Looks like you have at least a couple options.

1. Backup the default folder where plex stores all the metadata with the mkv's you have saved.
https://support.plex.tv/articles/202...ctory-located/

2. Store any custom images you downloaded in the media folders themselves and plex will use them. These should be backed up along side your library.

Great, I've already backed up the images but now I can backup the metadata as well!

Hey thanks for this. Yeah I over reacted as usual. Folders are working. I’m still keeping this precious box off the network

My new LG BH16NS55 with UHD Friendly firmware drive has been working perfectly for 4K rips with makemkv but today no luck.
Ive tried and tried to rip the 4K disc I just bought of The Patriot with no luck over and over, it just won’t load. I have cleaned the disc over and over and still no luck, what does one do now? Do you know if there are any issues with this Universal title?
I have also tried DVDfab with same results.

This is the message I get on makemkv.

Lotta weird stuff happening with the program lately. Spending far
too much time doing tech support for someone else’s code.
Lots of certificate revoking which I understand very little about. Lots of missing keys for titles that have been in there forever.
Far too many custom flashers and firmware discussions.
I’m not complaining though. Poor newbies visit forum, spend an hour getting a massive headache, give up, and end up emailing me or Billy and problem solved

Sir, both The Patriot and Fury use a form of encryption that has not
yet been “cracked” and are not able to be backed up using MakeMKV right now. What you are experiencing is by design.
You are OK!

What a nightmare then, I have no way of playing it now as I dont own a 4K BD player.

I had the BD 1080p version I bought many years ago and just bought the 4K version yesterday to compare it, to my BD version, Ive just wasted my money

Is there a place we can go to of the discs that wont rip, at lease then I dont throw money down the drain?

I think the DeUHD stuff can “rip” these but you’d have to check with those folks.
Also I’d post something in the thread regarding that issue on the MakeMKV forums so he can see that yet another user has run into this issue.

I see you've already posted on the official Makemkv forum and they told you that AACS 2.1/Category C, i.e., Fury 4K UHD and The Patriot 4K UHD, are NOT supported.

What you can do is purchase DeUHD, which is the software that was able to decrypt this copy protection, and make copies of these films.

Yes I wonder why DeUHD is so expensive $200 someone said. I tried to use its free evaluation software to see if it would rip Patriot, but I couldnt even get that to work. I had to email them asking why it wouldnt work for me but I very much doubt I would pay $200 to get one disc ripped. I paid for makemkv and DVDfab, I dont see the point in adding another....

I wonder if the red fox program Clone BD can rip those discs? It must be paired with any DVD HD but I have that anyway.

I never have to choose playlist either at exit automatically. I love it!

I use the AnyDVDHD rip to ISO for UHD and so far it's worked flawless. I then convert just the movie to MKV. Plays without issue on my Zappiti 4K player from a USB connected drive.

No it cannot. Unless something has changed recently, it cannot rip The Patriot or Fury UHD BDs.

I think it can rip them as a protected ISO if you want to save that for the future. But you won't be able to do anything with it till a fix comes out.

That would make sense. Since a protected ISO is like playing the actual disc. But I have not tried that since I have no way to play an encrypted UHD BD from a PC.

I have used the protected ISO option for titles that are not available in Any DVD HD yet. And then I will run MakeMKV on the protected ISO and it will still create an MKV from it. Assuming that title is in it's database. Which is usually is since MakeMKV typically has the titles in their database much sooner than Redfox has them.

Has anyone here noticed that links to the MakeMKV forums are now being blocked by AVS Forum?

I posted several links to MakeMKV in a 4K PC build guide in the HTPC forum and they have suddenly become blocked. The links in the first post of this thread also do not work. Any link to the MakeMKV forums posted here is being redirected. The same links tested at the Kodi forums still correctly direct to MakeMKV. And links to other ripping software still work.

I smell a conspiracy...

I purchased deUHD lifetime support for $99 several months ago.
I had no problems ripping The Patriot and Fury.
I also own AnyDVD HD, CloneBD and DVDFab.

deUHD rips faster than DVDFab.

Im a bit new to ripping 4K discs but have used makemkv and DVDfab for years!

I just hate trying to rip my 4K discs I buy, often I have issues, sometimes they load many times they dont. Often when i get them to load they get 3/4 the way through then they die and with errors. I have one of the LG friendly drives I bought from the place in Australia.

I try to clean the discs just with a clean cloth, that never helps. is there some trick to making them work or more reliable?
I have over 1500 BDs I have ripped over the years and hardly ever have I had an issue ripping them.
These 4K discs really drive me nuts

The latest frustration today is with Coco, Ive attempted this film like four times today, just a real pain......

I have DVDfab for BDs but my trail version for 4K ran out as they only allow you three attempts.... Is it worth me buying the 4K version from DVDfab, or is it a bit like, if it doesnt work on makemkv, dvdfab wont be any better senario???

Maybe it's the drive you are using?

I use three Asus drives for ripping my UHD BDs. It's extremely rare for me to have any issues ripping the discs.

53TB unRAID2--45TB unRAID3--35TB unRAID1a
TCL 6 Series--Sony UBP-X800--Philips BDP7502--Onkyo HT-S7800
XBL/PSN: WormholeXtreme

Reading the makemkv forums it seems pretty common to have discs that won't rip, they will play in a player but have rip issues, needing to be returned.

I just got into 4k ripping myself and out of the 6? discs I have bought one needed to be returned as it wouldn't rip. Luckily it was new from amazon so no big deal. But seeing how common it is has made me leery of the second hand market.

I bought the drive from a person in Australia who sells UHD friendly drives with the firmware flashed, it was recommended to me.

I dont buy and second hand discs for that very problem. I got Coco to rip after about 6 attempts of re cleaning and re cleaning and re cleaning it!

Oh so you finally got it, nice. I forgot what mine was but I finally gave up. The second disc I got through the return worked first shot. I have read about bad batches, so sometimes even a return has the same issue. I guess doing a rip is more sensitive than just watching the movie in a BD player.

Looks like it is either still on sale or on sale again for €99. Hmmm...

When I ripped my entire collection of maybe 150 discs, roughly 15% failed. Of those that failed, roughly 1/2 were "rescued" by cleaning and polishing.
I put all this down to the fact that the PC drives, while "friendly" to BDXL discs, are not optimized in hardware or software for UHD discs. Hence, more likely to fail reading. STB players have hardware and firmware optimized for UHD, and more importantly they spin the disc at 1X during the movie.
giomania and SuperFist like this.
