Hi,

Does anyone know if any of the newer realtek chips have a fixed 23.976Hz mode?

All the old players only had a pure 24.000Hz mode. This was all but useless (i've only seen 2 bluray movies with 24.000fps).

If you are unfamiliar with this issue it's sometimes called the "40 second bug" because every 41.6 seconds there would be a repeated frame.

I'd like to know if any chipsets, and any players do not suffer from this?

Thanks,

lmaolmao

p.s. I have a dune prime, and would like a budget unit for a second room, but if the realteks dont support 23.976 then i refuse to put any money their way.

The Sigma chipset does 23.976 and 24.000 as required -- works as expected on the Popcorn Hour models, though I don't know whether those qualify as budget.

If you're looking for a budget media player... the WDTV Lives have a Sigma 8655 and the WDTV Live Plus have a Sigma 8654 (Netflix version)... I think you can find them for around $100 or less...

Cheers!

I'm not certain about Realtek having fixed this in their SDK, but it was fixed in the Realtek based TViX players.
