What's your exact tvOS version?

Ok. The reason I ask is that there's still a minor bug with the current beta release. I'm starting to think it's eco-system related to include Sony CEC.

Interesting. Unless the update turned CEC back on, I have it off on all devices. I’ll make sure to check tonight.

Just thinking out loud...

End-to-end device chains (including cable brand/specs) along with OS/FW versions would help to solve challenges more effectively.

Just saying!

I know it's been sometime since I said this but:

I highly dislike CEC

Does this sound better:

I'm CEC relationship challenged

I hope someone smiles

Any Ideas

Any ideas?

So went to watch some Netflix Dolby Vision Programming, and everything was green! Reset my Apple TV, Everything green on Dolby Vision and 4K HDR. 4K SDR OK. Swapped cabling, no help.

Sony 940E worked great with its onboard apps. Dolby Vision was great. So eliminated the TV and cabling as culprits. Only thing left is the MX122 which just passes thru. So any ideas?

Thanks

Test your cabling by going directly to the TV and bypass the MX122. If still green its the cabling.

Had a expensive Cinnamon cable, replaced it with the ATV cable of choice, the Belkin 4k Dobly Vision cable. Still green screen. Bypassed the MX122, and got Dolbyvision. Cables good. Unfortunately I believe the MX122 has an issue. UGH

MA

Frame rate : 31.250 FPS (1536 SPF)

More frames = More Mbps? Quite a few other differences as well where the mediainfo shown for “spider -verse” from one streamer is different or missing for the other.

But just when I am not sure what you are getting at you post a dump of Netflix’s Stranger Thngs (another 23.976 FPS at 15.5 Mb/s this time) obviously compared to nothing since nobody else carries it...

So is your point that different companies stream at different frame rates / bit rates.... but if that’s the case wouldn’t the native frame rate of ~24 fps be better than 31.5 fps?

That's an odd one. I have an odd color push (most colors the same or extreme to that tint) that happens nearly as often as I change an HDMI connection on the TV.

I have to power down TV, pull power plug and even hold TV power button down (remote or TV) until the red power indicator LED extinguishes. Then disconnect everything from TV and reconnect before applying power again. Usually shows up in the ATV4K HDMI input as color push but I treat it like a TV issue.

I just saw something yesterday on the ATV4K where it seemed like the whites were overexposed on the home screen. I wonder if this is what you mean by "color push"?

Agreed. I just wanted to add to your comment with the comments concerning Harmony hub and beta Bluetooth for ATV4K. 2nd paragraph.

For standby sleep mode, the Siri remote can do this too with a long press of home, wait for white LED to extinguish then release and press select at prompt. But I believe the TV has to be on and remain on that input to work best. I'm not in front of it to verify at the moment; but recall having to do it repeatedly with TV off or on another input to get the ATV4K in standby. If wanting to go with a third party solution, consider the Harmony remotes compatible with Harmony hub.

To add to the Harmony remote suggestion, if you use the Harmony hub with Bluetooth beta for the ATV4K, you can instantly put the ATV4K into standby at power off or start of another activity that doesn't include the ATV4K. The white LED extinguishes when you're done with the Apple TV activity if you use option to power down devices not used in setup.

Help option on the Harmony touchscreen remote is useful too but for occasional wake issues with the ATV4K, home or menu with either remote works well too.

Mostly one single color. Darker colors would be pushed that direction by the push of same color (mixed). But black borders were just that, as I recall. I've referred to it as a tint push in the past.

Hi,

On the Harmony remotes work well with ATV4K topic. I mostly use the Siri remote or the remote that is in my iPhone control center but I keep a small harmony near by and one of my kids prefers to use it. (It came with my harmony hub which I do make use of )

I'll try that procedure, thanks. I'll also call Mcintosh to find out any new info. Although, when I select a Dolbyvision program off Netflix, It comes across as Dolbyvision. Match content is selected on my APTV.

I don't use my ATV4K all that much, but last night my remote was again acting as if the ATV was busy with something and slow-to-respond, both to swipes and to clicks. I had just updated the ATV and wonder if maybe it could be doing some sort of re-organization or garbage cleanup or something because this slowness has happened to me in the past. Just about the time I am ready to throw the bloody thing against the wall or out-the-window it starts to act nice again.

Not the best remote!

I use this remote almost exclusively—just does not work with Siri and when scrubbing.

It is very wife friendly and can control 6 devices. Mine is 18 months old and still on its first set of batteries!! Love that it does not need to sit in a dock like other harmonies.

I believe you must use the hub with it. Also can use your iPhone as well as it can talk to the hub (and you then also have access to the iPhone appletv remote, Siri, keyboard input, scrubbing....)

What I have come to realize is that the Apple TV 4k is smart enough to know that the Marantz AV7702 (Ver1) does not support a bitstream of MAT 2.0. So the Apple TV doesn't even display the ATMOS option in the audio settings.

So ATMOS works fine for the OPPO UHD disk player but ATMOS is not available on the Apple TV because of the way Apple implemented ATMOS. Bummer

No doubt, it is annoying for many purists that Apple opted to handle all audio as either PCM or AC-3 and many would argue that should Apple allow bitstreaming it would be the ultimate stream box. Siri doesn't speak on the Apple TV so it isn't that but perhaps they wanted to avoid too many switches trying to mix in system sounds so they embedded it in a pre-decoded PCM signal.
After a bunch of research it looks like the Marantz AV7702 (version1) does not support ATMOS over MAT 2.0. So my problem is the way Apple implemented ATMOS over MAT 2.0. As ATMOS from other sources, OPPO UHD, works.

So your problem is with the way Marantz provides Amos in your model. Apple isn't the only company that uses MAT.

This is a chronic problem. New protocols (AC-3, E-AC-3, TruHD, HLG-HDR, DoVi, Atmos, MAT, eARC ... ) come out and old gear doesn't support them.

I might type 2K for 1080p.

This is a chronic problem. New protocols (AC-3, E-AC-3, TruHD, HLG-HDR, DoVi, Atmos, MAT, eARC ... ) come out and old gear doesn't support them.
