I know OS updates are pushed, but I'm not sure about apps. When I got 9.2.0 I remember seeing the LED flash on its own. When I got the previous app updates, I had to "request" them. I'm still waiting for 9.3.0.

Apps can get "pushed". I've added a channel from the web site, and going to the Roku 5 minutes later it's already installed. I can't say if that can happen with updates, or only new channel installs. And of course a manual check will always load any available updates.

Just thought I would give this post a try here. I have all my srreamers and uhd Blu-Ray players going through capable 5 port hdmi switch Into my Samsung 90r soundbar. Connected to my lgg7p OLED tv. Prior a n950. Everything has worked very ,until recently. All still works well (atv4k,
amazon cube2, and my 2 uhd Blu-ray players all except my roku ultra 2019. The roku will start out ok but when I switch to a different program or streaming service it looses sound no matter what switch I try. I have done everything complete resets, restarting, unplugging etc. always loosEs sound sometimes the sound comes through even Dolby Atmos but soon as I stop it or switch no sound. If I connect the ultra directly into tv it works fine. I prefer to use switch but so far no luck. This was not always the case it uSed to work fine. Even changed cables. Any suggestions. Replace the switch. You can get a Sewell 5x1, 18Gbps HDMi switch for under $30 now.

I use three cascaded 5x1 Sewell switches with my Vizio Bar setup. Because the speaker bar only has one HDMI input. They have been working well for the last couple of years. Although I did get extended warranties on them, just in case. It was only a few dollars. But that was back when the 18Gbps 5x1 switches cost over $70.

I have replaced the switch thre time’s in the last week all capable of 4k60hz 18gps even a higher end metra from crutchfield. Everything works but the roku ultra audio. I am starting to think it might be some new incompatibility With the q90r And roku but definitely a recent development

Your Roku model is 4660 or 4670 on 9.3 Roku OS? Did Roku OS 9.2 support your setup just fine. Roku has been having issues with OS 9.3 but seems no one has the update for the Roku model 4670 yet? Since it's a recent development, model and OS are key.

Mine is Roku model 4660 on Roku OS 9.3

I am using an HDMI switch also on an older Samsung JS9500 with no issue. The HDMI switch solved a number of issues for my setup; my Roku Ultra wasn't playing well with other devices until I got the HDMI in place. But also, my Roku was replaced a couple of times for multiple issues when connected directly to TV. One slight difference with my switch though, my AVR lacks HDCP support so my HDMI switch is also an audio extraction type switch with HDMI out- audio only going to AVR. I don't use my Roku much but haven't had audio drops when using it.

If you're under warranty, you should contact Roku support. One thought though, are you limited to one input on the sound bar? If you bypass the switch without going directly to TV, you likely thought of trying that already. It's another data point to tell Roku support it's not just failing to support the switch but also the sound bar. Failing either is unacceptable.

RokuOS 9.3.0-4170 Available for manual update

RokuOS 9.3.0-4170 is now available for manual update for all devices (2710, 3800, 3810 (2017 & 2019), 3910, etc).

Test and verify.

This may be related to the expired certificate:

I had the same experience with my 2017 SS+ (3810) - though the only actually updated app was YT - from 1.0.91000114 to 1.0.91000128 (only the 4K/HDR devices updated to this version along with 9.3.0-4170).

2 of my devices rebooted twice during the update process.

The reported app loading failure issue with 9.3 is still present - the NASA UHD (4KHDR) app crashes back to Home upon attempted loading (still working normally on 9.2).

The UI dialog boxes are inconsistent - some are generic, some are wallpaper derived, some are theme derived.

None of my devices indicates Dolby TrueHD support - either via auto-detection or manual selection.

The mic privacy app settings seem to have no effect (prompt, always, never) no matter what its set to - there is never any prompt or blocking etc. This was also the case with 9.2 (and prior) - and they still also need a more general/global setting to disable the mic access entirely, not just from apps. The mic privacy settings seem to serve no functional purpose - and never have.

HDCP errors seem to occur with the same occasional frequency as they ever have, with the same solution(s).

Has all the hallmarks of a classic RokuOS release - clearly still a work-in-progress - which is why I left my most-used device on 9.2 for now.

HBO Max is not yet available on Roku or Fire TV. It's not a technical issue, but rather a financial one.

Assuming you directly updated from 9.2.0-4807, you can always revert: Home (5x), FF (3x), RW (2x), then "Update Software" - and if you did it as a manual/optional update recently, it will hold until Roku release 9.3 for automatic updates.

Is it possible that the Roku is simply mistagging the content? It seems very odd that the content would suddenly be switched to 24.0 fps assets from 23.9 fps assets. And if I've read all the posts correctly, this is happening with all the streaming services? Minus Netflix of course. And you folks aren't seeing any frame drops or skipping anomalies?

I use three cascaded 5x1 Sewell switches with my Vizio Bar setup. Because the speaker bar only has one HDMI input. They have been working well for the last couple of years. Although I did get extended warranties on them, just in case. It was only a few dollars. But that was back when the 18Gbps 5x1 switches cost over $70.
The new update fixed the issue but need a new 5x 1 switch so I did order the Sewell today

@Keenan , I'm getting the framerate as it's passing through my Oppo 203 (via extended info), and when I switch to the Shield, I do get 24.00 for appropriate Netflix content, as well as 23.976 for other content within Netflix, as well as movies on D+ and Prime.

I haven't watched for skipping on the Roku, but I'm going to try and update again and see what happens

Yeah, I use my Oppo 203 for testing for that info as well. So it's not all content then, just some titles? I'm very aware that Netflix has a load of 24.0 content, much of their new original content is 24.0 and it doesn't play properly on anything but the Shield, up until now it seems given this new Roku info. It still seems odd that a title like Bosch which has always been 23.9 is now 24.0. I'm going to try and spend some time with my Ultra tonight and see if there's frame dropping or skipping.

@Keenan , everything I tested on the Roku that is supposed to be 23.976 is showing 24.00; I haven't tested Bosch, but I did try some movies and JR S1E2

Update ( @Keenan ): I updated to 9.3.0:4170, and still 24.00Hz for all 23.976Hz content (including Bosch, this time). I still haven't watched for dropped/skipped frames, but I think I'll just turn off framerate matching and hope (and pray) the native framrate conversion to 60p is being done correctly internally
