Zidoo X20 / X20 Pro

Zidoo will release two units after all!
Smart move since the "simple" X20 is the one most users will want. The Pro model only has 2GB of extra RAM and and ESS9038 DAC.

The chassis will probably be the same for both units, which is great considering the pictures released.
Still no word on operating system (should be Android 7.0 though) pricing but it would be great if the simple model's cost is below 300-350$
Should be released during May.

Analog stereo audio is a "key" feature? Are we back in the 70's?
Unless, what is suppose to be a HT device, is expected to be used in a commercial environment.

Pre/Pro setups are still very popular.

My point was and is, it adds extra expense with very limited, if any usable benefits to the majority of the users.

Like all of these Chinese wonders, they need to concentrate on all the issues first, not adding more so called 'features' to foul things up more. They can all start my printing a actual manual which these desperately need! And I don't mean some lame, quick start guide. Look at their web page for these models (the X10 specifically). One would think it was a layout for a Mercedes Benz.

Great news for owners of existing models too. Most likely they will be updated as well.

A very nice interface indeed! I also like the spec and this is the first mediaplayer i can think of upgrading my current Zappiti to but must clearly see how it performs first. Can’t wait for the initial reviews.

Does anyone know if these will have auto resolution and auto frame rate? (output at native resolution and frame rate without having to manually switch it)

Both should be supported.

The first batches will be dispathed by the end of the month, not earlier.

I am wondering the same, Amazon isn’t showing anything. Who else should we be looking at?

Probably “safer” to wait for Amazon, in terms of exchanges or returns...

Are their US MSRP’s published?

I like how it looks, like a full-sized audio component. The only thing I don't like, much like the Zappiti, is that you can see the latches for the hard drive enclosures. I much better like how Egreat has the door covering that latch. Of course if the machine works well, that little thing is a moot point.

Review of the Zidoo X20

Makes all the basics right from the first FW. (the realtek banding bug is still here but there is a manual workaround).
Play Store and You-Tube are missing but most probably this had to do with the more... serious flagship grade profile that the company wants for its player.

It should have a bright future with the correct price.

X20 has a flagship feel, build quality is excellent... but from an A/V performance aspect, no different from X9S/X10. This may change w/future f/w improvements. For now, I'm sticking w/my smaller form factor X9S. Will keep X20 to keep testing with ahead.

It is true.
This one is like Zidoo X10 on steroids. That is not a bad thing though. The user interface and the overall closed source feel does make a difference.

PS.
also released.

Does this properly output 23.976 as opposed to 23.980 frame rate for UHD?

Zidoo still haven’t fixed this with the x9s and it’s annoying as hell...

Zappiti gets it right with the same Realtek chip I believe, so it’s possible.

At this point, X20 is a couple of steps behind X9S/X10 for A/V performance. Wasn't aware X9S has been doing 23.980 fps for UHD; have any info/links on this? ISO or MKV, or for both?

@Brajesh

Can you be more specific about what features are behind the X10 for A\V performance?
I am also very interested to know if the X20 can output 23.976 for all video resolutions in MKV containers?

I'm considering getting this player but if it fails to output the correct framrate and they still havn’t managed to fix this makes me a bit worried. Would appreciate if anyone can test some BD and UHD BD rips in MKV format and see if they are outputted in 23.976.
