I even get it at Ramdon, dune freezes up enterily.

Netflix app sometimes works, but eventough my Marantz sr7010 receiver indicates Dolby+, the
sound reproduced by the system is not actually 5.1 surround.

When I use the Netflix App on my LG Oled TV 4k, everything is a okay. (sound indicator Marantz shows Dolby Digital)

Do those Dune developers know what they are doing? Obviously not...

We are testing first beta firmware with Netflix 5.1 feature. The aim is to collect more cases to evaluate. For me 5.1 from Netflix works fine. No problems. Also at Dune Ultra 4K. But you shall check it at preinstalled version of the app, do not try Netflix app from Google Play etc. And if you have issues with starting the app after firmware upgrade, factory reset of the player is recomended.
After factory reset some Google/Android services are not enabled in the player. When you enter Google Play Store, Dune activates them but Some of them cause lot of backgroud activity inside the Android system. Thats why it is not enabled by default. Quality and perofmance of some applications can be affected by those background tasks.


So all your observations have value for Dune, help to improve and release fixes for next (official?) versions.
Please share your observations with Dune, send email to their support, describe your configuration, how you connect the player to your AV stuff etc.
So yes, Dune developers know what they are doing. They release new feature in beta firmware, to allow us to test it widely, and to gather feedback to improve product quality via next versions.
So also, if you have problems with some UHD BD menu support for some images - Dune will be thankfull for details.

I did a factory reset and installed the latest Netflix from the Google Play (as it was recommended by another forum member).
Next I will do a factory reset again and use the preinstalled Netflix and see if that fixes it.

When I start a Film it runs for approx 10 / 15 seconds than the app stops and you get the pop up screen
app stopped.

My Dune is connected to my Network via an utp cable.

Dune is checking new version of Netflix app. It shall fix problems in some configuration. But it is still test version, a candidate to replace the one provided with firmware.
Please check it and confirm it you see any progress. You have to install it manually. Just download, place on USB memory, connect to Dune and execute it by pressing ENTER on the file.

You can also contact Dune support via [email protected], describe them the case, they will instruct you what additional data do the need. Probably they will ask you to restart the player, start Netflix, "generate" the problem and create special Service File and send them to check. Tks for the Software just installed it on the Dune.

First removed the old app. than did a new install restarted the Dune, normal 5.1 films work
however 4k Ultra content does not start. (eventhough I have a 4K subscription)

Will keep testing.

Speaking for myself I wish that the Dune developers were concentrating on

- frame rate
- HDR metadata
- forced subs in MKV files
- audio sync options
- MaxCLL and MaxFALL (is this same as HDR metadata?)
- improved MyCollection

and NOT what will always be an imperfect implementation of Netflix. I'm sure the majority of us on here bought the Dune HD Pro 4K with little or no interest in its implementation. There are much better ways of getting Netflix.

Yep. Dune was always a bit behind in user interface and (useless) apps, but made up for it by being technically close to perfect. Image quality could have been better compared to hi-end players though.

Totally agree once they fix those issue only then I will consider buying another dune and even will go for the higher end model.

Netflix etc is all secondary after the core issues are fixed.

Finally got around to testing the new menu support. Dune did an excellent job on the menu implementation of the movies I tried they all worked. For now this has postponed picking up the oppo for menu support.

SACD.iso/DSD/DSF Files

Has anyone been able to play any of these type of files or iso? If so, do the files need to be local (USB) or can they be played from a NAS. Also, what app on the dune HD pro worked for you? Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Chapter skip from the remote works if the movie is launched from BDMV folders via the blu-Ray menu.
FF/REW isn’t working smoothly. Also causes periodic freezes after use.

It happened to me sometimes always with HDMI trough Dune ==> Denon 8500 ==> PJ Optoma UHZ65. The Dune PRO displays Load... and freeze there.

When powering down the receiver Denon, although HDMI is going through the Optoma directly, the Dune then starts properly always.

I wonder if it is some kind of HDMI handshake problem at the final stages of the startup.

I agree. Dunes bluray full menu support for standard and UHD is a fantastic job. Not found one movie that it can't handle. Just got hold of UHD version of Black Hawk Down. This has two versions of the movie seamlessly branched. The Dune handles it flawlessly.

A great idea. Zidoo have done this and it works really well - however I prefer Zidoo's own movie wall!

The work is in the continued updates. You basically take the KODI code and fork it rip out the player in kodi and code around the Realtek player. Every time there is a major code update you almost have to start over. The answer to this is SoC makers stop using proprietary methods to communicate with the SoC. If they all used default android api method any player could work

It’s a shame Zidoo didn’t also put in the effort to create solid playback of HD/UHD blu-Ray menu folders, sort out seamless branching and forced subs.

Now that they have that sorted out, what I'd really like to see them do is stop development on My Collection, and just release a version of Kodi with their player as the default player. Someone smarter tell me how much work this really is.
Easy answer is to to use yaDIS. I did use Kodi on my Shield and while it is nice, it does take a while to customize it to your liking. For me, it's pretty easy to set up my yaDIS movie wall how I like it.

I do understand wanting something that's "built in" to the player.

Yadis is too static. I like the interactive features that you find in kodi skins and in My Collection like being able to browse directors and actors through the interface.

Anyone checked with vertex or lumagen if 23.976 is correct in all cases (bd engine, mkv's, 4K) ?
Are the HDR metadata shown properly after the latest major fw?
