I’m posting in all four device threads as I am completely stumped.
4K sources: ATV 4K and Panasonic UB820
Displays: TCL R615 and JVC RS500
AVR: Denon 4300
Cables: all used have been Monoprice certified Hi Speed, or Ruipro. I’ve tried every one I own just in case. All the cables worked perfectly in every scenario excepting only the problems below. But in the end, to eliminate all variables, I wound up testing everything with the same two cables and the exact same inputs and outputs of my Denon. Because I have dual monitor outputs, I did test with both outputs on, and with only one at a time. Made no difference.
No matter what I do, I can not pass many needed 4K resolutions through my Denon 4300 to my TCL R615. I can pass any and all resolutions through the Denon to my RS500. I can pass any and all resolutions from either 4K source directly to the TV. I have tried every HDMI input on the Denon, and both HDMI outputs.
But from my ATV, (to the TV) I can not get HDR to pass through the Denon. The cable test always fails, and it reverts to 4K SDR.
From the UB820 (to the TV), I can not output 60HZ in HDR. I get an image that looks like a fuzzy all green scale image. For UHD discs, I can solve this by turning 24P to Auto. But that does not solve Amazon HDR. No matter what combinations of settings I use, all Amazon HDR content is displayed with this same green look. Netflix HDR looks fine as long as 24P is enabled.
To reiterate: All of these tests work perfectly through the Denon to the projector. They all work perfectly directly from device to the TV. I’ve eliminated all cable, and input/output variables, but when going through the Denon, I can not get HDR to my TV.
I’m hoping someone has an idea what’s going on.
Thanks very much,
