Just updated my X930E and same. Going to play around with cables and see if that helps.

Works with the built in Netflix app.....but the ATV just refuses to enable DV.

You same here. DV works fine with native apps but my ATV4K isn’t kicking it on. I don’t even see it as an option in the video options after hard resets and cable unplugging.

I don't see the DV option either. I've tried different cables and plugging the ATV directly into the TV. Nothing works.

I haven't looked at my Apple TV settings since the last OS update but I just checked it now and there is no longer a 4K Dolby Vision option. There is only 4k HDR, SDR etc. There was an option to choose DV as the output. I keep it set the 4K SDR with Matching Contrast and Frame Rate on. I figured I'd try and force it with the menu option but it's gone.

I use 4K SDR with Match Range. No variation of the settings will get the TV to switch to DV. The new update does provide a DV popup in the upper right (verified this via Netflix with the built in apps). I don't have any other DV devices, so not sure about the menus. Maybe someone with a current OLED can say if they still show Enable DV vs Enable HDR in the menus?

I did reach out to John Archer from Forbes and he's looking into it. He wonders if they limited support via HDMI until that DV fix could be released. He said he'd reply if/when he hears anything.

Typical....Always something. You wait and wait and then you need to wait some more. It seems by the time they give you what they sold you on there will be an all new format and no one will even care about DV anymore. That's the A/V industry.

Your 930E already got the DV update? I didn't realize Sony had started the software updates. I know it was supposed to start as early as mid-Jan.

However that still doesn't explain why it doesn't show up in the Apple Output settings menu. It was there before when the TV definitely didn't support DV. Makes no sense. It may be an ATV thing.

Interesting. I’ve never seen DV in my ATV settings.

If anyone has a DV capable Blu-ray player or another device to try let us know if that works. My ATV is my only DV device.

Really? How long have you owned it? I got mine mid-December and I always had the option to output 4K DV or 4K HDR amongst all the others. It would just show up on my set as HDR. Those options are completely gone now.

I’ve had it since launch. Never had a DV set though so only have the option for HDR.

Apple TV owners' thread.

My ATV doesn't give me the DV option on my non-DV Sony 940E. Although when I bought the ATV back in November, I could have sworn DV was an option I could select even though it would have been converted to HDR10.

Update: just did the DV software update for the TV and still no DV option in my ATV video settings after rebooting everything.

One post over in blu-ray.com saying the Oppo 203 is also not triggering DV with an updated 940E.

Triggering the Dolby Vision prompt/setup

Video chain: ATV4K -> X-4300H -> C7P or ATV4K -> C7P or ATV4K -> Vertex -> C7P

In my experience enabling Dolby Vision can be tricky. At one point in experimenting nothing would work except an ATV reset. It seemed as if the ATV stored the display EDID and if that device ever failed DV or it was skipped -- no DV button for you.

My tests were casual and ad hoc but it definitely could be a better user experience.

I might type 2K for 1080p.

With reports of the Oppo not triggering DV either.....I'm waiting, hopefully for official word, before doing a full reset (have done the Video settings reset).

I'm still waiting for my processor to get the DV update. Hopefully all the bugs will be ironed out by then.

That's because those numbers include the letterbox bars. HD is 1.78:1 and the links I provided have the image aspect ratios for those productions. 2.00:1 results in very narrow bars that one* can easily miss in a dim room against a narrow black bezel (e.g. C7P).

*Well okay, I can easily miss.

Anyone having issues with Watch ESPN app not going to screensaver?

Running update 11.2.5 (15K5549a) with home sharing screensaver set to start after 2 minutes of static screen. I've updated (previous update was doing this too, today), rebooted and toggled settings. I see screensaver launch in settings menu but not ESPN replay of Australian Open match from earlier today. Continual static screen when paused.

Edit: uninstalled ESPN app, rebooted and reinstalled. Same issue with no screensaver after 2 minutes minutes of pause. Waited several minutes; same static image.

Edit 2: submitted bug report here

Can someone check their iTunes versions of The Dark Knight and TDNR to see if they're getting 4K? Both of mine are upgraded from BR redeems, show 4K and DV on the info screen, but stream as HD for me, according to the ATV swipe down and my projector info.

Thanks.

Did you redeem in iTunes? If not then where and was it 4K or HD?

I redeemed the BR codes in iTunes when I originally bought the discs. When the 4K versions released, my iTunes copies upgraded to 4K DV. Like I said, the first screen notes both. When I play them, I?m only getting the HD stream.

I seem to remember several other posters talking about this over the last few weeks. Maybe it's a glitch as you should have them if you had the HD copies that where originally redeemed in iTunes.

If you redeemed directly in ITunes and not MoviesAnywhere or A UV site then they should be upgraded. What it shows in the “play” screen is irrelevant as it will show the highest available version NOT what you own. You’ll need to contact Apple for resolution on this one as they would be able to resolve it for you. What you are explaining is a typical Movies Anywhere/UV redemption outside of ITunes where you get the HD version (even though it shows DV/HDR in play screen).

Warner Bros doesn't do direct iTunes redeems, so if you redeemed via Movies Anywhere then they won't upgrade.

That?s all exactly what I found out after an hour on the phone with three people at Apple support. Now I know that I will be buying the disc trilogy for the higher bitrate and True HD soundtracks.

I guess the respect of the title of this thread has been lost due to all the latest comments above. The "Redeeming 4k/UHD Codes" thread could sure use this info though.
