P.S. with 12bit 4:2:2 output MHV UHD play fine. Problem is with 10 bits.
I use 10 bit 4.4.4 without problems, which prevents the TV to resync since it's its EDID native mode for UHD.
Maybe were you using 10 bit 4.2.2? Or 4.2.0? Or Auto?

Yes I was using 10 bit 4:2:2. I'll give it a try in a minute...

File is TheMeg4K
10 bit 4:4:4 = Radiance reports 23.999Hz (with other settings in 10bits, 4:2:0, 4:2:2, the value is the same)
12 bit 4:2:2 = Radiance reports 23.974Hz

As I know, in the next release we can expect first version of BD4K Menu support. Desired and requested for a long time. Dune informed that they are closing final tests before public release. But it is not sure if they will release as alfa or beta or...
I also tested small patch for Netflix, that enables multichannel audio at Pro4k/Max4K and Ultra4K models. Worked well for me, so I home Dune will release it also quite soon.
I have no more news for now.
Thanks to the new API, we can expect new integration with smarthome systems soon. Maybe it is a value for some of you.

@kadqs does the Alpha firmware only implements the control functions, or does it correct some bugs (such as incorrect 23.976 output) or add missing features (such as subs sync)?

Release notes are published with the alfa versions. Open the link and read. There are more fixes not related to API and the APP.
I do not know if Dune is working on 23.976 fix.

Oops, missed that, I did not scroll down enough and only saw the APK release notes. Thanks.
It doesn't seem that the crucial things that are missing compared to the Solo have been added, it's a real shame to see Dune wasting time on new features before fixing the most basic ones.

Blu-Ray .iso playback

Hi again,

I bought the Dune HD Pro 4K player which arrived today.
Connected the Dune to my Denon receiver which is connected to my NAS, Network file browser, found the NAS and connected everything fine through the network connections.
Now I went into the Dune's Source, found the 3D Metallica file but it shows as mpg file (not .iso). It doesn't play any .iso files.
Do I have to install another player to play the .iso files (and in 3D)?
I'm lost...

Thank you.

Cheers

Are the ISOs music files ?

New feature: When attempting to play SACD ISO (DSD ISO) audio files or
CUE audio playlist files, a recommendation to use HiByMusic application
is shown (with the option to directly launch the application) (after that
these files should be manually found and launched by the user inside
HiByMusic application; unfortunately, HiByMusic application does not
support direct launch-file action for these file types).

...........just a guess

Hi,

Thank you, no they are Blu-Ray .iso files (copied from my Blu-Rays with DVDFab and stored in .iso format on my NAS).
When I asked here in this forum people said yes, no problem. But did not mention how to play them back.

Cheers

OK, will check if I have any ISOs to try, the fact that they don’t list as .iso is odd.

Yes, it is.
ISO files do work on Dune Pro 4K, I've got tons of them in my NAS.

Can you verify the integrity of one of the DVDFab ISOs ?
E.g play it on a PC, or verify the structure using winrar or 7-zip ?

I have a copy of The Maze Runner 3D iso, Will verify it plays OK, although another user has confirmed many ISOs that play OK.

OK, tested The Maze Runner 3D iso - It lists as a .iso, plays correctly with blu-Ray menu.

There could be an issue with the ISOs, e.g not fully decrypted ?

This alpha version FINALLY implements the possibility to have subs on by default, and to give priority to either internal or external. I was getting really tired to have to set on the subs manually at each start.
Sub sync stills does not work.
23.976 is still wrong, but (for me) almost unnoticeable, except very strangely for the "Arrow" TV series where I see dropped (or repeated, can't tell which) very often.

In mvs decoded format?
What program do you use to create the Blu-Ray 3D .iso files?
What player on the Dune do you use to play those Blu-Ray .iso files?

Thanks again mate.
They are playing fine on my PC (VLC-Player), though no 3D since that's not supported on my box.

What player do you use to play your Blu-Ray .iso files?

Should I update teh firmware?
Current version which is on that box is from 28/11/2018.

The firmware version/date you quote is current, this is not a firmware issue.

I use the the default blu-Ray player.

But, you mentioned that when you see your movies listed, they are shown as mpg files.
My copy of the Maze Runner 3D ISO is listed as a .iso.
Select the file, press enter on the remote, playback starts, no need to select a player.
(To Play in 3D enable 3D in the Pro 4k video settings and on your display)

Are your ISOs fully decrypted, or, is VLC-player decrypting ?
The Pro 4K will not play unencrypted ISO files.

Sounds like you are not connected over samba or NFS. You are most likely seeing a upnp/dlna server running on your NAS which wont work with ISO files make sure you connect over samba or NFS

That was exactly the problem.
All works fine now and I don't have to send back this box.

Just one issue- the colours are not really the same as played back from my original Blu-rays over my Denon Blu-ray player. Is that the problem with the UHD not being functioning with this player?

Thank you kindly and enjoy the rest of the night (or where ever you are in the world).

Neither.
You have the choice between an external srt file, or the first internal sub muxed in the MKV file.
I don't know if it works for full BDs, I only watch MKVs.
But if you want the forced subs, all you have to do (with MKVs) is either to put them into an srt file with the same name as the movie, or remux them into the movies first. The second solution allows to use any font that the tool that convert srt to sup (I user tsmuxer) supports, and to control the position. Me, I like my subs at the bottom of the visible video, so the height position varies whether the aspect ratio is 1.85, 2.0, 2.20 or 2.35.

Good to hear you resolved the issue with correctly accessing files on your NAS. Didn’t suspect you were seeing them via DLNA.

HDR BT.2020 works fine on this player playback colour should be as for your Denon Blu-Ray player.
It’s just full UHD blu-Ray menus that are not yet working.
Using ‘play-lite’ you are able to play the main movie.

Check your video settings on the Pro 4K.
Is HDR enabled on the HDMI port of the display you are using for playback from the Pro 4K ?

How are the colours different, is the display ‘washed out’ ?

I don't know if it works for full BDs, I only watch MKVs.
But if you want the forced subs, all you have to do (with MKVs) is either to put them into an srt file with the same name as the movie, or remux them into the movies first. The second solution allows to use any font that the tool that convert srt to sup (I user tsmuxer) supports, and to control the position. Me, I like my subs at the bottom of the visible video, so the height position varies whether the aspect ratio is 1.85, 2.0, 2.20 or 2.35.
You don’t need to to anything to get forced subs from HD blu-Ray BDMV folder playback, the forced subs are automatically displayed.
(Also expect the same functionality for UHD blu-Ray BDMV folder playback + correct handling of seamless branching when Dune release UHD blu-Ray menus, hopefully very soon !).

I meant I would not bother with the current alpha releases but wait for the next beta that should have UHD menu support.

What program do you use to create the Blu-Ray 3D .iso files?
What player on the Dune do you use to play those Blu-Ray .iso files?

Cheers

I use AnyDVD for 3D ISO and MakeMKV for the rest.
Internal Player, the default one you find when you first startup your Dune.
