So is there really a refreshed Cube model coming out at the same time as the new Stick 4K or did someone just goof on the Amazon product page? There's a "New" badge on the Stick and Cube, and a message box on the Cube page saying it'll be released on the 31st, but the specs on the Cube look like they would be inferior to that of the new Stick 4K.

The same just with the new remote. The 4k stick is way better hardware-wise. Not sure why anyone would buy the cube at this point.

I sideloaded the Android TV Vudu app on my Cube... and it works... (post on XDA about it including a link to the APK i'm using on my FTV2 and Cube). On the Cube it does HDR10 and Atmos... My Receiver reports the video signal input is 4K(3840x2160)59hz YCbCr420 30bit while the movies are playing with the Vudu app. The cube is set for Auto up to 4K, Frame Rate matching on, Color Depth up to 12bit, and Color format as YCbCr.

I'm hoping I can do the same on the new 4K stick.. I guess I'll find out in a couple of days....

Thanks. Was debating between the Stick and Cube, so if the only change to the Cube is a new remote, that makes the decision easy.

Vudu sideloaded does 4k HDR on the Cube? If it does someone could rip the Vudu app off of one of the Android TV based Sonys that does Dolby Vision and we could try that on the new stick.

DV shouldn't have anything to do with it. Vudu has many titles that are only in HDR10.

Yes it does.

I'm using one level down from the current version of the Android Tv app/apk, so the app should support all features.. but the cube doesn't support DV, and even using the latest Vudu app on my Sony XBR65X900F TV (TV supports DV), I can't find titles marked as DV... Just HDR.

Great! Let us know if the prime video app shows Dolby Vision + Dolby Atmos for Jack Ryan. Based on some other threads for other streamers, its possible Atmos is temporarily missing as an option for Jack Ryan.
And maybe if Netfilx shows Dolby Vision + Dolby Atmos?

I know. I got that. I think you misunderstood what I meant.

My Sony TV, runs Android TV, supports DV and has Vudu app "built in" ( the latest Android TV version of the app) but I can't find any movies in Vudu marked with DV for me to test how the Vudu app performs...

In other words, I was hoping I could verify the Android TV app gives me DV on the TV before I try on fire stick.

I don't have the proper setup to confirm but here's one movie Vudu claims is streamable in DV: https://blog.vudu.com/vudu-has-star-...by-vision-hdr/

Here is a list of DV movies from Netflix, Apple, Vudu, and Amazon. I presume it's accurate. https://essentialinstall.com/case-st...vision-titles/

It will just support HDR10 which is fine. Nice TV- I also have a Vizio P65-E1 which has Dolby Vision. I think the Sony has just as good a picture, even without it. I do tend to like the Vizio just a little more tho.

Wow! This thing seems huge when compared to my Roku Streaming Stick +. I didn't expect it to be this big. But it does come with an HDMI dingle to use if needed.

Is it possible to connect it directly to the input of my Denon 4500H instead of connecting it to the HDMI input of my TV? Not too pleased with ARC on my Sony Z9D .. always some issues.

For once it seems like Amazon got the audio working right for a FireTV at launch. I am getting Dolby Vision for Jack Ryan and also getting Atmos audio from it. And 5.1 DD+ from other titles.

Framerate match is working fine. As well as auto switching between SDR, HDR10, and Dolby Vision.

Although it defaulted to always on DV. I needed to change it in the settings.
If I wasn't using it on DV set, I guess it would have defaulted to always on HDR10.

So far, with what I've tried, this seems like the most complete FireTV launch ever.

And the TV control works correctly too. It took under twenty seconds to set it up.

I know, but it was funny. Between your use of huge and dingle, it started to border on TMI.

Anyway, I hope you report that the 4K FTV Stick is a winner.

EDIT: Just saw your post prior to mine. Looking good!

And it's sending out 2.0 audio from 2.0 content like it should.

Although it is sending 2.0 DD+ from the music I'm playing. So I guess it has the ability to convert to DD+?

Framerate match is working fine. As well as auto switching between SDR, HDR10, and Dolby Vision.

Although it defaulted to always on DV. I needed to change it in the settings.
If I wasn't using it on DV set, I guess it would have defaulted to always on HDR10.

So far, with what I've tried, this seems like the most complete FireTV launch ever.

And the TV control works correctly too. It took under twenty seconds to set it up.

Can you try side loading Vudu that was mentioned? If it works I'll be buying one!

No Atmos audio from Netflix. Although I did not expect it anyway. But I am getting Dolby Vision from Netflix.

I'm also seeing 115 Mb/s on the Netflix speed test. I'll need to try Plex to see if it can play my UHD BD rips.
