Yeah.. And i disabled the lot.. What is the point of the movie icon if it isnt connected to my collection??

I use this on a 123" projection from a sony vpl-hw65es has anyone noticed ghosting and quite a lot of banding on 1080p? Or is it down to netflix low bitrate/encoding? Havent had time yet to watch a proper bluray other than test snippets so i dont know if this is present at proper video bitrates.

Also,is there any way to turn it on from android phone when it is powered off? Or is there a "standby mode" that works with the android app? I find it odd you still have to use the remote to be able to use the app..

New FW has just been released
Version 190601_0246_r13 (beta)
more at: http://dune-hd.com/firmware/pro4k/
New SDK will allow more updated in next versions. Now - we get improved SD AVI and DSD playback. Subtitles time-sync shall also work now.

Release notes:
- Realtek models: Updated to newer versions of core components of Realtek
SDK. This makes it possible to implement various fixes and improvements
for media playback functionality, but also could cause some regressions
and new bugs (to be fixed in future firmware updates).

- Realtek models: Maximum supported number of audio tracks per one video
file is increased to 256.

- Realtek models: Maximum supported number of subtitle tracks per one video
file is increased to 256. (Up to 256 embedeed subtitle tracks, and up to
64 external subtitle tracks.)

- Realtek models: Fixed problem that some AVI files were playing with
stuttering when using internal player. Internal player is now again used
by default for AVI files (instead of SPMC).

- Realtek models: DSD audio playback (ISO, DSF, DFF) is now supported not
only via "Internal player (Hi-Fi)" playback engine, but also via
"Internal player" playback engine, and is now supported on all Realtek
models (not only on Max 4K and Ultra 4K, as before). This new way for DSD
audio playback is optimized and is recommended for audio output to the
standard digital audio outputs (HDMI output and standard S/PDIF output).
Known limitations: only stereo DSD is supported; audio file should not be
too long (maximum supported duration is approximately 67 minutes).

- Max 4K: Added correct support for minor hardware changes (power control
of the built-on fan) in the recent batches of Max 4K (which are shipped
starting with May/2019).

- Amlogic models: DSD audio playback (ISO, DSF, DFF) is now supported.
Known limitations: only stereo DSD is supported; audio file should not be
too long (maximum supported duration is approximately 67 minutes).

- Amlogic models: Improved support for playback of WavPack (.wv) lossless
audio files.

- Amlogic models (latest generation only: tv174c, tv175e, tv175f, tv175p):
Added support for launching HTML applications (which can use Dune JS STB
API) not only via /config/stb_home mechanism (as was supported before),
but also from PHP plugins.

- All models: Implemented subtitle synchronization correction function
(same as was previously available on Sigma models, with an improvement
that synchronization correction is applied to each subtitle track
individually).

- All models: The setting "Setup / Playback / Control / UP/DOWN buttons"
now has an additional possible choice "Show playlist menu", which can be
convenient when watching TV channels, watching TV series, or listening
music playlists.

- All models: "Movies" menu: Updated per-years categories, added category
"2019+".

- All models: PowerPoint presentations in PPTX format (.pptx file
extensions) are now also supported (in addition to previously supported
PPT format).

- All models: "Android applications" menu now includes a preinstalled item
for "START.RU" VOD service ( https://start.ru ), which automatically
installs and launches AndroidTV version (optimized for TV screen) of
START.RU Android application.

- All models: Kartina.TV application updated to include some new features,
improvements and fixes which were previously implemented in Kartina.TV
STBs.

- All models: Small improvements and performance optimizations for TV
plugins (improved loading of icons and EPG information).

- Some other minor improvements/fixes.

Nice to see Dune focusing on what we are all asking for!

Good to see new firmware though. However still no update to My Collection which is alpha at best and allowed to wither on the vine.

Yes, you can choose to use external SRT subs in priority.

I saw the option, but did not try it. I use the SDR to HDR conversion, and need grey subs, whites ones are blinding, so I remux them into my MKVs, unlike what I was doing with the previous models.
The subs must have exactly the same name, with the same capitalization. If they don't work, it's a bug, you should report it.

I tried:

- If the MKV file does not have internal subs, external are automatic.

- I it does have some, you can select the external ones manually. Annoying, but not blocking.

Still a bug, but you can use the internal player, it's just 2 or 3 remote clicks to perform each time you start a file. Pretty much the same it has been since the beginning when the option for subs did not exist at all.

Pretty much the same it has been since the beginning .. of what ?

I had auto external subs with all previous Dune players I owned before this 4K Pro.
I don't use Dune's remote but Harmony remote.

Is there a way to get 24h format for the clock and screensaver?

Also, this is really strange. I have 3 different network locations with a score of shares added to the dune from brand new win10 installs on all 3,on 1 location there is no $recycle.bin and System Volume Information folder using the network browser, but on other 2 locations these folders show up..Its very annoying..

How do i get rid of them or hide them? I have ofcourse turned on "hide system files" on the Dune but these folders still show up..

You need to change your settings on windows not to see them. By removing them but they will come back after an update or you delete a file on the drive. You should email dune support and ask them to add this line to the smb.conf

hide files = /desktop.ini/$RECYCLE.BIN/System/ Volume/ Information/

which would hide them.

This is strange, because i deleted several files yesterday from the dune file manager, and the system folders did not appear on any shares on the box..

I have sent a feature request to dune support with your suggestion.. I am quite amazed this havent been fixed yet,as this has been a problem ever since at least Smart D1.

Deleting from DUNE would not make the folders appear as you bypass recycle bin. If you were on your windows machine and deleted a file out of one of the drives the Recyle.bin would populate. And the system and information folder shows up during certain updates and other windows related stuff.

This is not solved by new firmware, we have to wait for update of Netflix app. No news about that last days. Dune informed before, that 5.1 version is test version, still with issues.

After a few days with the Dune HD 4K Pro,i can now honestly say, this device is friggin AWESOME,at least for 1080p like i use it for.. It has played every bluray i have thrown at it,even the "problematic" ones my popcorn hour and Dune smart D1 refused to play,so i am very happy..
If only they would support 3D MVC MKV i would be in heaven,as i could then retire another device,my mede8er.. Although it has been a while since i watched 3D, it is still nice to have the option..

Does anyone know what the power consumption is in software standby?

Why do you convert your Blu-Rays into mkv and not straight into .iso format and keep the original format?
I don't understand...
Buying the most expensive hardware but then saving a few bucks on bigger HDDs...

Buying the most expensive hardware but then saving a few bucks on bigger HDDs...
Because i already have the 2D disc ripped, and dont want to store a "dublicate" and my mede8er didnt play menus and thus played the wrong playlists sometimes, annoyed me. Hence 3D mkv..
Also, mediainfo doesnt read inside iso files,so all my blurays are stored in folder format so yamj and yadis can scrape the correct technical information, cant do that with 3D discs, they will double in size

If only they would support 3D MVC MKV i would be in heaven,as i could then retire another device,my mede8er.. Although it has been a while since i watched 3D, it is still nice to have the option.

I mainly transcode to MKV too stripping out GBs of extras I’ll never watch and versions of the soundtracks that I’ll never listen to.

It’s an exact copy of the feature, there’s less to back up, you have instant access the the film never having to wade through bloated menus. What’s not to like?

The only time I take a full back up and use the BD menus is if the BD contains different cuts (using seamless branching).

Thing is, the Dune Solo 4K does that as well. Even better. And has been doing that for some years now... this is NOT the reason why you would want a Pro 4K.

Arcam AVR850 • Pioneer KURO KRP-600M • KEF Reference Model 4/2/200c •• Velodyne DD15 •• HDI Dune 4K Solo • Logitech Squeezebox Radio/Duet • Wyrewizard Dreamcaster & Spellbinder (by Nordost) • JVC D-ILA-X7500 • HDFury Vertex

What do you know of why i want to buy a HD 4k pro?

The solo is the exact same price as the 4k here, and i am not buying a 5 year old player when i can get a newer one,why would anyone? Why did you even comment on that? no one asked you if this was the "right" machine to buy.. What are you,the device police?

But can it do PowerPoint? Thats the question!

I'm amazed why they bring such a useless feature but still lack forced subtitles for mkv....

Having said that, if you only need 1080p there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to buy the Pro 4K. The Solo has the same BD engine and has better PQ anyway. Plus it can do the important stuff like forced flag.

Well, talking about using the Pro as a 1080p bluray player kinda gave it away.

True. But with your post you are implying that at last, now there is a good 1080p bluray player, that it is actually superb. Well, Dune already had a superb bluray player. It is even better then the Pro. So your observation is wrong.

I can comment on anything i want, just like you. You don't want comments on YOUR posts? Then don't place them.

One would have had to try it out to know that,smartass..I have used my popcorn hour a-210 until now..

And not that it is ANY of your business,i bought the 4k used,at a really good price.. Check the EU price on the Solo it is actually MORE expensive than the 4K.

Please keep your comments about what i shall or shall not buy, to yourself in the future..
