DC Universe Streaming

So, the new DC Universe Streaming service show "Titans" launches next week.

To my surprise, I found out that this isn't even available on any of the gaming consoles. No Xbox One. No Playstation 4. No Playstation 3. No Xbox 360. None of the Nintendo consoles. Nada.

So, Roku, AppleTV, or FireTV if one wants to watch this on an actual display. Google Chromecast doesn't even work from the phone to the TV.

$8/mo Warner? Really?

I might hook up my FireTV stick to my main TV next week to check it out. If so, I'll report back whether or not the service (not the show) works well.

Sigh.

Last time I looked it wasn't even available on FireTV. Epic fail.

The Android TV version of the app is much better than the Apple TV one.

That said, the app is pretty bare bones- I'm not even sure if it's 1080p. Definitely no surround sound.

It's like they're trying to fail. My son really wanted to be an early adopter of this streaming service. He was even willing to pay for the yearly subscription himself, but I couldn't in good conscious let him pay for this as is. Besides, I wasn't about to buy another piece of hardware just to play it. DC really needs to get their **** together with this service before Titans airs or it'll be another in a long line of DCU failures.

So I've had this for a month but just now figured out how to download and install the app on my Sony 900e. About to watch Doom Patrol - hope its as good as everyone says it is!

Does this do 5.1 through the app? via ARC via the TV app but I figured that wouldn't be a problem if the file was encoded in 5.1.

Anyone know?

Thanks for this. Confirmed this is now showing in HDR and 5.1 audio through my AppleTV 4K. I was getting a little miffed that it was barebones quality earlier, but this update is very welcomed.

Maybe it was different at launch but I think the service is top notch... they've got intro skip feature, HDR and surround sound on Android TV.
I also noticed you can download for offline viewing on the Android mobile app. I've been enjoying the original content so much I ponied up for the annual subscription.

Awesome news on the 4k and HDR goodness! I'll try and finish Doom Patrol this week then!

After getting a new Roku I picked up a free three months of CBS All Access.

What a major disappointment - very little worthwhile content, except Star Trek.

* One minor oddity. When comparing shows that are also available on Hulu or Netflix, about half have minor to major picture quality improvements.

Compared to DC Universe it is not worth it and will be dumped.

I think the continuing new programming and all the quality past programming will keep DC Universe strong. Their Comic collection needs better organization and better Apps to view it.

Call me crazy, but I could consume pretty much all the worthwhile video content on the DC service in one $8 month, and probably in just the 7-day free trial period... I'd say Titans and a handful of the animated movies are worth that single month's subscription, but I gave up on Doom Patrol after 2 or 3 episodes (even though I usually love Alan Tudyk). I watched Titans Season 1 on Netflix while I was out of the country, but I'll probably wait for the entirety of Season 2 to hit and watch it and a few of the animated movies on the free trial.

Is anybody getting Swamp Thing in 4k HDR?

I'm not. They had some problems supporting Vizio via casting, even though they said they supported Chromecast at launch. They seemed to have fixed it. I now get all the other shows in 4k HDR (although stereo only), but Swamp Thing is only 1080p SDR for me.
