I guess by having that bundle it will be a way for them to get their ESPN+ numbers up.

Since if Disney+ and Hulu with ads is normally $13 a month. Then you might as well sign up for all three since it would be the same price.

But for me. I have zero desire to have the Hulu plan with commercials.

From what I have seen posted there are no plans as of yet for commercial free bundle (that’s the one I want as well).

Yeah .. I'd speculate that in order to support that initial low price point, ad revenue from commercials may be the plan .. after all, I'm going to guess Disney+ will be hitting a very sweet spot, demographically ..

HULU with commercials is not too bad .. they are generally under 2 minutes, and, sometimes, you get none at all ..

I'd also suggest you may want to consider changing the Thread title to something like ::

Disney+ Master Thread

Or something that would be kind of a catch all Thread for the service .. Investor Day news won't carry out far into the Future .. just a thought ..

I'll give the bundle a shot just to see how bad the commercial breaks are on Hulu these days (I've heard they've reduced them). It's not like I can't just drop after one month and just sub to Disney+.

ESPN+ would be nice, given I live in a mid-major college town, but not necessary.

Honestly, HULU with commercials is not that bad .. 90 seconds to 2 minutes .. and, I've had shows play through at times with only one commercial during the entire show ..

That is what I thought until I tried watching an hour long episode of a new show last Autumn. I got half way through and ended up purchasing the episode outright from Amazon. I couldn't take the commercials they showed. And then I switched my Hulu Plan to the ad free plan when I started watching most of my broadcast content from streaming.

Now with the ad free plan they do have a commercial at the beginning of some shows. Like Agents of Shield and Grey's Anatomy. But it is only a 15 second commercial.

And they also have a 15 second commercial at the very end. But once a show is over I'm moving on to another episode or show. So I never see the 15 second commercial at the end. But that 15 second commercial at the beginning is about all I can take. I could probably push it to 25 or 30 seconds. But any more than that and I wouldn't be able stand it. Fortunately there are only a few shows I watch on hulu that have a 15 second spot before the show. Most of the shows I watch on there have no commercials.

If it ever gets to the point that they start forcing a bunch of commercials on me, then I will stop watching the show. If there is no option to buy it outright. Like I currently do with some shows that aren't on Hulu or I can't get on Philo to be able to skip the commercials.

I know we all have different personal tolerances for things .. me, I'm an old man, getting by financially as best I can, so frugality is important .. and, I come from the era of no VCR / no DVR, so nobody really thought about commercials .. they were just part of it, nothing more, nothing less ..

I'll add that I bagged a years worth of HULU with commercials last Black Friday for .99 cents a month .. so, there is that ..

This bundle sounds pretty sweet. I wanted to check out Disney, and have been missing most of the UFC because of ESPN+. Hulu just sounds like icing on the cake.

I'll probably do the $13 bundle and drop my Netflix plan to 1080p/2-screen to offset a few dollars. I had the Hulu+Spotifiy bundle and gave it up to get a Spotify Family plan (too many people mooching off my account)... I haven't missed it terribly, but I would like to get caught up on Handmaid's Tale and a few others.

I agree everyone has their priorities re: $$$ vs. time/tolerance for watching commercials. But in those early days of TV, when you couldn't pause/FF/RW or record TV for later viewing, commercials were almost necessary. Besides providing precious opportunities for bathroom, snack, and phone call breaks, they might be the only time you could get your parents' attention before you bled out (I'm only partly joking).

My family got our first TV in 1957 .. I was 13 .. there was maybe 2-3 channels if my memory serves .. Dad was the Commander of what got watched .. I was relegated the task of Rabbit Ear manipulation when needed ..

My Mom would cook dinner and we'd gather in front of that small B&W TV .. I don't know if it would have mattered much if the set was color, based on what was available at that time ..

There was a time when Families shared these type things .. it's just a different World, these days ..

According to The Streamable, Disney+ will have 4K content at launch, 4 simultaneous streams on up to 10 different devices, allowing up to 7 different profiles, and unlimited offline mobile viewing. Movies will come with extras, like on DVD/blu-rays. And when browsing the app, movie trailers won't auto-play.

Disney also confirmed that 4K videos will be available at no extra cost!!...and it will release new episodes of its original series weekly, rather than dropping an entire season at once...Disney+ is going hard at Netflix!

Except for not releasing an entire season at once. I hate it when they trickle out a season one episode at a time. I hope Netflix Nevers changes that.

Fortunately the initial Disney+ price will be extremely low. At only $5.85 a month when paid yearly. Otherwise with them not releasing shows all at once, I would be more inclined to only pay for it a few months out of the year.

I agree about releasing weekly versus all at once...with streaming I've gotten used to complete series drops on the same day...but like you said since Disney+ is so cheap I think most people will deal with it...still no Dolby Vision confirmation?

1 year or more, all relent depends on subscriber lock in. Disney could drag it out and use the operating “loss” there and balance it out elsewhere. Once a steady subscriber base is set then slowly raise prices. Look how long NetFlix took to 1st raise prices and now slowly have been raising prices, but subscriber levels remain fairly high.

analysts are predicting Netflix is going to take a big hit once Disney+ opens for business...Netflix is not going away or anything but with all these new streaming services set to debut within the next few months (Apple+, HBO Max, Disney+) the market is going to get a lot more fragmented...Disney+ is giving people a lot of value for such a low price...I don't see HBO Max or Apple+ doing as well out of the gate

A small hit? For sure, I don’t think anything substantial. Apple+ and possibly NBC are the ones I see struggling at 1st. HBO will be ok especially if they tie in current subscriber base to the new service for low or no cost. Apple+ had the biggest hurdle as they have no catalog to start with (that I know of). We will see slight fragmentation, but I think for now most will have multiple services (like the Disney+,ESPN+,Hulu (ad supported) bundle. They are low enough cost where the monthly/yearly budget increase is not a crazy amount. I wouldn’t be surprised to see people start roaring services more either. The more content available the easier it will be for some to drop their Live services.
