Is Hulu worth it?

In an effort to economize, we cut back to Dish's "welcome package". We no longer get FX. With the new season of Fargo coming up, we want to get the cheapest avenue. (I cannot talk my significant other into Sling, which would be my preference.)
Is Hulu a good deal?

You could just order the season on Amazon Video / Vudu / Google Play / etc as an alternative. New episodes would be available day-after-air.

Well if you want FX shows, the OnDemand version or the “ad free” version is a decent deal (IMO). You’ll get same day/next day access to FX shows after they air on the FX channel. Personally I’ve found use for it going back and watching shows I’ve missed in the past (especially those on ABC/Fox. My best advice and this is for any dreaming service is to get the free trial and see how it works for you. If you like it continue the service, if not then cancel with nothing lost but your time.

Heh, the “no ads” is worth it to me (time vs price difference) especially for hour long shows. Commercials add up and when I was using the ad supported service even though I sometimes got lucky with a “zero ad break” the randomness killed me. You can get the ad supported for $6 or less if you get in during a sale though.

Have to draw the line somewhere and Hulu didn't make the cut. Something about it bugs me. Can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe because of all its content there's only one show I want to see. Maybe. I dunno. Pass.

Timely question for me too. What’s the best deal going on the ad free version?

Since I already have a year subscription to Disney plus, don’t need espn or live tv, looks like $12 a month is the best option?

My current setup.
Recommended podcasts: The Next Picture Show, the /filmcast, AV Rant.

Beyond worth it to me. Getting Hulu with Live TV and HBO add-on was the best entertainment spending decision that I've made in quite some time.

We have regular Hulu, not Hulu with live TV, I got a free month with a purchase (but I think I could have gotten it anyway).
My early impression is that Hulu has past episodes of TV shows that I can find elsewhere. We like A Handmaids Tale, but we can get that from the library. Is there anything else that makes (regular) Hulu worth it?

FX on Hulu not only has shows from the FX channel but has shows made only for FX on Hulu. Devs from Alex Garland is one of the first. Most of the smaller shows on streaming will never be released on disc. Some of the Hulu originals will never be on disc including some British show pickups. Libraries are being closed for the time being too. Disney has been pulling in licensed Fox content away from other services as contracts expire. TNT and AMC shows that no longer stream on their sites usually end up on Hulu also.

I got interested because of Fargo, not available on our cheapo Dish service. But Fargo has been delayed, and hopefully I will convince my lady to go for Sling by then.

Sling is decent, if they hadn't dropped the RSNs for our area I might still have them.

Hulu Is Getting a New User Interface, Acknowledging Need to Make Navigation Easier

Hulu is launching a new user interface — a redesign prompted in part, it admits, because customers have complained that finding new content to watch is harder than accessing the streamer’s “continue watching” features...a key change in the new Hulu UI is that viewers can now navigate through collections vertically and explore within a collection by moving horizontally...that’s the navigation paradigm used by basically every other streaming service, including corporate siblings Disney Plus and ESPN Plus

Hulu said the new UI will be available to some customers on Roku and Apple TV devices beginning Wednesday (May 20), rolling out broadly over the next two months...it plans to launch the new interface on additional platforms over the summer...

https://variety.com/2020/digital/new...tv-1234612291/

Hulu's redesign is long overdue...I only recently signed on for the free month to watch Devs and Castle Rock and the dated interface was annoying
