The worst of it...trying to explain it to the support team they need to escalate the issue to the guys who enable Atmos outside US...been trying for them to escalate the issue for 4.5 hours already!
I gave up. Ended my suscription and I have downloaded the torrents with Atmos! Charge non Atmos to whomever wants to pay for it unnoticed!

By the way, dont bother to get Suspiria 2018...it sucks for 160 mins. Instead get the 1977 remastered version in Atmos...ten millions times better than the AMZN remake, really uses Atmos and only 99 mins..

Nice trying to be a jerk, I'm all for things working as they should, but when it's already just a handful of shows I don't see the draw of making sure season 1 of JR still hasn't changed.

I binged watched Season 2 of Jack Ryan over the weekend. Atmos/HDR10 was working with no issue.

I started watching the new series "Updload" last night. To be honest, I'm not sure if this series had Atmos or HDR, but the app's streaming status stated that it was in UHD.

Out of curiousity I checked "The Aeronauts", and season 2 of Jack Ryan (both UHD versions), and no HDR10 nor Atmos were available for these 2 titles.

I'm not going to deal with it anymore. I know my Shield is perfectly fine, and Amazon needs to simply get on the ball.

It is pretty crazy how they can't seem to figure it out. And on a side note Jack Ryan season 2 was fantastic!

Maybe your Shield isn't okay. Both of those are HDR10 and Atmos for me.

I tried last night. Not very useful on Shield because it does not support VP9.2. So it didn't add much other than true 4K rendering unlike the official app on Shield which renders into 1080p viewport then scales to 4K.
However, when installed to my other Android TV boxes, I did manage to get YouTube HDR working as those cheaper boxes do include SoC that supports VP 9.2.

I think the Prime app is still flaky. Unlike the other poster who lost UHD playback, I suddenly got Dolby Vision back on JR s1. I checked it every other day. Was on HDR10 and now DV.

Seriously, the new server they migrates us to need to identify each device's unique combination, e.g. Shield version + what kind of TV it is connected to (SDR, DV or HDR10) in order to correctly deliver the playable contents to that specific client. This is the part I suspect not working correctly yet. So, in my example, first I got no 4K at all. Then HDR10 (I have a DV and HDR10 capable TV connected to it). Then finally DV. I have no Atmos device connected here so no way to test it. But I bet that's the same case.

Still, compare to my Vizio TV Prime App, the TV APP shows DV or HDR next as well as audio formats next to the show's description. It also shows DV or HDR when you bring up the bar during playback. For that to be true, we wouldnt get JR Season 1 with Atmos and none of the other titles.
For me, its an Amazon issue and most probably related to geography location.

To minimize the variables I am using just the Oled TV and same results as with the Shields. So, no shield issue.

Agree. Aeronauts on LG built in app gives HDR and Atmos. Shield just gives HDR. This is checking back to back.

Shield 2017 no Atmos

Hi,
I am a new user here and have a question on shield connected to pioneer sc-95 receiver. I see TrueHD displayed on receiver for a mkv file with TrueHD Atmos when I play through plex on shield. Same file shows Atmos on receiver when I play from PC connected to receiver.
So looks like shield is only playing up to TrueHD through audio pass-through to the receiver and not Atmos.

Do anyone has inputs on what I am missing for getting Atmos on receiver and not just TrueHD? I already unplugged and and re-plugged shield and receiver but no changes for getting Atmos. Does HDMI cable plays a role for any role in getting up to TrueHD sound and not Atmos sound on receiver?

Are there multiple audio choices for the video you're attempting to play?

The fact that you're getting Dolby TrueHD means that there's no further adjustment needed for Plex.

If you installed Dolby Access app on PC, it will report everything as Atmos because it upscales it by default. If the TrueHD track is truely Atmos (which I think it is not the case), your receiver will automatically switch to Atmos when it receives TrueHD bitstreamed over. There is not much need to be done on the player side.

4K, HDR and Atmos could be regional related as well. For me in the Netherlands I haven’t found any title with Atmos as of yet.
I get 4K and HDR from some, but really a lot aren’t.
Some titles are not even published here like Cloak and Dagger.

No, Dolphin will not run on the 32bit tube. I used Xplore to install and you'll have to allow installation from 'unknown sources'. I have version 5.0-11836. After you install it should show up in your app section.

I am a new user here and have a question on shield connected to pioneer sc-95 receiver. I see TrueHD displayed on receiver for a mkv file with TrueHD Atmos when I play through plex on shield. Same file shows Atmos on receiver when I play from PC connected to receiver.
So looks like shield is only playing up to TrueHD through audio pass-through to the receiver and not Atmos.

Do anyone has inputs on what I am missing for getting Atmos on receiver and not just TrueHD? I already unplugged and and re-plugged shield and receiver but no changes for getting Atmos. Does HDMI cable plays a role for any role in getting up to TrueHD sound and not Atmos sound on receiver?

Are the audio settings correct in Plex? Are you actually playing the Atmos track from the title?
Both my 2017 and 2019 Shields have no problem playing lossless Atmos and DTS:X with Plex using my Onkyo receiver and also a Vizio speaker bar. Using both the native Plex app and plex inside Kodi.

Yes I am getting multiple audio choices like english (TrueHD 7.1), English (AC3 5.1) etc. for that mkv file but no Atmos choice is coming.
Yeah already getting TrueHD so no more settings changes may be needed in Plex or Shield settings, or receiver that I have selected ALC.
