I do. It's my main and favorite player. Haven't tried ripping as a backup with the folders intact but I can give that a go. I know it plays ISOs and 4k HDR MKV rips just fine though. Was there anything specific you wanted to know? (My displays aren't DV capable if that's where you were going with it)

No disc

Hi to all,
I have a Asus BW-16D1HT rev. 3.03 Firmware date: 2118-01-19 15:58 with a Intel i7-8700. I put the key_hashed.txt file on my data folder, when I try to read a UHD disc the result is allways "No disc"

What is wrong?

It sounds like you'll need to re-flash your drive firmware with an earlier version. Like many of us have had to do...

Yup... Firmware version 3.03 appears to be bad... you need to flash to an earlier version.. at least according to this list...

It sure what to say, I Place the “folder” within a folder I use for testing (to try and avoid scraping). I navigate to said folder via my “Movies” favorite which links to the root folder of my “Movies” share on my NAS. When I get to the folder with the folder structure I select the needed folder and it plays as if it was an MKV or ISO. Are you having difficulty with Infuse playing folder rips? (You won’t get DV of course, but it will play HDR10).

Yes I can browse shares on one if my Windows 10 Pro boxes but I cannot select an entire folder it forces me to drill down until I’m at the file level so all I can do is select the largest m2ts file and play that.
Maybe I do need to put the bdmv into an avchd folder and I always
run the modifier program.
I have paid for the appropriate app I believe.

Yes, the folders/files need to be put in a new folder called "AVCHD". When navigating to that folder just press play and the film should start playing. On the Apple TV it starts the film, on the OPPO it will have the full menu structure. You only need to use BDMV Modifier on 1080p Blu-ray rips, not on the 4K UHD rips.

The Apple TV use was with Infuse, I haven't used any other program on the Apple TV for LAN content.

Thanks Keenan, I’ll give it a try,
if this works oh boy look out!

Wondering, and this is more of a Windows question, but can external hard drives be shared like internal ones can?
I suppose I could just try.
The latest Windows 10 service
pack seems to have added something about making streaming super easy so that’s cool.

Best thing to do is Google this exact phrase “buy UHD friendly drives”.

External or internal does not make any difference. You can share them both.

Unless you see features you want/need then no. I subscribe so I’ll auto upgrade when the time comes.

I'm trying to understand this better.

I created a Backup with MakeMKV. The directory of that is shown below. What gets put into the new "AVCHD" folder?

Thanks

In that same directory where those 3 folders are create a new folder called AVCHD and then move the CERTIFICATE and BDMV folders into that newly created AVCHD folder.

How about Plex?

Or does it transcode the rips?

I don't use Plex much (and don't have an AppleTV) but whenever I've used it with my Oppo 203 it played mkv remuxes without transcoding.

Plex will not allow folder playback as described above on my Oppo though. (That's ok though 'cause the Oppo does that on its own.)

Shoot I'm still doing it wrong? I created the AVCHD folder and dragged all the movie folders into it, lol. Worked though. So create the avchd folder IN the movie folder and copy two of the three directories into the avchd folder. So each movie folder will now have two sub folders in it: an AVCHD folder and a MAKEMKV folder if perhaps that's the software used to create the backup, got it.

The keys must not exist yet, send in the dump file...

From the FAQ: https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewto...p?f=12&t=16883

How do I discover the key for a disc I have?
Right now there is no public way to do this, however: MakeMKV produces a dump file whenever you try to open a disc for which the key is unknown. If you send these dumps to [email protected], the disc will be supported in a future hashed keys update.

I submitted a dump, but it still isn't added to the hashed keys - how long does it take?
The hashed keys file is normally updated within 48 hours after you send the dump.
If that's not the case, it's possible the dump you submitted was a bad dump.
To avoid bad dumps, make sure that all of the following are true:
- You are using a version of MakeMKV either 1.12.0 or newer
- You are using a "friendly" drive, and not an "official" one (BU40N or WH16NS60, Pioneer)
- You have "allow contacting web server for updates" enabled in preferences
- You are opening the original disc (not a backup, not ISO, etc)
- You are opening the disc using real disc drive natively (no elby clonedrive, no vmware, no dvdfab or discsoft virtual, etc)

Could be, mike usually tries to update regularly. Of course we have seen releases with multiple keys as well.

Except well established keys go missing all the time and then re-appear.
Report from an engineer buddy of mine who was messing with the DVDFab flasher he tried to do a wh16ns60
And while doing the firmware dump the app crashed then windows crashed he repeated the bug several times and sent it in. The entire engineering staff is gone for a week doing trust falls at a team building event in the mountains. Lol.
