Yes US Dollars. It's 4699 CHF. Swiss Franc and US Dollar is almost 1:1. So ~4700$.

And @sandman8989 : It's a bit weird that nobody has a date but LG confirms to you it will be march?!

My setup is this, I get my TV stuff from Time Warner, thru a Tivo Romio box. I also use a Apple TV box, and a Oppo BDP-83 bluray. They are connected via hdmi to a Pioneer Elite SC-71 receiver. Then outputed to the panel.
The default picture mode after initial setup of the panel was a power saving mode, I switched to Expert 1, and used close to the same settings I had been using for the 55" panel. They seem ok for the time being.
In messing around with the picture settings menu, no matter what picture mode I use, the aspect ratio, picture wizard, picture test, and deep color are greyed out. I guess that is due to the connection to the Elite reciever not having HDMI 2 capability? Can't find anywere in the specs for it what the hdmi version is for it, but it does have 4K pass thru. So I guess I need to upgrade the receiver? If so, any recommendations?
I have not noticed any "color banding" or other issues when plain scenes are displayed, and the what I call "dynamic range" seems very good, as written by other reviews, users, ect.
So, glad so far that I found one, and would appreciate any opinions on the setup, ect.
HDMI 2.0 was introduced with the VSX-80 so your model does not have it.

I also find it odd. You must have quite a connection. My response from LG today to the exact same question was we don't know...periodically check the website for an update on a release date.

That's too bad, but worse were the 2 fatalities that occurred in this accident.

The two employees had an accident involving Nitrogen? Does LGD use Nitrogen in their OLED manufacturing environment?

Mo, I don't believe nitrogen had anything to do with the explosion. Nitrogen in an inert, non-flammable gas. It may have been due to a natural gas explosion. I'm sure we'll find out more in time.

"Nitrogen makes up almost 80 percent of the atmosphere. It is a colorless and odorless substance which makes it very difficult to detect. When nitrogen gas is released rapidly into an enclosed space, it displaces oxygen and poses an asphyxiation threat. Such threat may happen in the midst of few warning symptoms. This is because the human carotid body has a low-oxygen sensing system that is relatively slow and poor.

In the factory where the incident occurred, nitrogen is used to wash the display screens while they are manufactured."

exactly. in my line of work, we use nitrogen to purge gas lines to PREVENT explosion. So nitrogen would not cause an explosion, it would actually prevent one.

I think his pictures do a great job showing off what normal content looks like on the edges of the screen.

Just to be clear, despite being in many compounds, nitrogen is effectively inert (i.e. non-reactive) in most real-world situations.

That said, as noted above, it can most certainly kill people. There are some tragic examples of idiots pouring liquid nitrogen into swimming pools for theatrical effect, for example, and creating horrible scenes of death.

There's a saying about "everything in moderation". If only it was applied to well, you know...

Yes of course; as anxious as we all are for these displays, it's certainly not to the point of death or injury.

Absolutely not. A life is an infinite amount of times more important and valuable than "things". The people over there working in the LG plants in South Korea are working hard to be able to bring us these new toys that we want. Nobody should forget that, rather everybody should appreciate it. And to hear about the loss of life due to an accident in the LG plant is just a bummer, a real bummer.

Here is the answer I got in an email they sent me 2 days ago:

Bonjour Monsieur
Cordialement
LG Electronics Team

Concerning what they told about the 65ec970v price, it's because I had asked about the difference of price between countries.

Thats the problem, they are just saying we received some information that says starting march. I don't really think this is reliable. Shure, it would be nice if it is like that. But somehow it doesn't sound like a "Yes we confirm it".
I will ask the shop were i preordered the 65EC970V if they have any infos. And if a switch to the 2015models would be possible if they really come at almost the same time.

I ask because I ordered and paId the 65ec970v last September but if they arrive at the same time I suppose the new models should have something more than the "previous" one. For the moment, we now there is a different processor and Webos 2.0, but there is nothing else except the possibility to get a flat 4k Oled.
Just in case it wasn't seen in the other thread, Robert @VE will be getting his first allotments of the 77 EG9700 next week.

In reading the PDF, it says that it has 10 bit processing.

How does that relate to content. Is it 8 or 10 bit and is the 10 bit about more precision in processing?

Several Canadian retailers I talked to are expecting the 65 curve in March I, wonder if that is the ec9700 model though, or the 2015

Also, LG says they expect to sell more of the curved oled tv's than flat.
