In this case MKV and no menus or you've got to have the GD menu or else...

Or....you could offer lithiumus the third option ‘watch your blu-ray on an Oppo BDP-83, but remember to Switch the unit from Bitstream to PCM’

But the analogy does’t seem complex enough to encompass that.

I wonder if it has something to do with the pixels or quality of each photo instead of what's in the picture?

No prize - you'd either know the picture or you wouldn't... It's from around 2007.

Is this a UK thing or popular in the UK? I've not seen it before.

So I cheated and did an image look up.... It's apparently a very popular meme but I've never seen it before your posting.

New Zidoo Z9S and Z10 (RTD1296 SoC)

Haha nice!

Its very appropriate, as this “soon” theme is consistent with all these players. The promise of features that are just not quite there and the years of waiting for firmware...

We see new models releasing but is it worth investing? Will it end up collecting dust or driving us crazy when companies focus effort on features rather than core quality and operational ones.

This player has sat collecting dust for more than a year as i made the decision that I cant live with the seamless branching pause and audio dropouts... and instead live with framerate minor stutter (no audio dropouts Dune 4k pro). In fact i settled for 2 x Egreat A5 as they suit my needs for Menu support better and no framerate issues but do have other issues...

I wonder if any of these companies will finally release a golden player that actually meets the quality they advertise? I mean if Zidoo just dropped menu support and said, “hey we just dont support that...” it would be golden. I would have saved my money and focussed on other players...

Great meme! Old school!

I wonder if there are any updates to the Zidoo music player app? The scraping feature for flac files is not as good for audio files.

Yesterday I had a fall in the network so I restart everything .Although that I made backup of the library as soon as I try to restore the device found the internal disk with the movies and scrap them correctly but the rest from the Synology Nas was a mess . I cannot do all the time that from the beginning .
Imagine that all tv series was renamed from Filebot in the right order and the device scraped crazy posters !!

What do you propose to avoid every time that?

I tired a search but didn't come up with much, so apologies if this has been asked before.
I pull everything from my Server and all of my media is ISO file 1:1. I have read about seamless branching issues with blu ray files. Does this same issue exist with 4K UHD ISO files? I have a z9s I could udst off for the living room system and it's only use would be 4K UHD ISO files from my server. I use a M9702 "chinoppo" in my main set up for everything there. If I have to pony up another $399 I will, but just thought i might get by with the z9s.

Thanks for providing this as a download Mark - the only one that I really need is the ability to control the poster labels and badges.

Whats is "Control Poster labels and badges independently"?

There is still the issue where the scraper uses TMDB and not TVDB to scrape a TV series. This leaves info like director and cast empty. Need to force re match to get that info. Then you tend to loose the poster! Getting better though.

Means you can lose the IMDB rating on the upper left corner of the poster but keep the Quality badge - HD, 4K etc. on the right hand corner.

I have my Z9S for couples of week now and can say initial impression are still great.

In this particular context, we watch a lot of content and everything I send to the Zidoo it play flawlessly.

From last Star Wars bd folder rip to some mkv tv show and even old family souvenir in old iso dvd burn, all play without any bugs.

Since I got the player did not do one reboot. The basic functions seem pretty solid to me.

Every time I search for a function or try to change a option I found what I am looking for in short time and every time I am surprise how easy and straightforward this player is.

I like that little device so much I move it from my bedroom setup to my main family room setup.

I have a similar experience. I had initial issues with a first purchase which was returned (audio/video stutter and dropouts on some titles - not all), however my wife couldn't live with the alternatives (Zapitti, Shield Pro 2019) and I "double dipped" and bought a second, sure in the knowledge that I could still play most of the files and those that showed issues would hopefully be resolved in future firmware upgrades.

Happily the second unit I received has exhibited none of the previous issues. It can occasionally be a little unstable with ISO menu playback, but nothing that "backing out" and a re-try doesn't resolve.

I'm not totally convinced that the Z9S was the cause of the problems I witnessed, as I changed "all" HDMI cables during that troubleshooting phase. I had all "premium certified" cables already, but felt that there may well have been some that were failing, or working "at the edge" of their capabilities and causing the instability I was seeing throughout my system. After much consideration I plumped for these https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and they have provided a rock-solid base since their introduction. A little more than I normally spend on cables - but so far worth the additional outlay. I also re-routed my sources, originally routing source > video processor > (splitting signal to) Projector/AV processor, changing to source > AV processor > video processor > Projector. All these combined changes and full shut down and re-setting of HDMI handshakes seems to have totally stabilised the set-up and I have had no issues with any sources since then.

I'm now a very happy camper

Hope we a firmware soon. Running v2.3.10. Trying to play full UHD BD of Rogue One. It's a typical Disney release with many M2TS files making up the movie. Sticks at the first join - 40 seconds in. Sigh. Will either remux to MKV just use my Dune.

Hope we a firmware soon. Running v2.3.10. Trying to play full UHD BD of Rogue One. It's a typical Disney release with many M2TS files making up the movie. Sticks at the first join - 40 seconds in. Sigh. Will either remux to MKV just use my Dune.
From reading some of the posts on this forum, you’d get the impression the Z9s is trouble free, but unless you are able to stick to MKVs this is not the player of choice.
It is not acceptable to have to restart ISO or BDMV folder playback because the first playback attempt glitches.
It would be OK if a later firmware release really was likely to fix those affected titles, but so far this seems not to be the case and there have been many firmware versions. Some ISO/BDMV titles don’t start no matter how many times they are restarted (John Wick UHD).

Yeah. I'm pretty annoyed MKVs somehow ended up some sort of defacto standard. ISOs are so much easier to deal with, especially for 3D. I guess maybe it goes back to when people were doing more shrinking. I guess no one bothers to shrink anymore.
