It sounds like you may have a setting or two off - these are my settings for 2K and these play out frame perfect:

Setup/Video

Maximum video mode: 1080p 23.976Hz *
Auto framerate: All (24/50/60Hz) **
Auto Resolution: Enabled **
HDMI 3D Support: No

Setup/Video/Addition settings

Maximum HDMI color depth: 12 bit
Preferred HDMI color depth: Maximum
SDR/HDR conversion: Auto
Chroma ... 4K50/60 8-bit: 4:2:0
Chroma ... 4K50/60 12-bit: 4:2:0
Chroma ... 4K24..30 12-bit: 4:2:2 ***
Chroma ... non-4K 12-bit: 4:2:2
Analog A/V output: enabled

* set this to 4K 2160p 23.976Hz if you also want to play 4K
** These settings are very important!
*** Be aware that although frame rate will be correct in this mode, colour
decoding occurs internally at 8-bit with no dithering, so chroma banding can be
present dependent on encoding.

(attached pdf for reference - updated: removed old data and spurious 3D stuff)
Thanks Mark. I think the only thing I had different was the maximum video mode which I had at 2160p 60hz. Will change that to 24p and see if it makes a difference.

That actually shouldn't make a difference as long as Auto framerate is set correctly, but since most material is going to be 23.976fps, it's best to choose that anyway - reduces resyncs.

Note that there is a difference between 24Hz and 23.976Hz and 23.976Hz is the one you want...

10-4. I just didn't want to type out 23.976.

Hello everyone,

I have been a Dune Duo user for many years and have just upgraded to the Dune Pro 4K a few months ago.

I absolutely love it but am having a headache of a time getting my Yadis working on it (I used Yadis on my Duo for many years and have a large custom library).

The specific problem I am having is Yadis on the Dune finding the file to play once I click it in the fanart page.

I can export Yadis data from my PC to the Dune. The artwork/interface is properly displayed on the Dune interface. But when I click to play it cannot find the file.

I know that the problem must lay with the folder settings in Yadis. My old Dune settings were set up like this and always worked:

\\DISKSTATION\Movies1
nfs://192.168.1.100:/volume1/Movies1

With the new Dune it will not work. I also tried replacing nfs with smb but no go. Now I know that the only way for the Dune Pro 4K to see my network movies is by adding network drives first in the Dune by bringing up the pop up menu and selecting add network folder. I have that done and can watch any movie on my network without issues. But what do I tell Yadis in the folder settings to have it locate the location.

Very frustrated but hoping you all can help.

Cheers.

Current Dune interface.

In the photo from the new Dune, the name box from the edit network folder is whited out by the camera for some reason but it should say Movies1.

Try this:

Folder: \\DISKSTATION\Movies1
Dune Path: smb://192.168.1.100/Movies1

etc...

There's no real need to use nfs these days, and it's always a bit of a headache.

(I assume Movies1 2 & 3 are shares and not folders?)

Movies1, Movies2, Movies3, Movies4 are folders. The shares are Volume1, Volume2, Volume3, Volume4. I think that is what your asking.

I included some screens from my Synology that may help you.

In regards to: Folder ( \\DISKSTATION\Movies1 - Dune Path: smb://192.168.1.100/Movies1 ), I have done this and many variations of it but the Dune Yadis interface will not open any file.

Ok, so if Volume 1 - 4 are shares, try:

Folder: \\DISKSTATION\Volume 1\Movies1
Dune Path: smb://192.168.1.100/Volume 1/Movies1

Thanks Mark.

I will try the settings and will post regardless of whether they work or not (I hate when people get good results then you never hear from them if it worked or not).

It's just a case of getting the path right - what you don't want to do is delete the existing ones and start again because that'll delete the library (I think!) but if the above doesn't work, another way is to go to setup/folders and <add> another location - then click the browse button and locate say Movies1 on the network and this will automatically populate the "Folder" and "Dune path" boxes with the correct smb path.

Don't save that, but just copy and paste those paths out to say a text document and then copy/paste those back into the original entry... Then adapt for Movies2 etc...

So far no joy.

I tried your first answer and then tried just clicking the folder icon and navigating to each movie folder. Yadis will scrape the movies, I can export the results to the export folder, and the dune can read the Yadis folder and show all backdrops for each film. But when I click 'enter' on the backdrop screen to play the movie it will tell me it cannot locate the file. But I can play any movie from the Dune if I navigate to Sources/Movies1...etc.

I am now wondering if Yadis needs the path not to the shares on the NAS but to the path Dune uses to access my shares.

Any thoughts? I included screens of how I navigate to my shares on Dune.

It worked!!!

So I went back and began variations of paths (process of elimination) and you were correct except instead of using the ip address of the NAS I used its name. It worked immediately.

I want to thank you for your help. The high-end media players are a pain in the ass when it comes to setup but when you have them set...well worth the money and time....sometimes.

Cheers

Hi, I have experience with many mediaplayers for decades and I am adicted to the disc feeling. That is a big problem with UHD BD-J because not many players support those. I am now trying the Dune HD PRO 4k and the UHD files do not open with the original BD-J menu, but they do play. Bluray is opening with the choise for lite and original, that's fine.
I thought I rad somewhere that this player was supporting UHD menu, but did I interperet that wrong?

Dune Pro 4K opens 4K movies with the UHD menu for all the 4k movies I’ve tried using BDMV folders or ISO.
What do you get when you use the UHD menu ?

You probably don't have beta firmware notifications enabled in the settings. Enable this and then make sure you update to the latest beta.

Hello all, I recently bought the Dune HD PRO 4k... watching Netflix and streaming movies from my computer. The past 1 week everything was working fine, till today when the Netflix was unable to load movies. At first when loading a movie, it only have sounds but no pictures. then after restart, the movie couldn't load at all after reaching 20% in Netflix. Ive tried uninstall, reboot and reinstalling Netflix but now when I open the Netflix app, the thing just wouldn't respond. Lastly I go to the android settings and reset everything back to the beginning where we need to setup the hardware. Problem is still exist now even I have done all those above and it seems non of the android software are working at all.

I have upgraded the firmware to the beta 190601_0246_12 but still unable to load. There is no issue with my Netflix or my internet as my PC are able to login those n watch 4k without any issues. My internet speed is 500mb dl / 100mb ul . Hope any masters here can guide me what should I do next?

To watch streaming apps such as Netflix and Amazon prime you need to look elsewhere as the Dune is hopeless for this. Its primary use is a media playback device for local media. I have this and a Zidoo and both are rubbish for Netflix. I use an ATV for streaming apps.
sprins and Seryl like this.

Samsung UE55KS8000 | Pioneer SC-LX701 | Dune HD Pro 4K | Zidoo Z9S | Apple TV 4K | Samsung UBD-K8500 UHD Player

Unfortunately this is true. Netflix is stuttering, catastrophe. It is unfortunate that they cannot solve this simple problem! So i never use the Dune for the Netflix, rather i watch that on my QLED. The NF on the Samsung is great!

Some great news for latest JVC projector owners - they are implementing firmware update for dynamic tone mapping -
and not dependent on (Max CLL/Max FALL) info -

" LONG BEACH, Calif, September 5, 2019 – Underscoring its commitment to offer the best possible home theater experience, JVC today announced a firmware update for its line of Native 4K D-ILA projectors that delivers a significant advancement in HDR performance. JVC will demonstrate this feature at the 2019 CEDIA Expo, September 12 - 14 in Denver at booth 2536.

This feature forward update adds JVC’s new Frame Adapt HDR function, which dynamically analyzes HDR10 picture level frame by frame and automatically adjusts the brightness & color to optimize HDR performance for each frame.

Because content brightness varies, a fixed setting cannot deliver optimum image quality. JVC’s new Frame Adapt HDR solves this by instantly analyzing the peak brightness of each frame or scene using a proprietary JVC algorithm, and adjusting dynamic range to provide the best possible HDR image. Frame Adapt HDR works with any HDR10 content, even content that does not contain brightness metadata (Max CLL/Max FALL).

MAIN FEATURES

1. Delivers images closer to reality

Dynamic range is adjusted in real time for optimal image projection. At the same time, saturation, hue, and brightness is analyzed and optimal corrections are made, which reduces color loss.

As a result, even within a single program, darker scenes have deeper blacks with enhanced color. Bright scenes have higher peak brightness without color loss while maintaining black level. All content is reproduced closer to what the human eye can see.

2. Compatible with all HDR10 content

Frame Adapt HDR adjustments are based on analysis of the input HDR10 signal. Therefore, it is effective on content with or without mastering information. As a result, all HDR10 content can be enjoyed with greater dynamic range and image quality than ever before.

3. Smooth gradation with 18-bit level gamma accuracy

The gamma processing accuracy, which in the past was based on 12-bit equivalent, has been improved to 18-bit and as a result gradation performance is dramatically improved. In any given scene, it reduces the banding effect in the bright portions and the crushing of dark portions. This provides accurate, smooth gradation along with higher average peak level brightness and increased color saturation, which has previously been a challenge with HDR content.

Other Improvements

* Support for 16x9 content when using a Panamorph Paladin DCR lens (adds Anamorphic D). It is now possible to leave a Paladin DCR lens in position and view both ultra-wide and 16x9 content correctly.
* Auto Calibration support for Spyder X sensor.
* Adds new presets to screen adjustment function.

The firmware will be available for download at no charge in October for the DLA-NX9, DLA-NX7 and DLA-NX5 as well as the DLA-RS3000, DLA-RS2000 and DLA-RS1000."

Awesome isn't it? Bet you can't wait to try it..

As I've said before I'm so close to pulling the trigger on an N7 but this now has me waiting to see how well DTM is implemented in comparison to MadVR Envy which should be unveiled this Thursday.. Exciting times!

indeed - seems kind of too good to be true but who knows - tech moves on
