There was an update you had to sign up for in order to fix audio dropouts with lossless audio. I had this issue whether I played a video in Plex or Kodi. The worse experience for me was when viewing "The Godfather". Once the fix was applied, everything was back to normal.

This one. It was specific to lossless audio over Ethernet.

Can't say I've experienced that. I watched my UHD rip of Jurassic Park a couple of days ago and never heard any audio issues. This wasn't my AVR with Atmos, so just the "normal" lossless audio. Can't remember if it's TrueHD or Master Audio.

Are you sure that your tv is doing auto frame switching? Often its hard to tell with internal apps. Plus when it comes to dynamic range your tv only has to do it for your tv. Shield has to make it work with all. Not defending them but this doesn't really compare.

Definitely depends on the Dislay. My Sony runs Android TV, and if I play a movie on Netflix (for example) using the native app on the TV, the display will change to "Cinema Home". With that said, this indicates that the movie is viewed in 24p. By the same token, if I playback movies on the Shield using Plex or Kodi/MrMC, the display will also change to Cinema Home as a result of 24p content.

My Shield is from 2015 and my Sony display is from 2017. So hardware limitations and lack of implementation of certain features (plus older hardware) with the Core OS could definitely be the culprit.

Interesting. My 2019 Sony LCD (X950G) does nothing different with frame rate (outside of playback differences).

It switches between SDR/HDR/DV picture modes but nothing different between frame rates.

I suspect all streaming content from Android TV is played back at 60fps and the TV processing is detecting 24p inside 60p as it has the ability to do so.

I still prefer sending the TV native frame rate from external sources as this detection is not perfect.

The 950G is the replacement of the 900F, which was the replacement for the 900E. Check to see if your display changes Display Modes when streaming from Netflix or Amazon.

On my display I have "24p (sync)" mode enable which switches the Display to Cinema Home for 24p content. For the Shield, Kodi/MrMC and Plex have the ability to change the refresh rate without any manual adjustments. All other apps such as Netflix and Amazon require some type of intervention, such as Manually Switching the refresh rate, or using the Refresh Rate App. My Oppo 203 changes Refresh Rate as well and my display performs the same switch to Cinema Home. Of course you can use the Netlix addon for Kodi, which will allow automatic adjustments through those apps.

For now I created a task with my Harmony Remote which changes the Display to Cinema Home for Apps such as Netflix and Amazon Prime on the Shield. I can't use the Refresh Rate app because I use the native Live Channels App on my Shield. The Refresh Rate app causes issues with the Guide Data and Channel bar, and I suspect this is due to going into the Developer Settings and making further adjustments in order for the Refresh Rate app to perform its tasks.

Anyone using the Sennheiser Ambeo soundbar with the Nvidia Shield TV? If so, are you happy with your experience or are you having issues as described in the Ambeo soundbar thread?

Thanks!

I cannot explain why. But the simple act of:
1. trying-and-failing
2. Turning it off and posting this
3. Reading your post and heading back up again
4. Turning it back on

..... Fixed it. When I went back up to try again, they were paired!

Unresponsive Remote

Over the past couple of weeks, I've found the remote to my Shield being unresponsive or dropping the connection.
Anyone else experiencing this? Its not a battery issue, and it seems to resolve itself after 30 seconds or a minute.
But its pretty annoying when you're trying to bounce between episodes or clips.

Nvidia Shield C9

I have had the shield for the last two years. It was the perfect Kodi box for me and performed great. But the recent updates have gone horribly wrong with hotfixes and so on. My real issue was loosing HDMI signal every so often, and when pausing a movie for longer than 5 mins Kodi would stall, I've tried many different solutions including factory reset a few times.
Finally i gave up I have a ODROID N2-4GB CoreELEC on my way which is hopefully a lot more stable and I hear good things about it

Ya it seems that way. It works most of the time but can be unreliable which is frustrating, Kodi is all I want as I have the AppleTv for other services. I hear good things about the N2 so I'm excited to try it out. Good to hear others are not having this problem, but I'm 100 percent sure it was the software update that bricked the device.

I picked up an N2 in the fall. It's been really solid, when the new Shield came out the N2 went to bedroom duty, so it doesn't get as much usage.

If you use it for music it doesn't have the limitations that the Shield (because of Android) has for Flac and PCM as far as bit perfect audio.

I’ve been having issues since I added a hot fix a few months back, stuff I didn’t have before. Laggy input. Will no longer stay paired with my Harmony Elite Hub. Freezes and locks up.

You don't even need the 4GB ODROID for CoreELEC, the 2GB version is more enough, which I have.

Yeah, the Shield just hasn't been stable for me for Kodi for a long time. Disappointing.

I wasn't sure which one to get, in hindsight 2gb sounds enough but anyway its on the way, I don't mind paying extra, stability is all i'm concerned about and I hear the picture processing is better and I'm a linux lover anyway. Android Tv has gone in the wrong direction IMO

I'll probably sell the shield cause I think its working fine, until you put kodi on it

I'll probably sell the shield cause I think its working fine, until you put kodi on it
Strange, I've never had those issues with Kodi, whether on my 2015 or 2019 Shield.

Anyone else experiencing this? Its not a battery issue, and it seems to resolve itself after 30 seconds or a minute.
But its pretty annoying when you're trying to bounce between episodes or clips.
I've also noticed this on my two Shields. Batteries OK in both and line of site from one is 8 feet and on the other 12 feet. Not disconnecting for me but definitely unresponsive.

Ok. Glad its not just me. Hopefully there will be an update/hotfix if there's enough people with the issue.

Finally i gave up I have a ODROID N2-4GB CoreELEC on my way which is hopefully a lot more stable and I hear good things about it

I can vouch that the N2 is fantastic, I've had mine for 2 months now and just sold my old Shield. BTW-get a 16 gig eMMc module with your N2, Coreelec loads faster than with a microsd card. I'm using a cheap 2.4 gig wifi remote controller with my 4 gig N2 and it works like a charm.

Thanks for the tip, I got the eMMc coming with it so nice to know I made the right decision. I plan on using ethernet, and a Bluetooth usb which I have to connect to my keyboard. I have the Harmony elite so will have to figure a way of setting that up but I'm sure there is good resource online to get me there so I'll cross that bridge when I get there. I think tomorrow hopefully.
Delighted your happy with the N2, gives me great confidence, I'm going to sell my shield too or give it to my brother in law, either way its gone
