I would argue that it was semi on topic. The ATV4K is a STREAMING box. A lot of this stuff certainly overlaps. There’s been tons of posts in this thread that are not directly related to the ATV but, I don’t see a reason for panties to get in a wad over it when it goes outside of ones own interests. I mean, until “ATV6” comes out, what new and innovative discussion is going to happen here?!?!

For the first time, I'm now seeing this behavior with Netflix app as well.

Although I have not “cut the cord” and am unlikely to do so, I thought the discussion of cord cutting problems and solutions was interesting and not especially far afield, given the ATV’s many streaming options. Opinions may vary, of course, but I suggest others enjoyed the diversion too.

I think you can get Dr. Who streaming on Britbox. Also available streaming on Crave in Canada. You might be able to confirm these sources or find others for you location here:

Checked it, my wife has Britbox set up through Amazon already. At least that way, it was only available as a purchase from Amazon separately. Anyway after talking with Xfinity some more about various package options vs dumping them entirely, we're just leaving things as is for now. Maybe we'll revisit when the current contract is actually up again. I'm going to look into picking up our own cable/voice modem though which will shave $15 a month off though it will take a few months for that purchase to even out. I guess if we watched less stuff we wouldn't need 20 different services and apps to watch it all lol.

This really is far afield from the purpose of this forum. It is unfortunate that people don’t respect requests to take the conversation to a more appropriate place.

Came across more as a cry for help. Let’s move on. We will all survive a few momentary detours. We aren’t made out of sugar.

Get over yourself, the request was valid. These threads are not people's personal playgrounds... It has nothing to do with being soft, its called being courteous.

Scoldings from self appointed Thread Police are generally unwelcome, it seems to me. Alas in other forums, AVS posters seem to have the reputation of being critical and judgmental. One easy way to avoid that is to alert the moderators to posts we deem inappropriate, while keeping our own counsel in our public posts. This way we do what we can to preserve a thread’s integrity but avoid criticizing our fellow posters.

Had a Bluetooth speaker connection question but I solved it.

Have to pair in the BlueTooth settings before it finds it in the audio output menus.

Operator error on my part.

Installed an Apple TV 4K and having problems getting Atmos. I changed the settings on the Apple TV to Dolby Atmos. The Apple TV is connected to a Panasonic ZT 1080P TV through a Denon 4500 and the TV's ARC HDMI. I can get 5.1 but not 5.1.4 on shows like Star Trek Picard and Discovery. The Apple TV is streaming via a wireless connection. Maybe thats the problem, but I do plan to eventually connect my the Apple TV directly to the modem via a Cat 5 cable.

Is Atmos possible on my Apple 4K TV with my equipment and setup?

with Picard & Discovery via CBSAA (the standalone app) on ATV4K, you get 1080p DV/DD+ 5.1 only. I also have roku and it only gives 1080p/DD+ 5.1 at least that is my experience. that's been my experience.

If this is still a problem: are you using the front panel HDMI input? It's bandwidth limited and will show this behavior if you send more than [email protected]

I might type 2K for 1080p.

Can someone confirm for me that I've got my black levels set up correctly between my AppleTV 4K and my LG C8? I understand how a mismatch will result in the image being either lifted or crushed, but I also know that every manufacturer has a different name how they define full range vs limited range, and often times those names are counter-intuitive.

Anyway, I have my AppleTV set to RGB High and on my LG C8 the Black Level is set to Low. This seems correct to me, though when I was watching Star Wars last night it felt a bit crushed.

Fake EDIT: Unless I need to set the black level per-input for Dolby Vision and HDR?

Real EDIT: Ok so in Dolby Vision the Black Level on the TV is locked to Low. And in plain-HDR it can be changed, but I've left it set to Low. So that tells me the TV has to be set to Low. And if I change the Apple TV to RGB Low instead of high, everything gets crushed, so RGB High must be the correct AppleTV setting.

Did I work that out right?

On my C8, I have Black Level set to Low and I use YCbCr and 4:2:0. with the ATV4k. No black crush on my C8 at all with any source material. Some C8's had issues with black crush that was supposedly taken care of with subsequent updates. I never experienced that at all on my C8.

The ATV is capable of both Atmos and DV. What app are you using? The rest of your config looks compatible.
