Angry Gabre gibberish

I apologise if u got offended.

I am waiting to buy this box and would like to hear constructive critique and first hand experience, thats why im in this topic.
Offended? Wasn't the point of your comment about "Quit crying and complaining" meant to offend? I'm pretty sure that comment by itself by design going to offend someone. Was I suppose to take that as a complement? How could you be so ignorant of how this was going to be viewed as?

I wrote feedback on a product that people didn't have yet, had some back and forth with others on the possible reasons, some were valid and some were not, and at the end it was solved. You come along and just add nothing to the conversation and come to this thread just to offended me.

People want detailed posts and feedback and not the gibberish you just brought to this thread.

I bought 3 of these and an HD Homerun Extend.

Everything is going pretty well. Really impressed with the Mi Box considering its price point. Google Cast actually works really well with it too which can be a hit or miss on some Android TV devices.

Here are my questions:
1. Can this stream 4K from VUDU, Netflix, and Amazon?

2. Can this stream HDR from vudu , Netflix and Amazon?

3. Can this stream Dolby Vision titles from VUDU?

4. Can this stream Dolby Atmos from VUDU?

I dont know the answers to these questions due to me not having mine hooked up to a 4k tv right now. I think I read that 4k netflix works just fine already with an HDR update coming soon. I will say that once you jump in the Android TV ecosystem you have less need for dependencies on services like Amazon and Vudu.

Google play movies and tv just announced 4k support starting in November so that pretty much removes the need for Vudu imo. Hopefully someone can better answer the rest of your questions though.

If you are looking for more of a power user streaming platform I would instead look at the nvidia shield instead of the mi box.

Not so fast, VUDU is still needed as a UV client for some (my parents still buy BluRays and give me the UV codes off of them).

Personally I wish GPM would incorporate UV support but I guess that's never going to happen.

I'm having some issues with the Mi Box..

HBO Go - will play for 30 seconds or so then the video will freeze, audio will continue playing.

You Tube - issues with 720p/60 and 1080p/60 - video/audio will glitch every 10 seconds or so.

Anyone else seeing these issues?

The playstore listing always have support emails if you encounter any issues. You could try reaching out to them about your issues. HBO is not surprising but weird you would have issues with youtube. I honestly dont have problems with either apps but hbo has a pretty bad track record with streaming apps.

1. Yes 4K for Netlfix. Vudu isn't available in 4K in this box. Amazon is not available in MiBox all together. Amazon is at war with Google and Apple.

2. The box is "HDR capable" but no content is in HDR yet.

3. The box does not support Dolby Vision, just HDR10 and HLG.

4. The box does not support Dolby Atmos.

I've been reading about users having trouble with Netflix on this box.

Has anyone had issues with Netflix?

Yes. As a matter of fact I was having issues with Netflix on the Mi Box up until a couple days ago. I was going to post the same question here. I was getting "There is a problem playing this title at the moment". It would display after a minute or two into playing, no matter the title. I have excellent wifi signal strength. Not using the USB to Ethernet adapter (yet).

So I uninstalled the Netflix application, rebooted the Mi Box, reinstalled and rebooted once more. So far I've not had the issue anymore and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Hope this helps.

Update. After working flawlessly for 2 day and making this post the problem returned. Performed the same steps above but the issue remains. Not sure what the problem is but I suspect it's the version code running on the Mi Box.

Update 2. The issue is resolved. The issue was my own making. Contacted Mi support via chat who had me perform a factory reset which restores it back to out of the box state. Netflix worked fine but the display settings were the default on the Mi Box. I reconfigured the Display settings for 4K-60Hz, then under Preferences\Playback I had set HDMI self-adaption to ON. Netflix playback began misbehaving again, so once I set the HDMI self-adaption back to OFF the issue went away. That was a week ago and I've had no further problems watching Netflix. Doh!

I would say return/exchange the device.

Keep doing it until the problem is fixed. Maybe the sheer amount of returns/exchanges will make Xiaomi realize something is wrong and fix it.

Netflix already streams HDR content, so 2 is wrong, or are you saying this box cant stream Netflix HDR?

Yes, I am aware Netflix streams in HDR as I get it from my Philips UHD player, #2 is not wrong. I am saying that the box does not have any channels that stream in HDR yet. However, I grew frustrated and returned the box 2 days ago.

Not sure but I found out quickly the VUDU on Mi Box only supports SD. What a bummer.

Those of you that care about proper deinterlacing of live TV, just be aware Mi Box can't do it yet, at least w/MPEG2 1080i.

Will this be upgraded to atmos? And if I can play from my NAS on the network and how?

So, got mine yesterday.
Works fluidly, remote is snappy, all good.

But I have issue with Netflix, after few seconds into playing anything, it throws a "we are having trouble playing this file right now, etc" and it does this on everysingle file.
Restarting the box didnt help, clearing cache and data in netflix app didnt help, switching users didnt help...
What to do?

I believe Atmos already works on Shield, but I can't speak to that for certain, as I don't have an Atmos setup.

Check that HDMI self-adaption is OFF under preferences\playback on the Mi Box. I was having the same issue because I had turned it ON. The default it OFF. Since setting this back to OFF I've had no further issues with Netflix. Hope this helps.
