Wow it's gives feed back on the experience of a user over a year in the instruction manual. Wow. I'll have to dig it out and give it a read.

Constructive first post.

Did you called LG for the repairs or the local retailer?

I tried everything before boxing it back up and taking it back. TRUST ME, I did NOT want to take it back.
I tried game mode. I tried re-naming the input to both PC, and Game.
No matter what I did, the before-game screens would look proper (as per my settings - verified when I tried vivid mode), and the in-game would be "dull." I would say it was ABL, but it was VERY noticeable to me.
Also, when I watched cable, there was a definite judder no matter what I did in the settings. I wish I could have played around more, and maybe called LG support, but I've been traveling a lot the last few weeks and didn't want to take a chance by missing the return window.
Thanks again for the replies.

If you are asking the question you are asking, then you do not have the equipment you would need to calibrate it yourself. Try Fullybob's settings.

I have seen Fullybob's calebration settings in the 55EC9300 thread. I have the 9300 & am using them. I have not seen the setting in this thread. If I had the 9800, I would read from the beginning of this thread, I believe you will find that someone has theirs posted. I believe some new owners started using the THX calibration feature to start with & adjusted the settings as needed or tried someone else's posted settings. Have patience, these OLED displays are worth the time it takes to calibrate.

The latest 55" model is the EC9300. Check BB or CP for their prices. Can't discuss prices in this thread. CP is one of the sponsors on AVS Forum.

Yes, just manually change the settings under the picture menue settings duplicating the recommendation settings on those links. Point & click is all there is to it. Try one at a time & see which one you like best.

The EC9300 is the third generation OLED by LG. The EA9800 is the second generation model, the first 55". The first generation LG OLED was their 15" panel.

^^^^

LG has recently released their 4K OLED models in different sizes. I am sure you can access the info on the LG website. The EC9300 is not 4K, just OLED.

Sorry for the burn in
If I read it right, the menu was on the screen for 7 hours

What picture mode did you have it on? (Standard, game, etc)
Do you have a pic of the menu screen on the tv?

Thanks!

Interestingly, this is very tough to see on your pix with content. Even on the gray screen it's very tough to detect. It's the blue field where things get bad.

You might be lucky and see this dissipate when the LG algorithm kicks in.

OLED TV has now posted on another forum that he has discovered 13 to 14 dead or stuck sub-pixels on his February 2014-build TV, which, like the image retention/'burn-in', is in-keeping with the exact same problems experienced by Vinnie and The Plague with their early EA980 sets in the spring or early summer of last year.

So the good news for OLED TV is that LG's guarantee covers dead or stuck pixels, and that they will fix or replace sets where there are more than three or four (if I remember correctly from Vinnie and The Plague's experiences). So on this basis, he should really be giving LG a call.

But given the fact that this is once again an early, February 2014 model, it lends credence to the idea that this 'burn in' could actually be evidence of the 'voltage drift' problem with the transistors serving the individual pixels, seemingly addressed if not completely resolved in later-build sets via the algorithms used to reset the threshold.

For more on that, read this...

My TV automatically goes into a "screen saver" mode that shrinks the picture and moves it around to prevent burn in. I don't remember changing a setting for it and assumed it was on by default. Does yours not do that?

No my does not do that
what date is yours build?
The image is still the same its disappointing that it is not faded you can also see it on the smart screen with wigets on it and the usb hdmi input grey screen
i never knew it had saw many dead pixals outage i counted around 10 definitely more than 3-4 whats do you think LG will do about this a replacement or screen panel change with a newer one i don.t want it to get damaged in process of this repair has the tv is brand new unscratched screen apart from burn in it has now anyone dealt with lg repairs before i don't want a scratched screen or damaged casing or stand whilst it is being repaired
