Not sure if there is a way. I would try to reset it and see if it updates. I think it was android police that I saw the story on.

Thanks - how do you 'reset'? Reboot? (Cycle power to the Ultra?)

Could mean a factory reset which is done through the device settings within the Google Home app

Yes. That is what I was trying to say. Thanks for clarifying.

Anyone get the update and notice anything improved?

Chromecast support got back to me, I've made them aware of this thread as they wanted to see other people experiencing it too, I guess it hasn't been that widely reported/realised

Plugged mine in last night and the first thing it did was update. Can't tell you to what level from what level.

Looks good to me.

Question though, is it worth using a wired connection on this? WiFi seems to work out OK, but a 1Gbps wired connection is always going to be faster.

Sony XBR-85X900F, Oppo 203 UHD, Denon X6300H, Emotiva UPA5 (triggered), Wharfedale Pacific Evo 40s, CS, 10s, PC DX12 sub, Def Tech A60 Atmos tops, the internet and a Nvidia Shield. There's also a Wii, but we don't talk about that...

Has anyone been able to get the Chromecast Ultra to work through any of the following Marantz receivers? I have seen that it works when directly attached to my LG OLED65G6P. It does NOT operate through my Marantz SR-6011.

I am guessing the Marantz video processing software and hardware is almost identical in these three models: SR-5011, SR-6011, SR-7011.

I am also going to guess it is quite similar to these three models from last year: SR-5010, SR-6010 and SR-7010.

Has anyone gotten the Chromecast Ultra to work with any of these receivers, ideally to an LG TV?

Thanks!

I posted a YouTube HDR video that shows the difference between HDR (1000+ nits) and SDR (100 nits):

You obviously need a 4K HDR TV and a Chromecast Ultra to see it properly. Watching it on a normal SDR screen will just lead to confusion

Netflix HDR looks like the SDR in the comparison video and SDR looks like HDR. Youtube HDR has that difference.

I am sorry but I don't know exactly what you are saying. You need a Chromecast Ultra and a 4K HDR TV to view this video in HDR. It does not look right on normal SDR screens.

I promise you that if you view this video with the right hardware the HDR will obviously look much better than the SDR.

After a lot of research, hardware, time, and money, I present to you the first 4K 60fps HDR game capture available anywhere online.

Again, you need a 4K HDR TV and a Chromecast Ultra to see it properly.

I"m talking about Netflix HDR. Here's a post from someone else in the forum about it- "Over the summer, Stacy Spears said on avs that netflix has incorrect hdr metadata, he contacted netflix about the issue. So what you were seeing was something completely incorrect" I do have a Chromecast Ultra and the video you posted is plenty bright on youtube.

Did this device get the update for Dolby Vision? There was a tweet that suggested it had.

Any other fixes like the red push in SDR content?

I think it's using the wrong color space...I manually set it to SDR colors and it fixes the red push.

I have an open case with Google about the red push issue, would you mind adding your experience to it? Hopefully it will help them to identify it:

In my opinion HDR in gaming has great potential, probably even more so than in real life videos.

I posted a comparison of SDR vs HDR for the Last of Us game:

Google have advised that firmware 1.22.77272 is now available, might need to reboot your Chromecast to get it.

Will be checking to see if it fixes the red saturation/push issue later tonight when I get home.

Nor me I'm afraid, Google have been pretty good with the support though. Check out this thread:

Looks like it's coming, just have to keep chasing them for a firmware update.
