Is there a remedy? Or should I be worried sick?
Help appreciated ... and even more appreciate if simple fix.
Cheers and many thanks,
I'd say worried sick.
Return it if you can. Last time I checked, TCL does not actually manufacture LCD TV, but re-badged them from other OEMs... (ALA TTE/RCA in USA)
Oops ... updated.... I just checked, they are building some sets as of the last year or so, and just expanded some production in China. If your set is used, it may not be TCL built depending on the age.
I used to work for a division of TCL. They are known for some pretty low end stuff. My company sold TVs, but they were built by a Korean OEM. They were decent Tier 3 stuff.
TCL used to be a big private label supplier of Durabrand CRTTV to Wal-Mart.
Chances are if you need a repair, it will negate whatever you saved buying a cheap second hand set.
