I don’t have a tutorial link but this could be useful....hope you can get it working.

I haven’t tried the following procedure, but researching suggest that it should be possible to use the built-in openWRT to allow other devices on your network to see drives attached to your Z9s

No additional software required.

The objective is to enable SMB in your Z9s using openWRT and share the Respective attached HDDs

To enable either Samba or FTP servers on Zidoo box using OpenWRT.
(In the following steps, you should be able to use the web browser from the Z9s to manage the openWRT config on that Z9s)

1. Find the IP address of your Z9S/Z10/X20/X20 Pro on your local network. Home screen - About. (e.g. 192.168.0.33)
2. Access that IP address from the Z9s’s web browser. The default password is a blank space (highly recommended to change it on first use!).
3. Go to NAS Services in the OpenWRT menu, then the Samba or FTP options. Check the 'enable' box to turn on.
4. For Samba, select which directories you want to share by selecting 'Add' at the bottom. If you want to share everything enter / in the path box. All attached storage is at path /mnt
5. Selected folders should now be visible to the network as Samba shares (or FTP folder if FTP chosen).

Never tried the subtitle download before, but just tried it and it seems to work fine (HT v2.9.28). Searching obviously relies on how your files are named.

As for the quality of the downloaded subs that's another matter completely - the couple I tried were way off sync and goodness knows where they came from!

You're much better off ripping any subs you want from your original source in the first place.

I prefer to watch disks for my most favorite and highest fidelity movies but for the rest, especially my collection of old/er TV shows/series, B&W movies, etc. the Zidoo is perfect for quick access and very good quality imo.

Did Zidoo do an update push for the poster wall? Movie trailers just started appearing and playing. I saw no notifications about an on-line update and did not perform a manual one.

That's interesting - I was beta testing the early trailer versions and it's now public but I'm not aware of any mechanism to push HT out - what version does HT2 show in settings/about?

I assume you're talking about the latest version of HT. Its been a couple of months since I did a manual OS update. I don't even know how to update HT separately.

Yes, latest version of HT - as far as I knew the only way to install was to manually installed the apk...

Maybe or probably the firmware guys declared it as a final version and updated it on all devices silently? Despite a very unusual situation...

I can't seem to find much talk on here about the Z1000 or UHD 2000 so I thought I would hit up this thread, how do these players compare with Zappiti? I was kinda interested in the Zidoo line because of its use of the 1296 chip. I was also curious if Plex or Kodi were 100% operational with these players? with Zappiti Plex and Kodi can't do 4K and won't pass through DTS Master or Atmos.

From a UHD2000 review (it may not be relevant to your proposed use, but may be useful to others)...

“ Major

1. Seamless branching is still an issue with some movies like Trolls, John Wick 3, etc. but I wouldn’t fault Zidoo too much because it’s a problem for the Zappiti too. For some reason, Realtek just has a problem with seamless branching”

Haven’t tried PLEX, but the Kodi build specifically for the Zidoo boxes works well, calls out the Zidoo player, and it plays back 4K HDR and full Atmos, DTSX and everything I’ve thrown at it.

The main thing about their custom Kodi apk seems to be that once you hit play it calls up the Zidoo player, which is a plus. ZDMC is what it’s called, but it’s Kodi.

v2.9.28 is a wrap up of the previous beta versions of HT2 so can be regarded as the current release version but I'm surprised it was pushed.

I've sent a message asking about the mechanism.

I've been using the Z9S for 2 months now, and unfortunately, I occasionally notice micro-jerks or frame drops that are not reproducible and, in my opinion, do not appear regularly. But I can be wrong about regularity.

The problem occurs with firmware 2.2.97 and also with the just installed 2.3.10. I only watch 1080p mkv 264/x265 movies.

Display settings: 10Mbit, YCbCr 444, Color: 16-235

I use a Samsung TV 65RU8009 in combination with the Zidoo. I seem to remember reading somewhere in a form that micro jerks/frame drops may happen because of the Samsung TV, but I can't remember any details.

One solution would be to run a test video at 23.976 fps (I know of a pendulum video) to see how often the error occurs. Does anyone have a good video link for me to download?

But maybe someone else has already gained experience and can help?

Thank you in advance and many greetings

On the Z10 on the Quick settings , then to Display is better the use of Auto ?

The reason for asking is sometimes I have stutter on the 1080 videos when I have it on auto ...
When I select the 1080 then there is no stutter ...

This is because is upscaling and push the device chip ?

Hi!

I'm not certain, but I saw in some some forum reference to an operating system that can be installed in the Zidoo which has a different design, such as a theme, with the access to all features of the media player functions. It appears to be a mask as you similar to what you can do with an android phone when installing the "Nova Launcher".

Does anyone know anything about this?

ZDMC is Zidoo’s custom version of Kodi, which is available to install, and offers most of the flexibility of the current Kodi version and the ability to call out the Zidoo player.

For those not on the Zidoo forum, HT3 is now in beta.

It adds a new launch page showing recently added movies, currently watching movies, genres, recommendations and an editable category list.

This screen can be turned off in settings, so then HT3 behaves the same as HT2.

There are a few cosmetic issues here and there, but nothing serious - it looks good and works well.

@markswift2003 thanks for sharing!

I cant find anything in the Zidoo Forum. Can you share a link to access that?

Is it possible to test it?

Thanks a lot!

I believe you can apply for the public beta here:

It's still in testing, but I think this version will be bundled with the next firmware updates.

My new receiver is downgrading the 4k 23hz YCbCr 4:4:4 10 bit output to 8 bit. Works fine when i bypass the AVR. Am I interpreting the specs correctly that it should support 10 bit?

Supported resolutions
HDMI IN1 to IN4:
• Copyright protection technology: HDCP1.4/HDCP2.2
• Color space (Color Depth):
– 720×480i 60 Hz, 720×576i 50 Hz, 720×480p 60 Hz, 720×576p 50 Hz,
1920×1080i 50/60 Hz, 1280×720p 24/25/30/50/60 Hz, 1680×720p
24/25/30/50/60 Hz, 1920×1080p 24/25/30/50/60 Hz, 2560×1080p
24/25/30/50/60 Hz, 4K (3840×2160p) 24/25/30 Hz, 4K SMPTE
(4096×2160p) 24/25/30 Hz : RGB/YCbCr4:4:4 (8/10/12 bit), YCbCr4:2:2
(12 bit)
– 4K (3840×2160p) 50/60 Hz, 4K SMPTE (4096×2160p) 50/60 Hz : RGB/
YCbCr4:4:4 (8 bit), YCbCr4:2:2 (12 bit), YCbCr4:2:0 (8/10/12 bit)

Amp has zero setup parameters for deep color or anything similar. Cables test ok, hdr and resolution are ok, Oled has deep color enabled, the 8bit banding is the only problem.

It will support 10 bit if you lower the color space to 4:2:0.
If you're sending 4:4:4, it will only support that at 8 bit.

I love my iPhone, but it will never replace my turntable. I've never seen Titanic OR XXXXXXXXX.
