ATMOS Streaming options

I need to replace my roku with a media streamer that supports ATMOS. What are the options? I understand the following will work.

NVIDIA Shield TV
Azulle Inspire
???

This is partially dependent on what sources you intend to stream from. For example, Nvidia Shield TV supports streaming ATMOS from Vudu but not Netflix. I think only LG OLED TVs and Xbox One/One S/One X supports ATMOS via Netflix.

If you need a streamer for playing ATMOS movies on your network through Plex/Kodi, NSTV definitely will get the job done.

Guess Netflix's own website should list it as one of the supporting devices. Btw, in case people don't know. Punisher on Netflix is also available in Atmos.

Good to know but dont care for the gratuitous violence in Punisher. Hoping they will start supporting Atmos on other more palatable series.

Anyone know if Netflix Atmos is supported on Chromecast Ultra?

Indeed. Many earlier Atmos/DTS:X tracks are on standard Blu-Ray discs. That said, I'm now seeing Atmos tracks becoming more of a UHD disc exclusive.

I think there is still a way out of that. Just buy a uhd player. It'll u give you the atmos sound but obviously not the picture. My bone is with the streaming services. Those dumb people want you to have 4k in order to stream atmos

Oh, I see. Still going to be massively compressed audio versus the physical discs, though. I personally don't bother with streaming when I want the best experience so I haven't even really thought of Atmos via streaming. Didn't realize that was much of a thing. Then again, I haven't even been ABLE to stream 4K video with our pokey rural internet, so there's that. Haha.

Actually on the contrary, there seem to be plenty of sales on them these days. Was at BB the other day and saw plenty of UHD discs for $7-15. Just as when VHS, DVD, BD were all first released they were super pricey, but they came down over time. Seems that 4K UHD dropped faster than anything I've seen before. Probably due to lack of sales with streaming competitors.

ATMOS Streaming options

Can someone look up OKJA in Netflix and see if the ATMOS badge next to the title is missing for them as well. Definitely saw it a few days ago.

Edit: figured it out. Didn't know that the TV had the wrong audio output set. Didn't know that the badges are dynamic and change depending on the output device. Got the ATMOS badge back.

I think ATMOS is dependent on the streaming device. If the app in the device supports ATMOS, then it will appear. The older apps may not support ATMOS so that's why it does not work... Some devices do not have the ability to update the app and will never work with ATMOS, e.g. my older OPPO BDP-95 player. My Sony BR players updates the apps whenever an update is released, but the player does not recognize ATMOS so it does not work.. It might work if i stream the signal directly to the AVR, but it's moot right now since i do not have a ATMOS setup.

But I could be wrong.

If it's not a BIG screen, it's not a theater...

I thought Atmos was only available in Netflix on the Xbox One, S, X and certain LG OLED TVs? https://help.netflix.com/en/node/64066

Has this changed?

Bump ... I am curious about this too, as I have a Samy 8500 as mentioned in this thread and I get no Atmos from any titles, but I do from a plain old Xbox One (though no 4k or HDR) hooked up to the same receiver.

From the link I posted earlier it looks like the only player added is the Windows 10 Netflix app:
Windows 10 app (requires Windows 10 RS3 Build 16299 or later)

Thanks, checked that out, no 4K/HDR without a 7th gen Intel processor, so no better than the plain old Xbox One I've got hooked up already ... I am familiar with that page, but I've heard whispers of it working on other platforms, and was hoping of all the places in the world, if there is someone with some knowledge of when it is coming to more platforms, they can hopefully be found on AVS.
