ok,

As far as chroma banding goes, that has nothing to do with HDR, it's purely down to handling material at the wrong bit depth, so regardless of the SOC, if you process a file with 10-bit colour at 8-bit with no dithering, you're always going to get banding.

If you throw a 10-bit file at either box and process at 10-bits (or higher) you won't get any banding.

No idea about DVD - I rarely use SD content.

Is the Dune Pro 4K and the Dune Pro 4K Plus the same on this list? Good list by the way, thanks.

I can't categorically say yes because I haven't got one to test but I would fully expect so.

All the newer Dunes are still based on the old 1295, so basically the same as the Pro just with extra bits strapped on - drive bays, power supplies, DACs etc and the firmware is ostensibly exactly the same.

Although we know it can be done (Zidoo did it for the X9S in Jan 19) they have never managed to nail the 4K frame rate down and the internal 8-bit processing at 12-bit 422 seems inherent in the SOC as every other box using the same family has the exact same issue.

I had a problem with my DUNEHD pro player that just started happening recently... when ever I would choose a movie that was 4k the screen would go blank with no audio. I read a few responses, and tried what they said to do, but nothing worked...except where someone commented about which audio player you were using. I went and switched the audio player to kodi...same problem, but when I switched it back to what I thought it had been on it worked. The working setup uses internal player.

Playing directly with the Oppo is perfect, so the Dune Pro has a serious problem with 60fps UHD movies.
I tried the the movie today with my Dune HD Max 4K and had no Problems at all. No lip sync Problems, no Audio Dropouts.
It plays perfectly at 59.94 fps.

Some people have problems, and some not. Dune will have to resolve that ASAP.

Realtek RTD1295 SoC

The Max:

Sigma Designs 8642

But the Max is limited to 1080p, it's an old model:

That's the old Max. He's talking about the new(er) Max 4k, which also uses Realtek.

Yes, same SOC.

Specs do say that 4K60 HDR is supported on both, it should work. It looks like a firmware bug.

there is a bypass setting on the oppo 203 hdmi in. test it with that in case it is an issue with the hdmi.

Just I suggestion I remember I had to do something similar with my setup at the time.

I will, but I also have the issue direct to the TV without the Oppo. And with the AC3 track already!

Good afternoon, I live in Brazil, I'm looking for an average center that plays blu ray ISO or BDMV, but I can navigate perfectly in the menus like a physical blu ray, I'm in doubt on some models, you can suggest me what are the more efficient for what I'm looking for? For example between ZAPPITI, ZIDOO, DUNE, EGREAT and CHINOOPO which is the best or the models I can buy without fear that will suit me in what I need, I will probably put sata internal hd 5t and play everything on the internal hd. a hug

The Dune 4k Pro has been perfect for me, it has played every bluray i have tried flawlessly be it either ISO or BDMV.. Just know, time search and FF/REW does not work in full bluray menu mode, you are likely to blow your speakers if trying to FF/REW playing anything, but time search works fine on single m2ts file play for example.. Chapters work fine though,as does all menu navigation and pop-up menus.

I have no knowledge about the other devices you mention

Hi guys!

I have followed this thread but didn't get a definite answer.... Does the Dune support forced subs in Bluray ISO? I trying to decided between the DUNE and ZIDOO UHD 2000 but I can't a definite answer as to which media player supports forced subs in ISOs currently.

Thanks in advance!

Get the Dune 4k Pro Plus. It is almost the same as the Dune 4k Pro but you can put a 3.5" HDD into it.

friends, I heard that the old model from DUNE, the DUNE SMART B1, came with a built-in blu ray player, there are newer models from this brand and others that do the same work with blu ray iso and bdmv and that also accompanies physical blu ray player? brands like DUNE, ZIDOO, ZAPPITI, EGREAT among others?

Tank You,really the dune solo is more current, is there any other media center like B1? that has in addition to reading bd iso and bdmv with menus, also the physical blu ray player and that is more current? not only from the Dune brand but also from other brands

Absolutely love this player. A few questions.

1. Is the Dune HD Pro 4K HDCP 2.2 compliant
2. How on earth can you save the aspect ratio setting to fit screen or 16:9? Always having to change.
2. How can you save the audio language to English as default when playing a downloaded video? Always having to change.

Thx for your help

I have been asked by Dune support to give them info on the HFR file I am trying to play.

As you can read a few posts back some of us have problems playing Gemini Man in 4k High Frame Rate.
