see that we got AP before the end of the year. I'm about to download to my ATV4K. Sucks that 5.1 isn't enabled yet, but it would seem to be a pretty easy fix on Amazon's end.

I chatted with Amazon support and was told they are aware of the issue and are working on the fix. I don't think Apple has anything to do with this one so no use contacting them.
