@imagic I just received my Privilege 4K Movie redemption voucher from Sony. Does anyone know what the movie choices are currently when redeeming it?

Someone mentioned that the Privilege 4K app provides free access to IMAX documentaries. If so, how is this content accessed? In my copy of the app, I only see icons for the four preview clips (5 minutes each).

I think they will be coming at sometime in the future. They are not available right now.

I thought I had checked this but apparently I didn’t. You have to manually set the AVR to DTS and then the surround sound comes through. Sounds great and the picture is amazing.

I don’t have a certified model, I have a Z9D so I downloaded and installed the app and it worked! Video is stunning now the audio side is tricky since the Z9D won’t be getting eARC support it will be a challenge to get the DTS audio from the tv app to the receiver. Good thing is with fandango now being available with other devices this won’t be an issue.

Edit: it also worked on my 850E.

That is also the same thing I see when I select info when watching Netflix UHD, I have 120mps internet speed.

I created an account for the app with one set, and then the other TV just logged in, both sets working fine.

The demo and four shorts looked and sounded pretty good.

Lossy DTS audio is still output via ARC though.

I will never understand the thinking of some of these video/audio engineers. Here it is that they come out with this new enhanced technology and then they fall back onto a subpar audio codec...lossy DTS....they couldn't put the effort into a lossless? Damn.

At any rate, I do hope the Sony G950 does well in your evaluation because I just ordered one a half hour ago.

Can't hear the difference on a sound bar, which is what the vast majority of ARC users are using it for.

I would be very very weary of spending any money on this service given Sony's track record. Today I received an email from Sony that the Ultra 4K service is closing down for good on July 26th. Although they are attempting to provide codes so that you can play your 4K UHD movies on Moviesanywhere, its all a bit of a mess. Some movies are not part of this and you'll need to use Vudu instead. Seems like weird licensing arrangements on some Sony picture movies.

I would give this new Priviledge 4K service 2-3 years max before it all shuts down.

Absolutely Agree. Too many offerings, and none gone enough attention. Are there others?

And two more I can see for Android - "Movie Promo" & "Privilege Plus" though unclear if these are streaming apps like the above, or for management (e.g. redemption) type functions.

It doesn't help that UV refers to the sony library as "Sony Pictures Home Entertainment" and not by the actual app name that you would access it from. Their own communication says to use VUDU (parent company: Walmart) going forward

Can you post the language from that Sony email in its entirety? TIA

EDIT: Just opened up Prestige 4k for the first time on the 950G. For Prestige 4K, they removed the 'resolution' (SD, HD, HD+HDR, 4k+ HDR) info from Display that Ultra 4K has.

How did you get this to work? Is your X4500 showing IMAX DTS X on the front panel like it is supposed to?
I’m only seeing stereo being sent and while I can select DTS Neural X for the output it still shows as stereo input

Yes, it does show IMAX DTS + Neural:X. You have to cycle through the settings on the 4500. Also you have to make sure you have the DTS setting on the movie itself. I had to play with the TV settings to get any sound of the app at first.

You mean cycling thru the audio modes with movie button right? I only see Stereo/Surround DD/DTS Neural X/ Auro 2d/3D and a handful of others. Don’t see an IMAX option

The setting on the movie you mean from the audio button next to subtitle when you pause it? I selected/clicked on English DTS and nothing

Or was it an app setting from the TV settings?

Played around with it more tonight - still nothing seems to be working on the audio side - it is showing PCM stereo sound from the TV via ARC to my X4500, no option for IMAX DTS and it doesn’t detect. Attached a SS for reference

Any ideas on how to fix?

Figured this out thanks to ReDs on the A9G owners thread - settings below - I had them all right except I had system sounds on

Instead of DTS audio, the TV DIGITAL AUDIO OUT (OPTICAL) or HDMI® ARC will output PCM audio when streaming IMAX® videos from the Privilege IMAX app.

On the supplied remote, press the HOME button, select Settings gear icon Settings, and then change the following settings on your TV:

Under TV category, select Sound.
Select Speakers > Audio system.
Select Digital audio out > Auto 1 or Auto 2.
Select System sounds > Set to off.

Under System Preferences category, select Accessibility.
Select TalkBack > Off.
Select Screen reader > Off.

Saved me. I was busting my balls trying to figure out why my new RZ840 wasn't outputting IMAX DTS. Darn System sounds. Thanks!

Anyone interested in selling your unused code? I have a Sony 900e and would love to have the three movies.
