A good point was made earlier about the pendant's Ethernet cable option. I may miss that.

The FireTv 4K stick has the same Ethernet Adapter option that plugs into the USB port. The same adapter that is used with the pendant is used with the new FireTV 4K stick.

But anyone with a properly setup wifi network will see identical or better results over wifi than the wired connection. Assuming it works like the pendant.

I decided to plug my Fire TV 4k into my Oppo UDP-205's HDMI in, instead of right into my Samsung KS8000. I figured I would try and "force" feed my old Krell HTS 7.1 a DD+ signal this way, as I use the analog outs of the Oppo. Sure enough, it works. What's even more surprising is the picture is better than plugging directly into the TV. Strange but I'll take it. Only issue is input lag at times. I have to switch the input of the Oppo and then change it back to HDMI In for a fix.

Woohoo!! I didn't realize a new season started this weekend.

I just checked from six UHD sources and none had Atmos audio from season 3.

I guess I'll ostly watch from my x800 then. With one episode each from my other devices. I was hoping it would have been in DV, then I would have watched from my ATV 4K or TCL TV.

Ok thanks for checking. My fire tv pendant is acting up with with Dolby Atmos with Jack Ryan or it’s my sound bar? I get the atmos option on my menu but it won’t engage. Could be a connection? Or the stupid EZCOO splitter I bought from amazon? Either way I’ve tried connecting straight to soundbar and also to my oppo 203 input and nothing?

Thanks for the update.

I'll probably/eventually get the new amazon 4K FTV Stick which is supposed to support HDR10, HLG, and DV as well as Atmos. However, if Roku has something equivalent or better, then it will get my serious consideration.

Netflix no ultra-HD option while using BT headphones and 3rd gen Fire TV 4K.

Need help to debug of issue with Netflix.

As soon as I connect BT headphones (MDRXB950BT/B) to Fire TV 4k, Netflix does not give me an option for Ultra-HD playback.

The moment I disconnect the BT headphones the ultra HD playback again appears.

I used hidden developer options and verified that the streams are indeed HD and ultra hd resolutions.

This is only happening on 3rd gen Fire TV 4K.

This does not happen on Fire TV 2nd generation box. The same BT headphones if connected does not remove the option of ultra hd for Netflix.

The Netflix versions are identical on both the boxes i.e 5.4.2

The 3rd Gen Fire TV 4K has the latest update of OS.

This definitely is an issue with 3rd Gen Fire TV 4K device.

I tired all options on audio settings on the 3rd Gen Fire TV 4K device and it has not changed the behavior of Netflix.

Talked to Amazon and they told me that this is third party app issue of Netflix and they cannot do anything.

Talked to Netflix and they tried to debug for atleat half hour and senior Engineer told me that on this chip Amlogic S905Z there are tunneling issues and the behavior cannot be fixed. They suggested that if I want to use BT headset and watch ultra hd netflix stream get a diff. box.

Any help is appreciated.

I hadn't used my FTV pendant for a while and decided to hook it back up today in anticipation of trying the new Stick due out at the end of the month. My question is about the match framerate function that was added to the FTV firmware just recently. The question is, does it actually work? I tried it on The Romanoffs and it looks as if it's skipping a frame every so often, in other words, it doesn't work. Playback utilizing 60 Hz playback works fine. This is with a Pendant and a Sony A9F connected through a Denon X4500.

The match framerate can work well, but in my experience it can depend on the setup. I was using a SOny UHD TV with an Onkyo receiver. With my FireTV 4K Pendant going through an HDMI switch as well as a ROku. I have several other UHD devices that work great with match framerate also going through HDMi switches. But my ROku Streaming Stick+ and the FireTV Pendant would have stability issues with match framerate on. Then I put a TCL 6 Series in the same location. And now the match Framerate switching has been solid with the FireTV Pendant and my Roku.

So, it sounds like it's hit or miss, I was hoping for better than that.

For me the problem was with lip sync connected directly to a Denon X7200WA. So switched off and went back to 60Hz and couldn't tell much of a difference with motion, which was fine, though the lip sync error went.

Sounds like you already have the answer? It's a hardware limited of that chip. Not sure what else there is to add from what the Senior Engineer found.

So the TV may also be equipped with Bluetooth output if you're talking about it rendering HDR (I only suggest that because your TV would be fairly new)? Can you connect your BT headset to TV instead?

I prefer the TV for mine because I can use all the inputs without having to reconnect sources when switching. Same for my optically connected wireless headphone set; base is connected to TV optical output.

The TV likely doesn't limit the input to SDR for Bluetooth audio but sure is a bummer the FTV3 can't handle both (UHD and Bluetooth) simultaneously.

unfortunately LG 49UB8500 does not have native audio BT. I plan to use BT transmitter connected to audio out from TV, to get over this issue.

Hi, I have noticed that the Netflix app on my FTV 4k appears to send 2ch audio as 5.1DD+ (with only 2 channels active) rather than as actual 2ch stereo. Unfortunately that is preventing the upmixer on the AVR to work properly for that content.
The problem doesn’t seem to exist on other FTV apps (like youtube with firefox) or with the same Netflix content on other players (like Apple Tv).
Is that a known issue? Any fix or workaround?

Well Murphy's Law finally hit. Started getting audio cutouts again. Had enough of this crap. I called amazon and told them I wanted to return my FTV pendant and get a credit even though it was out of the return period. The CSR got permission and I will return it this week. I went back to using my FTV Stick (gen 1) which sounds better and never cuts out. Perhaps someday I'll get the new FTV 4K Stick but I'll wait until it's well vetted by others. Or maybe a Roku.

my roku+ stick is still playing flawless.. the only downside to the app is it lags some compared to the firestick when going through the different interfaces.. not bad , but it does lag in comparison.. if you have thousands of artists like i do it makes it a challenge...

I'm with you. Looking through notes on the newest Firestick 4k, I'm thinking it is the dongle/pendant. My soundbar, essentially the same as yours, works fine with ATMOS blu rays on my PS4. I've put in a ticket with Amazon support and am waiting for feedback. I heard 1 episode of Jack Ryan with ATMOS. The rest showed Atmos in the option but no blue light or LED indicator. Very aggravating since it was my sole reason for purchasing it as my fourth FireTV or Stick.

3 questions please . . .

1) Is this the best thread for all things related to the Fire TV Cube?
2) Also, is there a thread somewhere for the Fired HD 10 ?
3) And is this: Official 2018 (new) FireTV Stick 4K--Dolby Vision, HDR10+, Dolby Atmos . . thread just 'Stick' related?

We purchased one a few weeks before Xmas; haven't un-boxed it yet, but hoping to tomorrow/Saturday. Thanks for any help & advice.

Yes, this is the thread for the Cube. It uses the previous generation hardware, same as the 4K Pendant.

The 4K Stick is all new hardware, so right now that thread is Stick only.

Thanks very much, rdgrimes, really appreciate your reply. I guess the BestBuy sales gal left that part out. So the new Stick supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+, Dolby Atmos — whereas the Cube doesn't, huh?

Thanks aaronwt.
So except for no DV & HDR10+ & DA, does the FTV Cube do/support everything else that the FTV 4K Stick does, but with the addition of having voice & Alexa control?

. . .in fact, now we're trying to remember why we bought the FTV Cube, and besides Alexa & price [was $70], what the main differences are between the FTV Cube . . vs . . a Google Assistant [was $99.] w/ Chromecast Ultra 4K [was $60] ??
