I had an issue with my old amazon fire tv when trying to use the criterion channel app. I believe it was 2nd generation. The issue was with DRM and HDCP that the old firetv was not compliant. It was annoying and I wondered when the day would come where I would have to upgrade. Well, this weekend was the time and I went with the firetv cube. Everything worked as expected so I'm a happy camper. What was cool was that I could tell alexa to turn on/off the tv, set a timer to watch GOT at 8:00. So pretty neat from my perspective. I'm a bit behind the times on technology so every little bell/whistle goes a long way. I'm still running things through my rotel rsp-985 pre that I got in 1998

Cool. If they support offline viewing, that may push me over the line.

We should get this thread re-labeled . How about Criterion Channel (Formerly Filmstruck) ?

If the criterion channel was as good a FilmStruck maybe. So far it is a mess
To find movies and no 5.1 sound. Nothing is sorted. Really not ready for release. Hope they get things sorted.

I concur. Between filmstruck and the criterion channel, I tried mubi. It has a rotating selection of 30+ movies and has some interesting stuff on it. Worth the free trial and I've kept it up to now.

Thanks for the feedback. Will hold off on the trial until they work some of this out.

Quick read discussing some positives and negatives.

Please share your experience, I am very interested. Thanks.
