I noticed the same thing on my ATV4K connected to my TV using my TV’s built in speakers. The volume on HBOGO was so low it was very hard to hear any dialog. When I switched my ATV to output stereo the volume was much louder.

My TV supports Atmos and I was watching HBOGO, which streams 5.1. Perhaps that interplay contributed to the issue. I didn’t notice the volume being off on other apps like DisneyNOW.

I also have all 3 of both CA and Thor... I think the reason you see many of them twice is because at first they were distributed as Paramount movies and now they are considered from Marvel studios. If you look in the description one copy will say Paramount and the other Marvel.

If you check the screen shot you will see I also have all 3 iron man movies but only 2 are the newer release. When I tell my ATV4K to watch IM2 it prioritizes the free newer copy on Prime over the older copy still in my iTunes. And in the iTunes Store IM2 comes up as something I can buy because I still have the old version.

Signs point to no.

I might type 2K for 1080p.

As recently noted this is an HBO issue and not limited to the ATV.

I might type 2K for 1080p.

Yup - superb episode - reminds you how much you love these characters - the ones we loose will be a gut wrench. Sorry off topic!

Alien in iTunes has been upgraded to 4K HDR.

I admire its purity.

Just watched this in my HT. What a masterpiece. May be my favorite 4K title.

It’s been several days and movies have still not been switched back to 4K. In fact some of them are not even showing as HD. I read the posts above about Apple being a storefront, kind of ridiculous.

I love iTunes and my ATV4K and currently they made me very happy by upgrading my $4.99 copy of Alien to 4K HDR.

However,... The statement that they can sell you things they have no control over is amazing. I hope they have good lawyers and advisors because it really doesn't not seem fair to sell something they can't control. Maybe it's new math or just a sign of how things have got a bit fuzzy in the ownership department. I hope they cover their butt because it looks like a easy class action lawsuit type of problem to me.

They say they can sell it to me but someone else owns it. ... I'm old fashioned I guess because that makes no sense to me. I think if I buy it I should own something ... Working it through it seems what you buy in iTunes is the ability to DL a HD copy. At the same time what you buy tends to result in a state of art 4K HDR copy that is here today gone tomorrow which you can't DL.

This is why I will always continue to buy physical movies and see the digital entitlement as an added bonus.

The fact that they do not charge extra for 4K versions of movies likely protects them even more.

As far as you hoping they have good lawyers and advisors, I don't think you need to worry about Apple in that regard.

I'm glad they know what's what in the lawyer dept. Hopefully even with Qualcom.

And you're right... I think having the 4K not cost more is a way to cover them because they can continue to suggest they are only selling HD and provision of 4K is as available.

I'm as dedicated as can be to iTunes and I want these sorts of problems to work out.

Hopefully? They already settled out of court with Qualcomm and they will likely be supplying modems for their 2020 phones.

I wish you luck with that lawsuit. There are laws against copying your own media in the US as well, even though you e bought a physical copy. They are a store front not the owners of said content. The studios control the IP, not the stores that sell them. People always get up in arms when this happens (especially newer folks). What some don’t realize is that studios will pull to upgrade audio, transfer, etc. if it’s an MA title and you own the 4K “rights” that will usually be available on different platforms as well.

Well, I wouldn't sue them. I'm not into that sort of thing but I have seen lawsuits for less like the class action against Madden by 2K sports which worked or the class action against Ticketmaster. I am trying to be on Apple's side in any and all ways.

I have 6 or 8 UHD discs and somewhere around 230 4K iTunes movies. The ATV4K has been pretty much everything I could want but the way stuff dis-appears does leave at least a little room for improvement.

Recently I had problems with my Marvel movies. Looking into my purchase history I redeemed some of those back in 2012. There were distributed by Paramount and how they have Marvel listed as the studio but seem to fall under Disney's umbrella.

I re bought Captain America and Thor. I may re-buy Iron Man 2.... That one still shows up in my library but I can't stream it to my phone and in the store it shows up to buy or rent not as owned.

I mention this because it brought to my attention many of the movies I enjoy the most are the ones studios want to repackage over and over and over again. When this results in a better product (as it usually does) it helps take the sting out of it.

In iTunes I was quick to put favorites - Bond, Star Wars, Terminator, While these movies may not be the BEST movies they are the funnest movies so I continue to adore them. At least I still have Blu Rays of the stuff if I get tired of rebuying it.

This could be why Apple or the content provider has pulled some movies from iTunes.

Edit: Yes the story is from March, but it still may be relevant.

Its been happening since the Apple TV 4k was released though. They go down for a variety of reasons. Sometimes they come back with an atmos track...other times they come back with issues fixed (e.g. fixing the way a scene was cut in 2001 a space odyssey)

Apple makes the constraints clear and advises that if you want a "perpetual" copy you should download the HD version. Since Apple makes it quite clear I don't see how anyone can expect to prevail in court.

You might as well sue them for a billion dollars because they hurt your feelings.

I might type 2K for 1080p.

Ok, lets all forget the lawsuit comment.

I should DL my HD copies ... I have enough space I am always looking for that time frame when no one else will be bothered by the hit in bandwidth.

I suppose then I would have to find them in the computers panel on the ATV (shared by another computer running iTunes.)

Fortunately. .... This happens fairly rarely and maybe it will happen less rather than more going forward.

The DC is actually about a minute shorter (I know, it's unusual). Ridley Scott himself has said he prefers the theatrical version and considers it the true 'Director's Cut.'

If you want the “full” experience then the theatrical. The DC “add” scenes were not graded for HDR (so I hear).

Hello, everyone. My preprocessor doesn't support HDMI 2.0 , so I connect Apple TV 4k to HDMI in of Oppo UDP-203, then I connect HDMI video/audio from Oppo UDP-203 to Sony VPL-VW695ES and HDMI audio from Oppo UDP-203 to my preprocessor. I have a problem with Apple TV 4k connecting via Oppo UDP-203. The menu is very sluggish and I see a lot of dropout in video and audio. I can't watch any contents on Apple TV 4k.
Has anyone ever experienced this situation like me? Is this a bug or glitch between Apple TV 4k and Oppo UDP-203? I updated both Apple TV 4k and Oppo UDP-203 to latest firmware.
Thank you for your help.
