Have any of you seen this video?

https://screen.yahoo.com/lg-ef9500-s...185918149.html

Supposedly it is the LG EF9500.

The thing that intrigues me is the speakers have been removed from the TV and there is now a separate "Speaker Box" or whatever you want to call it.

I listened to the video several times, but can't quite make out the model the guy is talking about.

Pretty neat, were it the EF9500 as that is now #1 on my list to replace my old Sharp.

I never use the TV's speakers, and to have them out of the TV just seems like a "Kewl Idea" to me.

It should make the TV lighter too as I supects the amps, heat sinks etc are in the separate eenclosure, I guess I best compare weights between the 9600 and 9500?

You mean the one with the sound bar? That's the flat 65EF9800, which was also supposed to be released now, but it seems to have disappeared and wasn't even shown at IFA.

Incredible. If you bring it home you're obligated to give us impressions!

Just looking at the eg9600 I've seen a million times made me drool. The damn thing looked perfect - and to imagine, the 9500 is even better!!!

Yeah, well, he showed both the EF9500 and the EF9800. Apart from the soundbar, the EF9800 was also supposed to have a beefier CPU. Maybe it'll show up again at CES. For now, there's only the EF9500 with the normal internal speakers.

$5200 at least is in the universe of intriguing.

Could easily be half that in 2 years, I think, at which point it truly becomes the worthy successor to plasma by also providing value, not just quality.

There's a saying about "everything in moderation". If only it was applied to well, you know...

Hello All,

Disappointed with the EG9600 mainly for the edge uniformity issues. Yes my August build EG had the "gray curtains" on the right and left edges. Today I just woke up went to BB and asked for a swap. They had one in stock and I recd the EF9500, fired it up, did a quick adjust and am pleased to say that the edge uniformity is 80-90% better! Yes there is still some vignetting but it isn't anywhere as noticeable as the 55EG9600 - I would subjectively define it as mild. Curved screen of the EG didn't bother me now, but my intuition that in time I felt I'd regret it. The EF flat screen just feels more natural... So far with just an hour of use, I am very pleased, and this set looks so much better out of the box then the EG. Hope that answers some folks awaiting same. I will post some pictures later...

Hello everyone; I have been reading these posts about people purchasing this AMAZING TV; I just got back from BB with a price quote for the TV, GSP Plan and TV calibration, for a grand total of $8,674 and some odd change. Now I really want this TV but do NOT want to spend close to 10k. What would be the best bet, I have never ordered anything from Cleveland Plasma, but I am sure all of you have had some previous experience with them. My question to you all is; What would be my best route to go for the most reasonable amount of money. I do not mind spending 5-7k when it is all said and done, but 1,199.00 for a 5 year protection plan seems a little absurd to me. I read something about Square Trade warranty's but have never dipped into that, or know how to go about getting something like that. If someone could be so kind as to direct me in the right direction about this purchase AND a protection plan/warranty it would EXTREMELY appreciated!! I am so ecstatic to get this TV I might just have a coronary over it! hehehe Thanks YALL!

So I told myself if the 65 flat were $5000 I would spring. Cleveland Plasma is right there. So for the folks considering that worry about this high a ticket item a couple general questions
1) Full warranty?
2) Unlike BB, if there is a panel issue, we don't have any options but complain to LG, is that correct?
3) Would Chad be able to calibrate before it ships?

Thanks

@damiang1 :
Congrats. Looks like you're the first owner of the new EF9500 here.
Head over to https://www.avsforum.com/forum/40-ole...rs-thread.html

And would be great if you could post some photos of 5% and 10% greyscale videos that you can download from https://www.avsforum.com/forum/139-di...libration.html
I also suggest editing your 2nd pic (SN number).

You get that by becoming an elite plus club member by spending at least 3,000 dollars in a year on your best buy card - which is automatic if you buy a TV like this.

Thanks Yappa... So far so good. Wasn't too worried about the serial number on the EG as its been returned. But that is a good idea. Enjoying the set tonight and will be heading over to the EF owners forum and d/l the 5 and 10% photos and vid. Thanks so much.

After an hour of use, I jumped over to settings and was surprised that there is a full version update from 3.00.96 to 4.20.97! On a new August build set, I was quite surprised and pleased.

Step away from the direction of your BB store and call Cleveland Plasma. I've bought from him 3 times. Put down your checkbook or CC and call him...you won't be disappointed.

I didn't purchase from BB and I had a panel issue with my EG9600 (the edge banding). Called LG VIP and they sent an authorized repair tech from my area to document the issue. I chose the full refund over a replacement panel.
