I dont want him in my google or my emails.

I ask this because on the Amazon devices you must deregister it from under your name if you transfer ownership otherwise they have account access in your name.

what do I do about this google MiBox or is it tied to me like an amazon fire stick?
Just go into settings and factory reset. He wont be able to get into anything and it will look like a new mi box.

The mi box will still be on your Google account but it won't cause any harm and you can remove it from there as well whenever you feel like it.

I returned mine, it has the same video issue that the FireTv has, the issue is due the video player (exoplayer? and maybe the codecs used). Some others with Nvidia Shield seem to see the same issue. Appears to drop frames or something, specially on panning video and also fast action. Watch same video on RasbPi2 with KODI and it looks great.

I would like an "all in one" box, but for now will continue using RasbPi for local video and Roku for Netflix, Amazon, etc for now. Hopefully they will resolve issues in the future.

Saying it supports "HD audio passthrough" isn't answering the question. My Nexus Player supports HD audio passthrough as it decodes DTS-HD/TrueHD to PCM.

If your player is decoding DTS-HD/TrueHD to PCM then it isn't passthrough...passthrough means the player passes bitstream to your receiver which then does the decoding.

Ok I'll buy that, however, there have been quite a few boxes in the past few years it seems which advertise HD audio passthrough which lack the support for DTS-HD/TrueHD (licensing perhaps). I've personally been on a quest for a cheap box that'll support DTS-HD/TrueHD and have only felt confident that the Shield will do such a thing. I've been reluctant to buy a Shield though because my 8 year old HTPC running Windows 10 and Kodi does the job just fine (it just has the typical "HTPC" limitations). Plus having an HTPC to play games in the living room is far superior to a Shield. I'd rather spend the $200 on upgrading my HTPC. With that said, I would love to find a Android box that supports DTS-HD/TrueHD especially now that Kodi v17 is out.

I've been looking at the MiniX Neo U1 because it has an ethernet port (another must) but again I'm not confident it supports DTS-HD/TrueHD. Also, it seems a bit pricey.

Lastly, I see that the Shield supports Amazon's streaming app for prime members. Is this a feature app exclusively for the Shield or is it a part of the latest Android release? Should we be seeing this on future Android TV boxes?

Amazon content is exclusive to the Shield and no other Android device has it. Do you care about Netflix 4k or even HD? If so, only the Shield and Mi Box have it. These two boxes are AndroidTV, which is not the same as plain old Android. There is basically no cheap Android box that is worth it if you want to run Android. If you are just looking for something cheap, can do HD audio, and only care about Kodi, the Odroid C2 might fit the bill. If you want to have Netflix and other apps and stay low cost, the Mi Box would be your best bet. If you want the best experience possible with the most apps and best hardware, you already know the Shield is the way to go.

Tronsmart Telos Android box supports bitstreaming dts hd ma and true hd. I HAD IT.
It does come with a custom version of kodi that allows for bitstreaming.

But keep in mind this is regular android interface, not android tv. (Which is not actually bad, as it gives u more flexibility with other options like torrents, browsing, skype, facebook, etc)

Ok cool thanks mecmec. I'm thinking a USB 2.0 adapter for around $10 should suffice. I see under the specs the ports are only USB 2.0. That'll at least give me the 100 Mbit/s that I need. I've tried using AC wifi with my Nexus Player and some BD movies have such a high bitrate I would notice stuttering every so often, especially if others are utilizing wifi for any reason. I figure why not use ethernet when the house has Cat 6.

I just got the Mi Box and I'm having a problem with VUDU. Certain movies in HDX will play fine for about 15-18 seconds, and then the picture will freeze but the sound will keep going. For instance, Batman Vs. Superman will play fine, but Sicario will freeze. I've tried various things like clearing the cache, reinstalling VUDU, even doing a factory reset. This is the only app that is giving me problems, but it's a pretty big problem for me. I'm just wondering if it's a known issue that can be fixed with an update?

I can verify that these two work on the Mi Box:

This one uses a ASIX AX88179 chipset and is $16.99:

https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-1000Mb...etwork+adapter

This one uses the ASIX AX88772 chipset and is $12.99 (My son stole it for his Nintendo Switch):

https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Ethern...etwork+adapter

I purchased the 10/100 device first since the Mi Box has only a USB 2.0 port, but my son "stole" it and so I purchased the 10/100/1000 version. Note that the ASIX chipsets are the only kind of ethernet adapter that I know is supported by the Mi Box.

Hello,

Does the ASIX AX88179 really works with the Xiaomi Mi Box? No need to do additional settings?

Thanks

It's working right now on my Mi Box. Just plug it in and it works. No settings unless you want to manually set your IP address. It defaults to DHCP.

The problem I've had with USB Ethernet dongles is that they don't come out of standby reliably and I have to unplug and replug them

Finally bought a 4K tv that supports HDR and Dolbyvision. I enabled HDR on my Mi Box and tried Netlfix. HDR does not engage. Am I missing something? Anybody? Bueller?
