HDMI run before a HDBaseT

Hi all

Can I use a HDMI extender for a source before going into an HDBaseT matrix? Approx distance is 40m (measuring exact tomorrow) and likely run will include outside. Am I better / able to convert to ethernet or run as a HDMI, my instinct suggests a cat extension is better.

Looking to do 4k60 4:4:4 with HDR and atmos.

The use case is I want to output from PC to the matrix, which will be in the loft. I could move the PC but can't see any method of sending displayport to the PC monitor (for G-sync) over a long distance.

Have considered a fibre cable, but not sure if via outside is suitable for them.
