My methods so far:

1. Roku Premiere + - very inconsistent and poor resolution

2. Casting to Vizio P65 with built in chromecast - app is broken, won't cast

3. Screen mirror from phone - poor resolution, very choppy

4. Amazon fire stick(1st gen) - poor resolution

I chatted with DTVN last night and they are looking into it from their end and credited $10 towards my next bill. I so badly want this to work out because of the channel selection.

It's odd that you have resolution issues with every device. Even with streaming in 720p, your P65 should be upscaling the stream. You may want to increase the P65 sharpness setting to give you a crisper PQ. The only way I can use the DTVN app is by casting from my phone or tablet to my Shield. The PQ on my M65 is very good. If your Android app is broken for casting, you should delete it from your device and download it again.

Good call with the uninstall/reinstall. I did that with both the Roku app and android app. Both are working and stable at this point. Crossing my fingers.

Thanks!

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- In the coming weeks, we will begin to roll out CBS Television Network's popular entertainment, sports and CBS News programming as well as SHOWTIME, The CW, CBS Sports Network and Pop on DIRECTV NOW. This will also include video-on-demand catalogs from CBS, The CW, Pop and Showtime®.

"This is another key milestone in bringing DIRECTV NOW users access to their favorite entertainment, news and sports from all of the major broadcast networks," said Daniel York, senior executive vice president and chief content officer – AT&T Entertainment Group. "As we add more live national and local channels, we know even more people will choose DIRECTV NOW as their go-to streaming service."

Entertainment from CBS and The CW will be available on all DIRECTV NOW packages. Pop will be included starting on "Just Right" and CBS Sports Network starting on "Go Big." DIRECTV NOW subscribers can choose to add Showtime® for only $8 more a month, the lowest monthly rate from any streaming provider, and access it either through the DIRECTV NOW app, Showtime Anytime app or online at ShowtimeAnytime.com.

As part of the agreement with CBS, DIRECTV NOW customers will also have access to live local coverage on nearly 25 live local CBS and The CW stations. Initially, local CBS stations will be available in:

New York
Los Angeles
Chicago
Philadelphia
Dallas – Ft. Worth
San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose
Boston
Detroit
Minneapolis-St. Paul
Miami-Ft. Lauderdale
Denver
Sacramento-Stockton-Modesto, CA
Pittsburgh
Baltimore

In the coming weeks we also plan to launch at least 30 additional ABC, FOX and NBC affiliates on DIRECTV NOW. This will bring the total to over 170 live local channels available across more than 80 metro areas.

Something strange:

I get my local Fox channel. But, the Bills/Eagles game is blacked out on dtn yet not on the very same channel OTA.

" NFL Preseason Football is blacked out in your area on Fox York. For more info, search for Error 70 in the Help Center. "

Error 70 says,

" Many blackout scenarios are sports or game related, but regular programming and events are also subject to blackout. If programming is blacked out in your area due to market restriction, you may be able to watch on another channel or on a local broadcast channel, if available in your area. "

Soooooooo,

dtn has more restrictive blackouts than OTA ! What ?

Next time this happens to you, try the Fox Sports app. Every so often during hockey season, I would get the same message on DTN and when I was forced to (somewhat inconveniently) use the Fox Sports app, I was able to view the game.

One theory, preseason NFL Network may have streaming rights to the game.

they said they would triple the number of local channels available across the Country. This was said to be a rollout week to week.

Anyone get any of these yet ?

And now for something completely different....

" AT&T's latest tablet is basically a vehicle for DirecTV Now

Engadget
Jon Fingas
EngadgetAugust 21, 2017

AT&T would really, really like you to try DirecTV Now. So much so, in fact, that it's releasing a tablet where its streaming video services are the centerpiece. The Primetime is a mostly unremarkable 10-inch LTE slate in terms of hardware (more on that later), but it includes a TV Mode with quick access to favorite video apps from your home or lock screen -- naturally, AT&T hopes this means the preloaded DirecTV and DirecTV Now apps. You can use it to jump to the likes of Netflix or YouTube, of course, but the feature is clearly meant for the live TV crowd.

There are a pair of helpful hardware perks to support your video viewing, including dual Bluetooth audio streams (good for kids in the back seat on a road trip, AT&T says) and twin front-facing speakers with Dolby audio. After that, though, this is very much a run-of-the-mill tablet: you're looking at a full HD screen, a 2GHz Snapdragon 625 processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage.

The price is right, though. When the Primetime arrives on August 25th, you're looking at $200 outright ($10 per month over 20 months) or $30 on a two-year contract. If you just want a tablet for keeping up with TV while you're on vacation, you probably don't need to spend more. "

I'm no longer as gung ho on the Roku app as I was before. Spectrum took over for TWC as my ISP and the service has many more interruptions. Very brief hiccups recover properly on Apple TV 4 and ChromeCast while I often have to exit to home and restart the app on Roku 3. Anyone else having problems on Roku?

I will say the picture quality is noticeably better across the board since they upgraded to 60fps.

You probably have Roku software update 7.7 at this point, notice anything unusual besides DTV app problems. Check when your Roku got it's last software update, is it around the time you started having trouble.

There is a very big thread about 7.7 problems over on the Roku forums.

Is anyone able to log into the Espn app on the Apple TV using DirectTV Now as their provider? I was wanting to watch a game on ESPN3 last night. I was able to select DTV Now as my provider on both Roku and iOS, but wasn't given it as an option on Apple TV. Wound up having to AirPlay from my iPad to the Apple TV. Is DTV Now not an option for the Espn app on Apple TV, or am I doing something wrong?

I thought CW was only for markets where CBS owns the affiliate showing the CW, otherwise the CW app is free and has a lot of programming.

The best comment I could find for CBS n CW VOD:
https://techcrunch.com/2017/08/07/di...s-network-pop/

" The CBS stations will go live when the station is ready for streaming, AT&T told TechCrunch via email. On-demand content for both CBS and The CW will follow, and will be available in the months ahead to nationwide DirecTV Now subscribers. "

That does sound like this will take more time than I hoped !

Turns out that my local CBS n CW are owned by the Sinclair Broadcast Group.... so I'm likely screwed for a long long time for live tv.

Not necessarily, the local ABC is Sinclair-owned and was one of the first St. Louis locals DTVN offered.

Does any one use the CBS all access app to stream football games? Just weighting out my options if I go with Directv Now until they get CBS, Fox, and ABC live. Either that or opt for an antenna for local channels but I'd rather not have to get one for every TV I would watch a game on.

Also has the DVR cloud been implemented yet? I can't seem to find any info on the website. This is a must.

I've used DTVN since it started last year. I still only have the ABC channel in my market, but a few large markets have ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox. The cloud DVR is still in beta testing and has not yet been released to DTVN users, but will be coming soon according to AT&T. I added an indoor amplified OTA antenna in a second floor bedroom window and connected it to the existing coax in my home, which is connected to a HDHomeRun Connect. This is an ethernet device which has 2 ATSC tuners and supports 2 simultaneous internet streams. They also offer a device which supports up to 4 simultaneous streams, but it costs a lot more and was not really necessary for my setup. I downloaded the HDHR app on a Nvidia Shield, Windows 10 PC, and Android phone. I also purchased the "Channels app" for my Apple TV 4, which is supported for the HDHR device. It's very convenient for OTA channels and works great for my needs.
